In this adventure I went on with my gear, I captured some beautiful underwater video and pictures of a wonderful day at Lake Waldo. Included in the video are some interesting things about the lake and some viewpoints one might like to know about this wonderous large crystal lake.

Thank you Fiona, I enjoy doing these type of videos of lakes here in the northwest U.S.A. You may enjoy the one "Kayaking with the Ghosts of Saint Hellens" or some of the Clear lake ones as well.

Thanks for the under water view. Waldo’s average depth is 120 feet. At its deepest it is 420 ft. The water is as clean as distilled water, we would like to keep it that way. It’s ideal for kayaking and stand up paddle boards and swimming. Thank you

It was a fun place to visit. I've recently been given a new Kayak for my channel by 3 Waters Kayaks. And I think another visit to Waldo is in order.

There is nothing like this back home in PA. These are all glacial feed rivers and lakes. Artesian springs and amazing minerals. The whole Mckenzie River is a pretty blue.

I would like to thank you for sharing the beauty of your adventures at Waldo Lake. For a little over 30 minutes I was still. Completely still and at peace. Your visions captured such beauty. Your underwater videos and pictures were amazing. And thank you for being so informative at the end of the video. Very well spoken. Educational. I'm subscribed 👍

Amazing video!! I like the effort you put in making all the videos. I have questions about this lake, is the water colder than the clear lake sisters? do they have row boat for hire as they do in clear lake?
@Amberdogproductions

Thank you! I really enjoy making these. The water at Waldo is warmer than Clear lake. I have yet to access a lake with water as cold as clear lake. I know there are some alpine lakes that form as the snow melts, but seldom last too long. Clear lake is fed by snow melt that filters through the lava fields for years. So that, combined with the cold lends to the clear waters. Now, as to water clarity of Waldo, that's because it's filled only by snow melt. There is no creek. River or anything that brings sediment into it. And as such lacks most nutrients, which is why you don't see many if any fish or vegetation under water. It's fairly sterile. I'll stop there to avoid writing a book or boring you..lol Thank you for watching another one of my videos!

It’s doesn’t get many people coming to it, so I like that. I really don’t want more people coming to Crescent so maybe you shouldn’t go? It’s very deep. It has lake trout, Kokanee, and rainbow trout. Lots of rocks there too. Has sand too. I think it’s worth going.

That's one thing that I love about the lakes I normally do is no powered craft. So the water is more clear, shorelines are not bare from wakes and better to film at from no boat wakes. Waldo was a longer drive for me but was a beautiful place.

There are Kokanne and Brook trout in there! However the only fish I've ever seen was a dead Kokanne floating on the surface near a southern alcove. I'm guessing a proper fish finder would tell ya where they're at? The lake is glass at night/early morning, it gets windy during mid day.. I recommend kayakers/paddleboarders stick close to the shore.. If you go to the north west of the lake there are trails that will lead you to countless lakes that are full of Trout, Otters, fire towers etc. I caught a arm length rainbow trout almost every cast at Kiwa lake.. but Waldo itself seems barren.. the only wildlife I've ever seen in Waldo were some diving beetles and an albino Water-Dog Salamander thingy.. Waldo is awesome for its purity but if you want to catch fish go to the countless lakes around it. They are almost as clear/pure except they have fish.. (bring bug spray!)

Did you know that the town of Pleasant Hill (not Pleasant) - located right southeast of Eugene - is the home of 1960's counterculture icon Ken Kesey? Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters were a big deal in the 1960's and went traveling around doing shows in their "Furthur" bus. There is a statue memorial to Ken Kesey in downtown Eugene, in a place known as Kesey Square.

@mushroomsteve

@@Amberdogproductions I don't know about Waldo Lake, but I wouldn't be surprised if he spent some time there. He lived in Pleasant Hill and probably had a connection to the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta. The Grateful Dead played at the Fair in 1972 I think, and the Eugene area was like a second home to them.

@@Amberdogproductions Yes, the main connection was that you mentioned passing through "Pleasant" (really, Pleasant Hill) in the video on the drive to the lake, and said that it seems like a town in a horror movie. But Pleasant Hill actually has this history.
