Walnut Cove is my hometown and my family has been in the area since the 1750s. I grew up and still live there and there is no other place I'd rather be. I hope you enjoyed your visit and will come back again!

Hi John and Jodi! This video is totally remarkable! I really enjoy all of your videos. Appalachian people are so geniune, fantastic, and GOD fearing! Their values and morals are simply spectacular, and their unrelenting faith and kindness are awesome. I also really appreciate how they are so very history driven and adamant about preserving history and historic structures and items. Wow!

Since I've been watching these videos about Kathy's store and the town, I turned around and discovered that my great grandfather lived in Walnut Cove for a while before moving his family on to Amelia county Virginia. This was 1912. He was from Cana Virginia. I'm just amazed that I have a family connection to this town. I need to visit there. Thank y'all so much!

I love these videos. I'm 62 and where I grew up across from my Grandparents that lived along the river, there was a little bitty store that sold bait, tackle, bread and a few grocery items. There was a cooler filled with water and that cooler kept the water cold and it was full of soda pop bottles that floated in that cold water. My favorite was Kayo chocolate soda pop. They were 10 cents a bottle. Me and my cousins would buy 2 or 3 bottles and take them up behind my grandparents house and sit them under a cold natural spring that flowed down off the bluff. Man those were the good old days !!

We’ve ground a BUNCH of hog and cow feed right there in that mill. We used to go every Saturday morning. You had to get there extremely early because it would be a line of people needing to grind corn. Boy how things have changed now. We grind our own feed now but it used to be a highlight of the week because we got to see everyone else and talk. Glad to see Ronnie is still going. We hardly ever make it down to walnut cove anymore

Another fun video John and Jodi ! It's good to see these reminders of my childhood growing up in the deep south. The grain mill was interesting as was the hardware store and I would bet the service area down in the basement is even more interesting. Everybody seems to know everybody which is expected in a small town.. Hope Jodi is feeling better. I noticed several of the classic cars that I've owned before. Good times!

I used to live in Walnut cove years ago. The train would come behind our home every morning. I'd be having a cup of tea and the conductor would be waving. Walnut cove is a lovely little town. When I was there they was Ingles, I think there was one laundromat, and I want to say there was a family dollar's type of store. The school was right up the street from us.I really enjoyed living there.
