Strix Outdoors how are they working for you? Thinking about using them duck hunting

They are working really well for me so far. I've only been using them for duck hunting so far. Be very careful about dropping them into the water..... I put them on only once we've done putting out all of the decoys, etc and are just waiting for the ducks. I take them off immediately once we are done shooting and put them in a pocket before we start picking up the decoys, etc.

Strix Outdoors any trouble in the wind?

It does pick up wind noise and it can get bad if the wind is hitting the mic in just the wrong way. It's supposed to be improved with wind noise reduction and I do notice that the sound sometimes seems to get muffled more.. i suppose that's from the wind noise reduction. I don't know. However, it's been a fairly easy fix so far, on windy days I wear a sitka beanie and I pull the beanie down over the earbud mic and it eliminates the wind noise. I can still hear well enough that way. The hood of my jacket works well also

Thats just because customers (such as myself) prefer the total wireless feel. If your a person who is prone to losing small things like these then the previous model is what you would be safer buying .

My 2nd set has been holding up well so far into this season. A little less than a year in with that set. Just have to be really careful with them to make sure they don't fall out. Just the other days I missed my pocket and 1 tumbled to the ground below my deer blind. Luckily, I was able to find it pretty easily.

I believe it uses the microphone on each earbud but I need to test it. I’m having trouble with the left bud right now so let’s see what the warranty department says....

Yes, i believe that is normal... at least mine do it to. I would describe it as a "white noise" or hissing. It's more noticeable the more you turn up the volume on each earbud. If it's really bad, you may need to turn the volume down on each earbud.

Hi Jim, sorry I haven't forgotten about you guys. They sent me a new pair without any problem. The new pair is working fine so far... I would say maybe even better than the original pair because I seem to be getting less static buzz from them when they are on. I've used them shotgunning and at the gym a good bit. I haven't spent much time with pistols or rifles with them and that's why I haven't done an update. I promise an update video soon. I'm pretty happy with them but they are not perfect. The app/software sometimes does not work very well or won't connect to the earbuds and that can get a little frustrating.

This is what it states in the manual: "The earbuds will power down after a period of inactivity. To power down, the earbuds must have no input for the given period of time AND not be actively streaming Bluetooth audio". Now, without streaming audio or phone calls, I have not had the earbuds power down during a sporting clays tournament with the 2hr default setting. I HAVE however, had the earbuds power off during duck hunting in which the shooting was pretty slow but I'm pretty sure we might have at least shot a couple of times during a 2hr window. The options for sleep mode setting (via the app): "Off, 2hr, 4hr, 6hr). For hunting situations, I've just set it to 6hrs and I haven't had any issues.

Daniel, I'm sorry but I haven't tested that yet. I'll try to do some simple tests to get an idea.

Thanks I appreciate it I plan to use them for work mainly but if they only have a 4hr Bluetooth run time with a 1 hr charge time that won't fit my needs

Daniel, I know Walkers states about 4hrs while streaming on Bluetooth and I would not expect much shorter than 1hr recharge time to bring them back to full power. I just realized that I fried my pair in the washing machine....... soooo it may be a while before I can conduct any testing. 😢

They come partially charged. Yes, I normally put power to the charging dock while the ear buds are connected. I usually charge and leave them in my truck via the USB plug so I don't forget them. The bonus is that dock will recharge the buds even if the dock is not connected to power itself.

Hey Mark, man, not sure of a great way to test them outside of taking them out and doing some shooting. You could download the Walker's app to your phone, pair the ear buds to the phone and try playing some music via bluetooth. That will at least confirm that the speakers function and that you can control with the phone app. Depending on where you are buying from, you can hopefully take them back for a return or replacement if you don't end up liking them. If they just don't work, I bet they would still be under warranty from Walkers.

I don’t recall that they had a seal sticker.

Check that’s it’s the Silencer Bluetooth rechargeable (if that’s what you plan to buy). The previous model was also called the Silencer but required hearing aid batteries that were not rechargeable

I've been able to get about the same distance away from my phone with mine before they lose BT connection. Most of the time I have my phone in my pocket though so it's not a problem. I will mention that I had to send my original pair back under warranty. I'll explain more in my follow up video but waiting to get a bit more time with them before I post that.

Ah.. I'm so disappointed to hear that. The 2.0s were supposed to address some of the relatively minor (to me anyway) issues from the ones I have. I considered whether it was worth upgrading but based on what you're saying I'll just stick with the ones I have. I have not had the issues you mentioned above. The only compliant I have with mine is that sometimes when listening to music the right earbud will stop playing for a little bit and then come back. They've worked well for shooting though which is the primary reason I bought them. Thanks for the comment on your experience.

Hey Will. Sorry that you had that experience. I've had pretty good luck with getting a replacement the one time I had an issue but I think that was still under warranty period. You may try calling them and seeing if you can't get a replacement pair directly from them at a discounted rate. They have offered that to be before and that's not a bad deal. At the end of the day, these are electronics and they will eventually have issues and this is not just a GSM issue. Example: I had a Leupold rangefinder ($400) that started fading...Leupold has fantastic service on their optics... but electronics are not under the same. I was basically SOL, the best that Leupold could do for me was offer a good discount on buying a new one from them..... so there went several hundred more dollars for a working rangefinder. Electronics are just bound to fail at some point and most of the time trying to fix them isn't worth the cost of labor to do so.
