You need to build a 4x8 table to work off of and get off the floor. When you get to be in your 60s like me your back will thank you. Miter saw can go on it too with still enough room to work. I’m running an LX 55, milling lumber for myself and a few extra jobs every now and then works great. Built a well house chicken coop and paneled the inside of my wife’s she shed 8x20, all milled on LX 55.

Eastern Red Cedar. Properly named Virginian Juniper (Juniperus Virginiana). It is, for absolute certainty, the best spelling wood known to mankind.

Leave that wood open-grained for the full strength smell. No Poly finish. Put it in a closet for storing your canned goods. The added bonus, the wonderful smell will keep the pesky moths away from anything wool! And all that aromatic cedar sawdust. Sew up some muslin bags of sachet for the same purpose. Better than the horrible smelling mothballs.

If they're thick enough, those off cuts make pretty good benches. That's what I do with mine. They usually sell for $100-$150 each.

Loud Paint Saves Lives. Not loud pipes. More important to be seen than heard. When I hear a loud motorcycle or car coming I look everywhere else out of fear what other drivers will do when distracted. Then again I am old enough I spent $2500 to upgrade the suspension on my Yamaha FJR for better handling and ride. Was due at 50,000 miles. Not too important if one rides 25 miles. Very important for 250 miles.

Two suggestions. Sand your pieces before assembly if you are not going to put it through a planer. Much smother . Also i put my urethane on with a cloth. Smoother finish and less sanding. No thick spots. I too cut cedar on my land and mill it on a small saw mill. Great project. Nice job

Pretty cool shelves! The bike is looking pretty darn good. Yeah, those shorty pipes will really bark on the Sporty. I run straight pipes on my Shovelhead but they're long tubes which are little more mellow. 👍👍👍
