When we moved into a newly constructed home 20 years ago, our carpenter Son-in-Law made us a custom corian cutting board with the blood channel on one side. It’s green, to match our kitchen. I simply put a non-slip rubber pad under it. It cleans up easily with almost any all-purpose kitchen cleaner. My knives don’t seem to take a beating since they are taken care of with occasional sharpening and frequent honing on a rod. Previously, my wooden cutting boards got scared, stained, and needed a weekly maintenance regimen.

Enjoyed it so much that I lost it two days ago and had to search my history to find it again. Excellent to the point educational video! Headed to get the magnets now. Thank you sir!

Great job! This is about the 8th video I've watched on mobile bases. I really like yours, but I'm going to make one that I can operate with my foot instead of bending down to turn a knob. I also saw a version with a cam on the 2 x 4 timber, but that may be more difficult for me to make. Cheers. Keep up the good work.

I appreciate you don’t show every minute of sanding, cutting, etc. Nicely organized and presented video. Great project results! Question…it is hard for me to tell on my screen just how shiny the results of the finish is. Would you call it a brilliant result? The technique is very interesting. Thanks for your wonderful video.

Ty, - great video and technique. I have one question that I'm finding very little input on and would appreciate your thoughts. I am currently building a chest of drawers which will have a solid wood top and breadboard ends. My question is, how long do you make the breadboard end relative to the top, given that the top will expand (or contract) relative it, without making it look like a goof. My top will be 20" deep using 3/4" poplar. Much appreciated.

Thank you for great video! What sheen are you using? I have gloss 4 coats of satin, 5th coat is gloss. I am going for semi gloss, should I use semi gloss poly or would wet sanding give semigloss sheen to gloss poly? Thank you

Cool video. Are the magnets you used stronger than rare earth magnets? The reason I ask is I have the Rockler Jointer Pal and I had trouble keeping the Jointer Pal level with the table. My jointer has springs which force the blades up and the pressure of the springs can overcome the streangth of the magnets in the Jointer Pal.

As I understand it, the wipe on ploy is already diluted poly, so adding 2 parts mineral spirits to 1 part wipe on poly makes a much more diluted mixture than 2:1 poly to mineral spirits.

As far as vises go, this was my method for a couple of years. I had a 7’ peninsula I saved from a job into which I mortised a T track, drilled two holes through the hand screws put 3/8” round head bolts in the T track then the hand screws fastened with knobs I made on the drill press.

Thanks for this video, I was glad to see your PPE when cutting the cookies. An errant chainsaw will go through human flesh as easy as a hot knife through butter and through bones as easy as a warm knife through refrigerated butter. I look forward to future video's about what you do with those cookies. As always safety first.

Hey Ty, I have been out of woodworking for years. Sold our house with a shop and sold most of my tools. I use to chime in on the comments of the live streams back then. Just wanted to say I am sorry about your cousins passing and sorry to hear about Braxton passing. Both were great men. Hope you are doing well.

These are great for any enclosed bin dust extractor. The Oneida system is nice, but expensive for what it is at $170 currently. For those not electronics handy, it is a good solution. I was able to source the same IR sensor on Amazon, along with other parts, to build my own for less than half the cost (~$65) and it has the added benefit of a an audible alarm along with the flashing light I can hear over the shop tool noise. It also has a dual NO/NC relay that I could even use to control the extractor power in the future... shut it off when the bin is full. A desired update of mine for down the road.

Love the simplicity of this jig. Now if only the magnets would stay stuck to the hot glue 🤔. They come off very easily.

Maybe I'm missing something but I set my sentry up with a new Supercell and powered it from the cord that comes out of the start button module. My problem with it is that the infrared light is always on unless I shut off the breaker. Seems like this is a design flaw- shouldn't it only come on when I turn on the Supercell?
