I've been wanting to make my son a growth chart for a couple of weeks now, and finally got time to do it! Overall I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

Impressive! Those tolerances for the puzzle tabs, wow. Never made anything I didnt have to do a bit of sanding or persuading with a hammer.

Thanks! I was impressed too! One jigsaw piece did need some sanding, but the rest were good!

Hey great work! cool to see the machine making some cuts. One suggestion on these kind of projects, with painted features and a natural finish on the wood - use vinyl masking sheets! They will cut very cleanly with the router and leave you a super crisp line so you can paint in those numbers and not have to try and sand off paint in the future.

Thanks! That's a great idea, I wouldn't have thought of that!

Vinyl masking tape can be kind of expensive. I tried regular contact paper like you'd use to line a cabinet but they didn't work as well as I would have liked. I'd like to find a less expensive solution because it is an excellent idea.

Hey, I love the growth chart! What were the tolerances you used for the puzzle pieces?
@ProjectsbyBrian
@ProjectsbyBrian Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I actually didn't have to use anything. I'm not sure if it was because my bit wasn't exactly 6mm, or what, but they ended up fitting together well by just cutting the lines as is. I got lucky on that part, you could say haha.
