As a music instructor, this is FASCINATING. How many times can you hear SIDE BY SIDE an older/younger vocalist? From a teaching perspective, this is REALLY interesting. Not to mention beautiful, nostalgic, EVERYTHING. And tears. Many tears. Happy and sad- everything.

😂 It’s Aled Jones as a child in this video. But Peter Auty IS the original voice featured in the film The Snowman. The film producer’s finally acknowledged him a few years ago. Someone in Aled’s camp was very jammy. Aled release this as a single and Auty wasn’t credited for the film at the time. Aled got famous. Auty says he doesn’t mind. That’s the mixup!

@Joshua Bicknell I switched from piano to organ 30 years ago and never looked back. The organ beats the piano to a frazzle. I didn't know Forest Green then; I first heard it a few months AFTER I fell in love with the organ. The melody that made me fall in love with the organ was Dix, which is still my second favorite. My favorite professional organist played Dix so beautifully. She played everything beautifully but that particular tune definitely was "the one" back then.

There were several before this one, I'm sure more are still to come, but right now, at this point of my life (it's been holding me for a week now, and it will continue to do so for a couple more I think) this unusual duet is the most beautiful thing I can treat my ears with. There's nothing that comes close. And it's very uplifting and fulfilling. So thanks Aled.

"Walking In The Air" We're walking in the air, We're floating in the moonlight sky, The people far below are sleeping as we fly. I'm holding very tight, I'm riding in the midnight blue, I'm finding I can fly so high above with you. Far across the world, The villages go by like dreams, The rivers and the hills, The forest and the streams. Children gaze open mouthed, Taken by suprise, Nobody down below believes their eyes. We're surfing in the air, We're swimming in the frozen sky, We're drifting over icy mountains floating by. Suddenly swooping low, On an ocean deep, Rousing up a mighty monster from his sleep. We're walking in the air, We're dancing in the midnight sky, And everyone who sees us greets us as we fly.

I remember this very well - in the key of D minor although Peter Auty sang the original Snowman theme. I am six months older than Aled and an exact contemporary, so recall his long boy treble career.

Absolutely beautiful 🥰 the harmonies between the child and adult self are magical. Literally and metaphorically.

There are times I wish I had been older to experience something nostalgic when it was new, rather than as received memory. This is one such time. All the same, it’s still powerful, seeing all the images in my head. The house from above, the cruise ship, the girl staring in wonder and best of all, the school of whales.

I remember finding the video of "The Snowman" at our local children's library. I was not familiar with the story, but thought it would be a nice video for my young daughter to watch. I don't recall her age - perhaps four or five. She was contentedly watching it but burst into tears as soon as Aled began singing this song. I had to stop the video. As others have commented - the melody and harmony are beautiful and sad at the same time.

I had the same reaction as a small child to hearing this song! It’s not the words, it’s not the sound, it’s nothing about the superficial aspects of it… there’s something that Aled does that creates space for great wisdom to pass through, a room he creates in this reality for us to experience something truly magical… and even now as an adult I find this overwhelming!

I don't remember exactly what year it was but I remember being gifted with this beautiful film and this beautiful song by my dear late mother one Valentine's day. I was about 5 or 6 and I am now 34. The magic of the Snowman has NEVER left me. This song takes you places. I love you, Mama.
