As a music instructor, this is FASCINATING. How many times can you hear SIDE BY SIDE an older/younger vocalist? From a teaching perspective, this is REALLY interesting. Not to mention beautiful, nostalgic, EVERYTHING. And tears. Many tears. Happy and sad- everything.

This is still the most gorgeous song ever written, in my opinion. It immediately reduces me to tears. Happy? Sad? Doesn’t matter. It touches the soul. ❤

Every now and then in my life comes a song that completely, and I mean completely, captivates and occupies me. There were several before this one, I'm sure more are still to come, but right now, at this point of my life (it's been holding me for a week now, and it will continue to do so for a couple more I think) this unusual duet is the most beautiful thing I can treat my ears with. There are times I wish I had been older to experience something nostalgic when it was new, rather than as received memory. This is one such time. All the same, it’s still powerful, seeing all the images in my head. The house from above, the cruise ship, the girl staring in wonder and best of all, the school of whales.

I remember finding the video of "The Snowman" at our local children's library. I was not familiar with the story, but thought it would be a nice video for my young daughter to watch. I don't recall her age - perhaps four or five. She was contentedly watching it but burst into tears as soon as Aled began singing this song. I had to stop the video. As others have commented - the melody and harmony are beautiful and sad at the same time.
