Ireland had the Irish Sea. Scotland had Geography AND the fact that the Welsh bankrupted English King's with all the castles they were forced to build in Wales, so they had no money for a concerted campaign in Scotland for many years. This song is so moving. Wales amongst others, but a majority contributor, built London and enabled the industrial cities. Men and boys traded their health and lives to fuel furnaces to build the Capital and then were abandoned by the lady in charge of the City they built. It is an anthem and I'd love to see this rendition alongside the national anthem at some point in Qatar. To qualify this comment, this song made a relatively recent resurgence. This is actually what the song was originally about.
