"great job installing it" WHAT!? He put the beam sensors way to high and the lock is supposed to go at about waist high & no more than an inch above the wheel. He has it like six above the wheel. Also the cable sensor is too far back.
@GDOs
@GDOs 3 жыл бұрын
@@AztecWarrior69 no it looked good to me. sensors were high because of track mount, lock is ok if it’s up because it probably lined up with lock holes, and the tensioner is fine.

I've been a garage door guy for 20 years this is the easiest opener install. I'm an industrial commercial service tech I work on all the high-speed doors and docks. Once in awhile I'll do a residential for a friend or a family member and I'm used to things being difficult. If you don't know much about garage doors you can put this in. I wanted to see you did an excellent job on your video really put out some good information out there. I had to reference your video because I thought this was just too easy I thought I was doing something wrong LOL

I like this over older models because of the lock and relocation of emergency release cord. A little more security!
@user-nf7ui7dz1z

You could disable all your safety stuff and get better security but make sure you reinstall it before you sell your home and remember that if some idiot gets stuck under your door, including and especially if that is an intruder you will be sued into oblivion and your insurance will tell you to pound sand since you disabled the emergency release by removing the dumb handle.

Two questions how much shaft needs to be sticking out ? And how much clearance do you need above the shaft to make it fit before the unit hits the ceiling?

Really good install on your emergency release I didn’t see the emergency release wrote but I did see the handle I was wondering how that was installed and your door lock is not supposed to be on the bottom of the garage door track it’s supposed to be on the third roller and then your safety sensors they are supposed to be mounted no more than 6 inches above the garage floor and for extra insurance of your wiring for your safety sensor is not to get ripped out you put pigtails on the safety sensors before you staple them on the wall and then if they ever get ripped out You have about a foot or two of safety sensor wiring left because it’s in the pigtail
@1D10CRACY
@1D10CRACY 3 жыл бұрын
You mean people keep the safety sensors installed? ;) I never install my safety sensors that low for a few reasons. 6" is low enough that it will clear the underside of my truck. If for some reason I have my truck backed half way into the garage and someone accidentally pushes the button, the truck could get dented. Especially with these style of door openers, as they don't reverse direction until the cable shows slack and the weight of the door is already sitting on something. I also wash my garage floors out with a water hose and like to keep them higher so they don't get wet. They obviously need to be low enough to see a pet or a child. The lock just sits above one of the rollers, in theory you can stick it anywhere, as long as it is above a roller. I placed mine low enough it wouldn't get beat up by the electric car charger Cable. It sits inside the frame of the door enough I wasn't worried about it getting wet when hosing down the garage floor.

I work at A1 garage door. That is not where the auto lock is supposed to go and the original comment was all facts
@ratspam7655
@ratspam7655 10 ай бұрын
03:35 The lock usually goes above the second roller. Your safety sensors are more than 6in. off the ground which is not permitted by the operating manual. 04:06 If there is no tension on the cable, the cable has broken or worse, the spring has broken which would burn out the motor. 07:48 If you buy the Chamberlain RJ020 you get the Internet gateway included.
@1D10CRACY
@1D10CRACY 10 ай бұрын
Yes, the tension is important and that is a sensor that tells the garage door opener that tension has been lost. As for the lock and safety sensors, the person who made the manual forgot to mention their positions are optional. ;) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aKx9fKVyr864opc.htmlsi=UwouMNFfaOshDHag

Reach through the weatherstrip with a coat hanger and pull the emergency release that every criminal will use. Add an exterior keypad and battery backup on the opener with an occasional garage door spring adjustment so the opener doesn't go into safety lockout mode due to the tensioner becoming weaker over time.

So you say gravity pushes the door down? That means you have to adjust the spring so that the door is always heavy? Normal adjustment is when the garage door stays where it is put anywhere along the track manually.
@bills6946
@bills6946 7 ай бұрын
Before you install, release the old lift and lift the door by hand halfway. If the door stays there, no spring adjustment is needed. If it drops, add one turn to each spring. If the door opens and closes is uneven, unwind both springs and rewind equally.

I'm not really sure what brands are supposed to be better. By what I can tell Chamberlain, Merlin, Grifco, Liftmaster and some Craftsman are all being made by the same company. I've had really good experiences with Liftmaster and figured I would just keep with the brand. The two on the attached garage are now 25 years old and still working well. That makes it pretty hard to complain. :)

Torsion springs are not wound the same or the track is spread. Measure between the track and make sure they are the same distance apart vertically and horizontally. I would unwind both springs and rewind so you know they are the same.
