Bonita ciudad. Oh, to be young and carefree again. I did what you are doing in 1963 when I hitchhiked to Mexico from San Francisco, California. Having studied Spanish for four years in high school I knew the grammar but had never actually used the language. After one summer living like a hippie on a budget in small towns and some very dodgy accomodations I became quite fluent. Mexico was a different scene in the sixties and seventies, as you can imagine. You could live in Guadalajara in a nice house paying 75 Dollars a month rent. Beer was one peso. There was almost no violence and definitely no drug problem. Too bad the country has become what it is. Even once safe cities like Mazatlán and Querétaro now have a problem with narcotraficantes. But, anyway, glad to see you are doing things that I would like to be doing. In the sixties and seventies you could do those things but you couldn't show anyone what you were doing. Technology has opened up a plethora of possibilities.

Ray Vogensen Well I’m Mexican and live in the US honestly the violence and intolerance is way out of control and I’m not saying there’s no violence and drug cartels in Mexico but the US with its high demand of drugs doesn’t have a promising future . We both countries have in common an offer/demand drug problem that needs to be addressed

México no ha sido "tantas" veces invadido. Solo ha sido invadido 2 veces: La invasión gringa y la invasión francesa. Las dos no aportaron nada en cuanto a cultura se refiere. Quizás un poco la francesa en la arquitectura. No cuento la invasión española porque es parte de nuestro ser, de todos los países latinoamericanos.

@@jasonrazojazo La invasion Francesa aportó menormente a la cultura mexicana, por ejemplo, el traje del mariachi usado por Maximiliano, los teatros, y el polka desarrollado por inmigrantes germanos, esto entre otras cosas. Como tú mencionas la invasión estadounidense no aporto nada más que miseria.

Gracias Fary, solo un comentario, México no está en Sud America, es NORTE America, recuerda qué los países del Norte son Canada, USA y México y luego en America Central, Guatemala, Belize etc. Sud America ya en Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador y varios más, hasta llegar a la Argentina....Saludos.

Gracias! In 2021 the plan is to come back and film another one of these with corona gone, the city opened fully (did you see the university stairs boarded up?) and with a better microphone that doesn’t capture the wind noise haha!!

What a gorgeous walk this was. An extremely intimate vantage point from which to enjoy this stunning architectural wonder of a town. It's amazing how sometimes my mind wanders and I feel I'm watching a meandering walk through Modica, Sicily or Granada, in Southern Spain. These monumental historic cities in central Mexico bear such striking architectural affinity with their European counterparts, they are true wonders on the American Continent. Thanks for sharing!

Ciudad de Guanajuato. Fue declarada como Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad por la Unesco en 1988 (En el minuto 5:37 se muestra la placa) Pasear por sus calles, callejones, plazas, etc. y disfrutar de su Magnífica Arquitectura. Te felicito. Buen video y paseo.

23:13 you just passed the statue of one of the greatest singers Mexico has ever had, Jorge Negrete! He was very famous and still is, known for many songs, including Mexico Lindo y Querido, an unofficial anthem that all Mexicans sing. I'd recommend also visiting the birth home of muralist Diego Rivera, married to Frida Khalo.

Jay thanks so much and best of luck with your move from Taiwan. If you choose Guanajuato you won’t regret it - totally void right now of the large numbers of gringos that usually fill the streets. I think in my 8 weeks in Guanajuato I spotted a handful of other foreigners. A true Mexican experience that’s for sure :) Gracias for watching.

Hola! Soy de Guanajuato capital, muy lindo tu vídeo, siento que voy caminando contigo en estos días de resguardo (meses de resguardo obligatorio) . Me llama la atención por qué a varios de nuestros visitantes se les olvida o no saben que existe la zona de Paseo de la Presa? Con sus casas estilo europeo pero con un toque muy mexicano en el paseo. En el 42:30 me parece que no se llama callejón del burro, es segunda de Cantaritos...

Thanks so much HIVOLCO. I arrived yesterday to Monterrey so I have a new location to do a walking tour. Here there is the fifth largest plaza (town square) in the world which I’d love to see and film so I can share with everyone the scene without speaking. I think there’s something worth capturing by simply hitting record and walking - the natural sounds and sights speak for themselves. Glad you enjoyed the Guanajuato version 🤩 - thanks for watching!!

Hi Jean!! I use iPhone11 pro and stabilise it using a gimble (OSMO3) It gives really smooth video which is perfect when walking the streets 😀!! Thanks for watching.

What I didn't see was containers for recycling trash. I saw several big open containers but nothing for separating plastic, paper, glass and organic matter. I wonder if recycling is common in Mexico.

Precioso lugar lleno de tanta cultura, color, folklore, sus plazas, todo hermoso. Por otra parte obserbo la mayoría de la gente sin cubrebocas, sin respetar la distancia, el señor del 11:32 escupiendo en la calle subiendo las escaleras. Algo muy malo en mi adorado México es la ignorancia de alguna (o mucha) de su gente, sin duda una lástima ver eso. En fin, espero poder visitar pronto Guanajuato.

Es que hay zonas mas turísticas y zonas que casi nadie va, solo para los que se aventuran, pasa en todos los lugares, además Guanajuato siendo la capital no es el mas poblado del estado de Guanajuato, la vez que fui puedes encontrar callejones sin gente, calles sin personas, pero lugares turísticos como las momias, el indio, el callejon del beso y ciertos puntos, encontraras mucha gente, igual este video se grabo en pandemia y en pleno toque de queda

Me imagino que se da entre los delincuentes en las colonias de las ciudades de Celaya, Salamanca, Irapuato y los Apaseos, en León no se sabe tanto y menos en La ciudad de Guanajuato, del gobernador me imagino que si ha de ser un inútil por lo que he escuchado, pero para turistear he pasado muchas veces por esas ciudades y ni ahí ni mucho menos en Guanajuato no me ha tocado ver siquiera una pelea de perros, mucho menos de humanos.

@@cesarsinglaterry3745 León es un barrio de Tepito en potencia, es la tercera ciudad más peligrosa del estado, por años fue el primer lugar, todo esto debido a su crecimiento industrial.
