carpet will make so much dust and really hard to clean. i think pouring epoxy will be best choice. will cost more i guess but it will last forever, it will be dustfree and easy to clean.

Here in Belgium we often use “Floorify” and it’s a sort of carpet that clicks into each other (a bit like lego 😆) Easy to place and looks really nice! Maybe something to think about 😊

I love the space! I’m so excited to see what the final product looks like, and see your progression on the Lego city 2.0! I know you’ve got a lot of opinions flowing in about the carpet, and I wanted to say I think it’s a great idea. My one concern and a possible solution is water getting in under the garage door. Not sure what kind of rain you get where you are but where I live it’s bad. I had a new garage door with top of the line weather proofing put in on my garage when I moved in, and whenever we get rain, there’s about a 2in line of water near the door bottom every time. No matter how hard the rain it never comes in further than that, but might be worth keeping in mind! Plus if you give it about 6in buffer near the garage door, you still have the option of backing just the back of a truck or vehicle in enough to unload a Lego haul on double points days without putting tires on carpet! I know you’re super thorough about all of this, but I just wanted to share my experience in hopes it helps!!

Love seeing the progress. I'd highly recommend paying a bit extra for a tempered glass railing for the loft, at least in the center. The reason is two-fold. First, if you film up there and want the city visible in the background, your sight-lines will be blocked most of the time by an opaque shelving railing. Second, as the kids get older and more mobile, they'll be able to climb up shelves as of they're ladders and be able to crawl over the edge. I know you'll keep a close eye on them, especially with so much Lego around, but there's a reason all deck and playground railings have vertical rather than horizontal slats. It may even become a code issue. Keep up the amazing work. Setting up a studio is fun and a lot of work. (I'm a professional balloon artist and have a lot of experience making a safe studio where my kids can play alongside my work.)

Hey, I just have suggestion for the flooring. I would recommend cork flooring, which helps with the sound-proofing and also insulation. And it is also better than carpet when it comes to dust and hygiene as it is antimicrobial and hypoallergenic. Maybe worth a thought. Love the new space and content.

I like the carpet idea, I would double check for any storm/water leakage from the overhead door. I would also recommend a lift style system (attic lift?) from the mezzanine to the main floor. New sets and parts up and down and down and up can be quite a few trips on a staircase.

Hello Bricksie, I'd suggest you asking your contractor about an epoxy system finish for your floor, todays technology gives you color and finish options as well as the option to add flakes to it. This kind of system would level and hide any imperfection in the concrete slab. I would stay away from carpet for this application. Also a lot easier to clean.

I would build a half wall in the big warehouse area to block off the view of the garage door, then that gives a secondary room for storage, etc. It also would make the room feel better, and you could customize, paint, add shelves, etc. You wouldn't be missing that space, it would only need to be a false wall roughly 6 feet away from the door. Then you wouldn't need to carpet that area, but could carpet the city space.

So much usable space! great to see a bigger room up front. If you go with carpeting in the main area, I'd say make a 8-10 foot wide "foyer" with cheap laminate tile along the back wall. That way, if you ever do use the doors, you have tile that can be swept off & mopped along that whole back wall. If you ever back up a truck to load out Lego (you may want to do conventions later in life) you will have a buffer zone of tile to pull the rear tires onto. I actually think carpet will help with sound dampening. You can build DIY sound diffusers out of scrap lumber and hang them from the ceiling for acoustic treatment.

Carpet in the main "warehouse" area will also help to reduce the echo. General rule of thumb, hard surfaces increase the sound reverberation and softer surfaces will help deaden it.

I’m super happy for you Jordan! If I can offer a suggestion for the garage door. They are typically not very well insulated, and they are NOT weather or wind sealed. Just the other day, ours at work had the cables vibrating and chain swaying on a windy day. Oh, and when it pours rain, with wind, it can come in. You’ll really want to insulate the edges to make your space comfy and dry. Perhaps a tiled area near the door, then carpet just incase. 🤔

Since you are getting radiant heating put in, it should be simple enough to extend it into the rooms in the back and just eliminate the smaller furnace next to the water heater, which would eliminate the ugly ductwork entirely. The wall demo was clean. The ceiling in that room has a textured ceiling which can be scraped off if you want a nice smooth look in that "Star Wars" room.

Did you give any thought about relocating the furnace and water heater above the wash room? Walling it all upstairs and extending the pony wall off it. That way those two appliances are off main floor and out of sight. Would also give you a little more room on the floor. From the Video all your line go up so it should be hard to relocate. You can run your air line then in your pony wall and feed them into rooms from the ceiling. Just a thought

First of all! Congratulations on the new space! It’s awesome. Second of all, I own a sign and print shop in Indiana, my suggestion would be to find a local sign shop to help you with the possible sky banners and back wall curtains. Also have them printed on canvas as it won’t reflect light as much as a vinyl banner. I would offer my services but logistics would probably get in the way. Good luck man! I will be watching and keep up the great content. Best LEGO city on the internet imo!

If it were my space, I would run carpet squares in the entire warehouse, which will really help cut down on the noise. Just inside of the overhead door, I would box off an area about 3 feet in and use an epoxy paint there just in case you get leaks or water in from a heavy storm that comes under the overhead door, you would not have to worry about the carpet getting wet.

Great Warehouse. Love the space, but you could also replace the flooring throughout the whole space to make it cohesive and not look so much like a warehouse. Another cool thing you could do is paint the walls like clouds to not only repaint the walls but make it look like actual clouds that would be more neat

This must be a very exciting time for you, and us as well being we get to watch you expand in such a big way! I know you are still in the early stages of construction and development, but an option to reduce echo is to hang large moving mats along the tops of your walls. It's kind of a quick and dirty solution but is relatively affordable and I've seen it used in another KZfaqrs warehouse space. The thing is, even if you populate the ground area with furniture, Lego, etc, having such a high ceiling will be difficult and costly to treat properly. Just a suggestion.

You could keep the benefits of a loading bay, and just stud partition off the back of the warehouse; with a few central pillars you can have a plasterboard roof. You need the warehouse's length, but the height is only useable to a point, and a space that size will cost a fortune to heat. I'd forget the upstairs part, and stud-out a huge office type space within the warehouse, which can have an insulated roof; either kingspan or insulation rolls. Essentially, a huge stud building within a building, with a door at the back to the roller doors and loading bay. When it's finished, to your viewers it'll just seem like a massive office; not the inside of an old warehouse. That's probably the same cost as decorationg, with a better end result; and your energy costs will be much lower.

You could turn it into 1 huge room, it would have exposed load bearing posts and beams but I'm sure the posts could be lego rendered to make them features 🤔 Vinyl floorboards would probably look tidier and more uniformed plus keep it a little warmer in winter. A suggestion for the roller door, why not make it look like a giant 2x2 lego logo tile? Get a vinyl sign writer put a lego logo sticker across the whole roller door.

If you really need to hide the rolling door and back door, you could frame it out and have it in its own small "outer" room. Yes, it would cut into the space for the city, but it would entirely remove the problem of that showing up in any videos (and might have insulation benefits as well).

I would not put carpet on the floor of the loft because you'll have a chair that needs to roll around from desk to desk which is very difficult on carpet. It's also easier to find and hear where small pieces go if dropped. You also might find exercise puzzle mats more comfortable on your feet and knees than carpet in the main city area

Agree with putting carpet in the warehouse. Will help with the echo and dust situation. Plus it will take away from the "warehouse" look and make it look like a studio. I know it's a lot of cost, but it cheaper and easier to do it now than later when you have a warehouse full of stuff to navigate around. Just make sure you have someone check the rolling door. Not sure your situation behind the building, but rolling doors are notorious for leaking and not weather proof. If it rains up against it, it usually leaks and with carpet, that's going to be an issue. Your also going to lose a lot of heat through that door, so maybe replacing weather seals and some insulation would help in the long run with costs. Personally, I think you should do glass panels on the mezzanine for your railing. I think putting shelving in is going to take away from the aesthetics. Put they are probably a bit pricy...just a thought... I would carpet the whole place. Your front area is not very large so the cost would be minimal and it would look so much better. Plus shelving tends to wobble on tiles like that. Super excited for the new journey your on. Good luck!
