Aaaaaahhhhhhh gd old wells. Wow the memories I have there as a child the ponies that used to b in the car park. Dennis on the sea front doing sea food the crabbing wow so many great find memories. Gd summer or winter x

The old lifeboat station was demolished end of 2022 when the new one opened. It was iconic and a real shame. Wells won't be the same without it. A bit like the train thats also gone. Some years back they opened access along the top of the dunes and you get some stunning views out to sea through the pines. Also, the self service petrol station in Wells has some of the lowest pricing in north Norfolk!

I live in wells and my sister used to work at the beach cafe. She said the little beach hut was used for storage, and that they had to lock it because people kept leaving their rubbish inside it

So many memories of Wells as a young boy, watching the grain boats and going on the fair on the quay side and Huss and chips from the chip shop opposite. All gone now I guess.

Enjoyed this, Happy memories of living in that area before moving to Norwich. This is definitely another one to show to the residents at the care home I work at just like your Yarmouth wooden rollercoaster which I’m still playing to some at the care home and they all love it. It makes good talking points.

Wells: The best place in Norfolk for chips, and the first place I tried that local delicacy, Samphire. I've known this place for five decades and seen few changes. This is a place that never grows old on me... and the beach... Speaks for itself. Cheers for another great video, Tim 👍😃

Some of the boats owners that’s out in the channel have a smaller boat moored at the bottom of the flood defences on the way to the beach

Another lovely snap shot of Wells and the beaches. We’re staying in a house in Brancaster Staithe next week just to get our winter fix of North Norfolk, but looking forward to March 15th when Pinewoods Holiday park reopens for the year and to get back to our caravan. Thanks for another great video , you put so much effort and energy into your vlogs, it doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated. Keep up the good work !!

Thanks for this. I've been to Wells several times but - believe it or not - never walked as far as the beach. Always stayed around the harbour area, considering that the 'sea front'. It's absolutely stunning! I'll definitely make the trek next time! :)

I bought a sheepskin rug from the butchers a few years ago when I was on holiday. It's by the side of my bed and lovely to step onto as well as being a nice reminder of my time in Norfolk

I love these videos also I love Wells, I have been many times walking from Wells centre to the pinewoods and back around in a big loop. So gutted about the train I can't understand why! Been on that many times as a kid now am 33.

Just watched this with my partner and totally shocked that the train line and train is gone now, we've moved back to Yorkshire now but it was the highlight of Wells. Pinewoods stopped letting people pitch their tents there, and for me that's when it started going downhill. I remember camping and bank holidays used to be packed with tents. Such a shame!

And now sadly it's gone forever... Why?... Did you ever find out my friend?... Whenever children were on holiday in Wells... The miniature railway was always special and fun for kids to ride... I'm devastated that we'll never see the little miniature railway engine riding along the track again... I still can't believe it!... All the best Tim... Keep up the good work buddy. 👍

@@Mpayne1472 You're a star Martyn... I was wondering why it had closed... I thought it might have been due to the various lockdown's we've had over the last couple of years... But the owners retiring seems to make sense too... Especially with the uncertainty about whether it was still an economically viable business due to the Covid restrictions... Potential buyers of this much loved little Miniature Railway... Would probably be taking a huge gamble on whether or not it could actually make money in the future... But i'm so pleased to hear that it has been replaced by an Electric Bus Service for the enjoyment of holiday makers... Whether they're new visitors or are returning once again to Beautiful Wells-Next-The-Sea... I'm now sat here with a big smile on my face my friend... After finally finding out the answer i wanted to know... But also for the additional information that there's now an alternative Electric Bus Service for the enjoyment of holiday makers... Not been to Wells for many years, ( 1970’s ) I used to visit Holkham Pines to see the Parrot Crosbills there was an RSPB information hut/caravan, as you started to walk over the car park I was reminded of the large cafe on the right, but I had never known about the wooden building opposite, and the sad demise of the miniature railway, what can I say, did you find out why it stopped, my favourite place on the North Norfolk coast was Cley, used to stay at the Harnser B & B, now called Cooke’s of Cley, fondest memories was Nancy’s Cafe, where a famous TV celebrity used to hang out with other birdwatchers CB’s in hand waiting for the news from coastguards ( Seawatching ) and salthouse marsh for sightings of interesting birds, all my trips were in October to May for the migration and passage birds, never visited in the summer months, but looks very nice, thanks Tim for rekindling fond memories

Lots of bird watching still takes place in the winter and locals visit more, as it is less crowded, so that is why the shops are still open.

Great little video of Wells, there’s so much more to Wells than the beach. From Buttlands head towards church through the old streets and see the original high street with old shop fronts etc and the amazing Bowling Green pub, proper pub grub 😉 Walk round to the Coop and that’s where the original port was where the flint wall around the field opposite the coop is - medieval times!!

You missed a couple of things......... The cider makers lovely ciders of various strengths, and also the part of the beach just past the beach huts where they tell you via a recorded message and a siren to move off that part of the beach as the tide is coming in and you will be stuck on an island!

Nice enough little film about our town, until you mentioned BBQ's!!! Please note everyone that views this film, BBQ's and fires of any description ARE NOT PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON THE NORTH NORFOLK COAST. We, as Pinewoods wardens, spend too many hours of our lives along with our colleagues at the National Nature Reserve putting out reckless BBQ's and fires on the the beach, in the dunes and in the pinewoods. If the pinewoods catch fire it will destroy them and the beach huts. Please. please don't do this. We will put out any BBQ or fire that we find, it will spoil your day, not ours.

Apart from the mini railway disappearing Wells has also lost the Dutch schooner Albatros, great place for a pancake and a pint of Wherry. Will it ever return I am not too sure on that.

Places like Wells are beautiful - unfortunately the average Joe has been priced out of ever living there - like in so many places by the sea - the big complaint is mostly that they are now full of air- b-n-b places and they are dead out of season

Wonderful as always Tim; thank you very much for this. Hope Gabby and the little one are well too? Never even heard of Wells. Should be called "Nowhere near the Bloody Sea" as that walk to the beach is ridiculous. The town however looks gorgeous. Anywhere near Cromer?

A lot of the old shops have closed and been replaced with trendy upmarket places with no character,its probably going to end up like Burnam Market.

It was a maltings , not a brewery, thus the name, wells maltings. I work there by the way, shame you skipped it in such a hurry.

Lovely place but feel it's growing more commercial. The closing of the railway is so sad.

@@WalkWithMeTim apologies, poor choice of wording on my part 😂. I mean more expensive and unaffordable for low income families. From accommodation to eating out the prices are crazy. My Grandparents had a caravan in the 80s and 90s at pinewoods, now it can be £700 to £1000 to stay in an average caravan for a week. I think it all started going wrong for me when they replaced the Fish and Chip shop at Pinewoods with a gym 😂. I'm sure they also limited the amount of camping around Wells now. Regardless of all that a lovely look round a beautiful spot in Norfolk Tim and a place that will always hold many childhood memories for me and my family. I'll occasionally still visit but most likely for a day trip.
