This performance was part of Martin and Regines 2003 World Tour Concert Series. That's why the medley is so well crafted and arranged. At this time they were at the height of their vocal prowess and could sell out an entire venue in a snap.

I joined a singing contest hosted by Regine Velasquez (I didn't make it to the finals but definitely the experience was superb!) and we were rehearsing at her house and I got to have a little chit-chat with Regine's father, Mang Gerry. He said that in this particular concert, the volume of Regine's mic was only half the whole time and Martin's was set at the maximum. Martin kept on exclaiming that it was so tough to sing with Regine, and as you'd evidently notice, he was sweating the entire performance and Regine was fresh as the morning sun. 😍 That's one powerful voice she has there. 😎

FACT: This was performed February 2003 and still gives us goosebumps!!!! There are a lot of great performances between these two Philippine musical giants and this is one of their bests and maybe the best ever 💖 a lot of us still wonder if they can still do a repeat performance for this medley.

I remember in one of Regine's interviews about this concert, that the hardest performance is this broadway medley. She even joked about maybe their musical director thought they're not human with this arrangment but it was really hard 😂. Their musical director is Gerald Salonga who happens to be Lea Salonga"s brother. this concert is really so classy and a masterpiece for me. I wish i could've seen it live.

I WAS HERE LIVE!!!! I was only 8 years old then and it was the first concert I attended, but everything was so vivid to me. I can literally feel the arena's vibration when Regine belts. This 2-night concert was so big that even the Philippine's President attended it with her (I think) 30+ escorts. FACTS: 1. Did they act together? YES ---- in fact, they have a mini skit in this concert shown in-betweens where they TORRIDLY KISSED 🤣🤣🤣 They even spoke in a different language and dubbed it in Tagalog to make it look like a Telenovela (Spanish dubbed in Tagalog) 2. 10 years after this, Martin admitted in an interview that he and a crush on Regine during these times 3. Martin, the PH Concert King, already had a big name when Regine was starting and he and his ex-wife gave her more exposure, even suggested Chona (Reg's nickname) should use the name "Regine". 4. During the concert, Martin's mic was set to maximum volume, while Regine's mic was set to half so that Martin cannot be overly powered by Regine's voice easily. Regine even had migraine attacks during these numbers, so bad that she was rushed to the hospital after the event. 5. Up to this day, in spite of their 30 years of friendship and contributing huge histories in each other's career, Martin is still surprised by Regine's capabilities, often claiming her his favorite singer of all time.

Yes. Martin and Regine are very close together. Factoid: it was Martin who coined the name Regine when she was starting out. Her original name was Chona Velasquez (short for Regina Encarnacion Velasquez) but her manager thought Chona sounded provincial and campy. So Martin, who guested her at his late night talk show Martin Penthouse, suggested Regine. Theyve toured and done shows together. She's also really close to his ex wife Pops Fernandez who actually asked her hubby to go out on a limb and have Regine as a guest despite being new to the industry. So in a way Regine owes her success to Martin snd Pops which she never forgets to recognize.

Mesmerizes and blows me away every time. Martin has such a golden voice. As matinee idols of the 80s, Gary & Martin were pitted against each other in every facet of performance: music, tv, movies so it's really perfect that they ended up as the best of friends. You should check their powerhouse tandem concert "As 1" where they sing each other's songs... check iTunes, there's an album born out of this brilliant world tour. Gary has these throwback gems in his YT channel. Martin also has Wishbus perfs of his iconic songs. His best doesn't have nearly the views it deserves: Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin.

Welcime to Martin Nievera's world if music. He's an icon in Philippine music. He's the Concert King and Philippine's pride.

To answer Valey's curiousity about how many rehersals they had to do to achieve this performance, they had both separate crazy schedule because of their crazy engagements individually so they didn't have the luxury of lenghty rehearsals just for this performance alone. So you're probably right that it's more of a muscle memory plus the fact that they've worked together and known each other for a long time.

Remember Kiana Valenciano’s guitarist on the Wish Bus? That’s Martin’s son. Kind of second generation musical artists. You should check out Zsa Zsa Padilla and Lani Misalucha, contemporaries of Martin, Gary, Regine and Jaya. Zsa Zsa also has two daughters who are great singers, Karyllr & Zia Quizon.

Never tire of watching this cover. Both of them were so amazing. In case you haven't seen Regine's Inspirational Medley, pls do so, it was very emotional and moving but very powerful towards the end of the song.
