Walnut Farmhouse Table with Breadboard Ends

I recently finished this solid walnut farmhouse table with breadboard ends. The majority of the construction was done using traditional joinery such as drawbored mortise and tenons for the breadboard and regular mortise and tenons for the legs.
After amassing a very large number of video clips, I decided I wasn't going to stick with my normal style of instructional video and try to release something that is hopefully more entertaining.

first of all: love the video...great work! I'm just getting started (as a hobby) and I have a friend who wants me to make them a table like this (although not out of walnut!). Here's my question, why did you plane the ends that are going to be glued together? Aren't they already square from the cuts on the table saw?

beautiful table ....the joinery is great...i just wonder though ...what part of it is a farm table? it looks more like a piece of art...i was just today at the potery barn store in pasadena ca. they have a table for sale for $2800 and the top is very uneven... the joinery is not that great...on top of that it is pine...

I still get envious of the same thing.. I'm not sure that you're ever satisfied with what you have. I've been running a sawmill for a couple years and now that I've got stacks of slabs starting to become dry I'm looking at my 13" planer and trying to figure out how I can make a serious upgrade.
