I was wondering what the walnut blaster was going to be used for! Them's a lot cleaner than they were for sure. Funny you mention vag di engines suffering from build up of carbon, I am just ordering bits and bobs to clean the throttle body/anti-shudder part of my 2.0TDI. I'm having to really get my brave up to do it so hopefully it'll go ok. Is it recommended to disconnect the battery positive terminal first for taking this part off and giving it a good clean, or is it ok to leave the battery hooked up? I have an OBD11 reader and the app says the engine light is on because of a P0121 error, I cleared it but it came back, and looking about it seems that cleaning the throttle body should cure it. I've got a 1/4" torque wrench with a Torx30 bit coming, as well as adjustable spanners to unclip the large hose from the front of the throttle body. And some penetrating fluid just in case for the four long bolts, also some throttle body/egr cleaner spray, a load of sacrificial cloths that are going to get crucified (I guess) with the amount of gunk that's in there, also some toothbrushes, a box of gloves and a partridge in a pear tree. The only thing (I think!) I can't figure out is if I'll need a new gasket for it? It is a bit strange though as idle is rock-steady and throttle response seems ok. Still, after 188k it's well overdue a clean I would guess and to be fair it's done rather well to get this far.

Hi there Paul you failed to point out that each cylinder need to be at TDC so the both valves are fully closed before removeing any carbon deposits. looking forward to the fire up.

Also, the eBay stuff isn't just about cars We were rebuilding our IKEA wardrobe and had lost a few of the fittings for the sliding doors A quick trawl on the net showed that they were discontinued so we went to search eBay £5 for one thing, £8 for something else, 50p for a screw, etc Rude words were uttered and then we found that IKEA will give you those bits FOR FREE!!!!!!! and EVEN BETTER!!!! THEY WILL POST THEN TO YOUR HOUSE!!!! £60 we saved

I know exactly where you are coming from with eBay. I have seen with a number of items that a used item is more expensive on ebay than the new item from a shop. This seems to count for all sorts of items not just car related. It is as if the seller thinks we don't look anywhere but ebay.

Ebay is a lost cause, because people are too greedy. So, I've stopped buying from there. A couple of months ago I purchased a watch part from the USA that was sold as "NOS" (New old stock) It cost me £143.00 and it was used, faulty, and of no use whatsoever. Long story short............Ebay were of no help, so I contacted PayPal. The seller sold the part as "no return," so PayPal found in the seller's favour because I could not show them a return postage slip .I didn't have the seller's address, even if I could send it back. So, I'm £143.00 out of pocket, because of a dodgy seller and no support from Ebay nor PayPal. Paul, I have a slight gripe with your videos. There is far too much camera jerking and movement going on that it makes me "sea sick!" That apart, I like to watch the techniques and progress.

Nice back to real engines instead of the battery nonsense.
