Walking in Bourton-on-the-Water on a Rainy Night || Cotswolds

So, this evening we are out and about walking in the very popular tourist location of Bourton-on-the-Water which is located in the county of Gloucestershire, England.
I believe this is now our fourth visit to Bourton and a second night walk here. It is one of those locations that I don't think I will ever tire of but having said that, I could well say the same about the majority of Cotswold locations that we visit. During the daytime Bourton often sees a high number of tourists, although there might be a decline in tourists this coming summer due to the ongoing coach parking saga!

It is easy to see why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds due to the shallow River Windrush flowing through the village which is crossed with a sequence of ornate stone bridges which are flanked by eye catching lamp posts.

Absolutely gorgeous! Having visited this lovely town during the bustling Christmas holiday, it was so special to see it can be very tranquil, especially with the pattering rain. Thank you for this totally different look at Bourton on the Water. Greetings from Naples, Florida!

You had said last time that the next walk would require an umbrella, and you definitely were correct- though as a viewer sitting and watching this indoors, I refrained from using one, lest my sanity be called into question! : ) What a charming and peaceful walk through the village at night, and during a gentle rain! Isn’t it amazing to see the totally different look that a place has after nightfall? The rain made it even better. (Even as a young child I always loved rainy days….would put on a raincoat, hat, and boots and go out to play in puddles!). The reflection of the lights shining on the river was truly lovely. There is something about being near water that is always so restful. I was surprised that the last bridge you crossed appeared to have no railings along the sides. One definitely would not want to have a misstep while walking there, and fall into the water! I’m glad that you made it safely across, and am also glad that you shared another lovely walk with your viewers. : )

Hey OAAW~ Easy to love beautiful little village! Again… and even in the rain. It seems the river going over its banks doesn’t happen all that often? That last bench at the end, across the path from that awesome white flowering tree by the river… a long raincoat under me, a nice hot tea, and an umbrella over me…. Lovely walk, OAAW. Hi, Cheryl. Great to hear from you. Hope you had a pleasant weekend. Really glad that you enjoyed this one. The river does get quite full now and a again during the winter and spring. Thinking about doing a high season daytime walk here in the summer, so you can gain a sense of what the village is like at it's busiest. I did do one here not long after I first started out on the channel, the camera was mounted on a chest strap (so a lot of bobbing up & down movement is very noticeable plus the camera kept shutting down due to the hot weather also I could not see what I was filming, had to guesstimate it!). Merci pour cette visite nocturne j’aime la nuit et le son de la pluie est agréable. Merci d’être sorti sous la pluie ( avec un parapluie bien sûr) cette petite ville est jolie et très bien entretenue.le petit banc blanc en fer forgé était ancien et très beau .En France en ce moment les rivières débordent aussi il y a beaucoup d’inondations .Merci encore pour ta video et bises de France 🇨🇵 🙏🏼

Nice nighttime walk! Have only been there on a sunny crowded summer day. Good choice. Nice change. Had to have been raining for quite a while for the water level to be so high under the bridges. Highly recommend the scones from Bakery on the Water. Well done! Thanks.

It`s eerily quiet, like the village has been evacuated and they forgot to tell you about it.😊 Bourton-on-the-Water is always great to see, day or night and in every season, although the Christmas walk there is my favorite. Have you ever visited the model village there?

Hi, Eva. That is just what it felt like :). The Christmas walk did have a nice feel to it. I’ve not visited the model village in a long time, it was pretty amazing tho from what I recall. Oh, btw, I revisited your book village again for you although technically it was not night time but at very first light. Still a very pleasant & calming walk. Enjoy the rest of your day. ~ OAAW

I don't blame your 3rd mate, ☂️🕶️, demanding 📽️ time, he is quite the floater and liquid, spreading himself across buildings; Cheeky fella, photo bombing frequently, tho I swear I saw a squirrel tail shadow once. You pretended to not notice I twasnt walking withya but instead kayaking slightly behind, but 🤬 your rascally hide going upstream, leaving me in a bucking current plight ya did. Ole Bourton be candy to tourists, I meself wide-eyed all the dazzling geegaws in shop windows. One thing about a city I really like, they have such a variety of water noises liken the telegraph morse code at that one corner. I like this Bourton walk too, at night, the white lamp reflections rippling in with colored building spotties has a very pleasant mood affect. That last bridge... Didja hear me tittering, I was hiding under the center arch, barely able to jam the bricks with me oar, fast current tonight she be.

@@OutandaboutWalking I was fiddling with 🦮🐕‍🦺s outdoors & 📱was indoors. After, I noticed something new happened via icons at top of 📱 screen... But upon 🔍it was a 👻. I smartly allow subscriptions/comment notifications direct from YT HQ so the 👻 appeared in me YT email box. Mission Impossible self destruct tape player DNA you might say (I read smokes🧐) and me thus return a wet blanket whipping me campfire to send you rising wood incense, yep, of course me noticed the horses weren't hitched to the wagon with the broken axle, and yep I 🔎d the new @. When you turn off this tape player push the 👍 button and plastic incense will perfume.

Like Henley it can be a bit of a jackel and Hyde. The council seems to dislike tourists as much as locals. Perhaps the better answer is for the surrounding villages to charge for travel though their areas in order to visit ? Just a thought.
