I remember there's one time I was talking to a Japanese. He commented that both the Philippines and Japan love music. But he's wondering why albums don't sell well in the Philippines as much as they do in Japan. My answer was, it's because Japanese love music and so they buy and collect albums and listen to them. While the Filipinos love music as well but Filipinos learn the song and sing it themselves. I remember in the 90's we have this so called "song hits", it's a magazine full of song lyrics with chords written on top of the words in the lyrics. Every afternoon my friends and I would gather and grab a guitar and sing the heck out of anything in that song hits. With some beer or food. It's a pass time and a bonding or just plain killing boredom.

We don't do fanchants, we sing the whole song! hahaha and since Filipino crowd is one of the best crowds in the world, we have this "inside joke" where we said "thank you for coming to our concert *insert artist/group's name" hehe.

I think, we Filipinos believe that concerts are our celebration together with the artists. We sing along because their songs became part of our life. Tbh, until now, I am amazed of the audience’s blending. Hahaha. Imo, Filipinos are the best crowd to perform. 🤗

I was in Germany as guest worker. Just this July Ed Sheran had concert there. Many of my Filipino friends went to that concert and they were following every song sung by the singer. The german audience were staring at them for being so joyfully singing there, actually annoyed already but my colleagues were not affected by those faces. Filipinos know how to party

regardless of the language, Filipinos will sing along. You can take a rest from performing and wed love to show you how much we love you by singing your song, same lyrics, same accent, same everything.

At a recent Seventeen concert, the group was left in awe because the whole crowd not only sang along but also rapped along to one of their fastest lyrics.

IU actually said that everything failed, she couldn't hear the sound because people are shouting, she couldn't sing because she couldn't hear anything else but the crowd BUT IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE she have... She realized it's not being perfect, but enjoying your concert that makes it the best concert 😉

My mom was very into the music scene in the 80's to 80's, and she always said international artists consider it proof of their success when they can get a Philippine audience to sing along.

KinnPorsche casts came here in the Philippines last Oct.22 for their world tour Asia and they were shocked of the crowd 😄. Specially Jeff Satur was surprised hearing the crowd singing along Why Don't You Stay in Thai ver. And he even said that Manila fans owns the song now✨

It happens in clubs too 😂 sometimes the DJ puts pauses in the songs to allow the crowd to sing.

Filipinos are musically-inclined. Even those who don't sing in public surely sing in private. When invited to sing, some would say "pang banyo lang boses ko" which means "I can only sing in the bathroom". However, these people still listen to and even dance to music. One can hear mothers humming or singing while doing the most mundane chores and of course lullabies to lull their babies to sleep. Students do study with earphones on. Some offices, stores do play songs during office hours. Our culture is defined by music that even Tagalog (where Filipino, the language is heavily influenced) is so beautiful to one's ears because of its lilting sound as if there is a melody being followed as it is spoken. It is no surprise to have people in a con or show or any big gathering sing songs. Political rallies, games, church activities, or just give Filipinos a reason to sing, they will sing. The funny thou...when the first southeast asian tv series came to the Philippines which is Meteor Garden F4, taiwanese series, (koreans were not yet known at that time in the country) their songs are so popular, every generation, from children to adults memorized their songs or so familiar with it, but no one knows what the meaning of it. I was 13 at that time and now I am already 31, but still, I can memorize their songs. It only proves that we love so much music that the meaning behind the songs doesn't matter anymore 😊

I am a frequent rock concert attendee when I was still in the Philippines. Yes, the crowd is something over there. It so lively. I went to concerts to the caliber of iron maiden, slash and many more here in the US. Everybody is as dead as wood.

Many many years ago and immediately after the EDSA revolution, PETER, PAUL and MARY performed a spontaneous concert in the streets of Manila and to their amazement, PEOPLE started singing with them. That was one very memorable moment!

we sing by heart even its in different language but the melody move us make us want to see it in a language we dont or didnt know we just follow it until we memorize it by heart thats why we choose to sing along in every artist and in every song we hear. .

everybody is encouraged to sing here ..even when someone is out of tune in a gathering there is a term na "sasaluhin ka namin " which means will catch you and back you up we will sing together with you...to put the music back in tune...whats important is everybody is happy singing....

So many international singers who performed in the Philippines got overwhelmed qnd cried on stage or were reduced to tears because of the crazy and really enthusiastic response from Filipino crowds.

We're a mostly Catholic nation. We have many parishes. These parishes have churches. This practice of collective singing comes from attending masses. I know 3 versions of Our Father and 2 versions of Ama Namin (Tagalog of Our Father). In college we gathered to participate in a Pro-Life march. It was a long walk. So we started singing 'Lift Up Your Hands' by Basil Valdez because everyone knows the lyrics. And I never noticed before but yes, it's in tune.😊

iKON's Continue Tour is the biggest PH solo K-pop concert to date. You should see the crowd during B-day performance. It looked like a festival. Everyone was jumping.

Actually there’s this running joke around kpop fans in the Philippines. It is the “It’s the artists that went to the Philippines to watch Filipino fan’s concert instead” 😂 Actually, filipino fans are known for singing the whole song instead of doing the fanchants. But because it’s been a long time since kpop groups had their last face-to-face concert. The anticipation of the Filipino fans went even double. So when they finally held concerts here, most all of those kpop artists where like shock by how loud the crowd is. It’s always fun to watch concert with the Filipino crowd cauz that’s how they appreacite their idol’s music. It’s beyond popularity. They love their artists because they enjoyed their music genuinely. ❤

you should also look at footage from the Ppop concert in April 2022. 16 Ppop groups all on the one stage including 4th Impact and SB19. The crowd went wild ---I know because I travelled from Australia to Manila for that concert. A solid DREAMER here .

I remember those Wishbus performances of SB19 where A'TIN were singing/rapping along with them while cheering outside the Bus.

Watch the Love Scenario sang by IKON in KPop Masterz in Manila Ep. 2. You can see that audience not only sing but even Bobby (IKON's main Rapper) was shocked to see that the Filipino crowd can also do his RAP PART of their song. IKON were all in awe.

Yes, we’re quite requiring when it comes to music and singing. If you’re a recording artist, we’d expect you to sound exactly as good as in your record when you sing live because amateur singers here sing exactly as if it’s the recording. And if you’re an artist we like, we would die to see you perform live. If we like you the way you sing live, we’ll sing along with you. If we don’t sing along with you… well that should give you a clue 😂✌🏼
