It's a jam-packed first day as we spend a rainy morning in Wintergarden exploring the shops, streets and cafes and have lunch at The Crooked Can Brewing Co. & Plant Street Market. Back at Port Orleans we take a walk from Riverside to French Quarter then end up in Animal Kingdom for a few hours before heading to Kidani Village for dinner at Sanaa.
Subscribe for future videos every Saturday at 5 p.m.
It's day one of the trip and we decide to avoid the crowds and road closures due to the Run Disney event and head to the Wintergreen farmers market. Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather most of the vendors have stayed away so we go for coffee and a muffin at the Axum Coffee Shop until the rain clears.
We discover Adjectives, a boutique store home decor, gift and furniture store and explore the downtown Wintergarden area before heading to The Crooked Can Brewing Co. & Plant Street Market where we share some pulled pork loaded fries for lunch.
Back at the resort we make the most of the afternoon sunshine and take a walk to Port Orleans French Quarter which is very different but just as stunning as Riverside.
Then it's off to Animal Kingdom on the Disney Transportation bus for our first park visit of the trip. The park is looking splendid in the late afternoon sunshine and we are pleasantly surprised to see the Christmas decorations still up.
After a quick coffee from Creature Comforts we make our way to Harambe to enjoy the last Kilimanjaro Safari of the day.
As we wander from Africa to Asia we soak up the park atmosphere and grab some egg rolls to keep us going from the Yak and Yeti quick serve. We take a detour into Dinoland U.S.A to see the wacky Christmas lights and decide to ride Dinosaur before heading back to Discovery Island and watch It's Tough to be a Bug.
We catch the Tree of Life Awakenings projection show before leaving the park and taking the bus to Kidani Village. We kill a bit of time at the resort before ending the day with dinner at Sanaa.

Hi there! Found y’all looking for videos of Port Orleans Riverside. We check in there in 35 days! We are Floridians so we don’t have to travel nearly as far as you do. Ironically we are actually going for a Run Disney event, and then staying to play after. Went in 2017got an upgrade to animal kingdom was unbelievable waking up to seeing all the zebras, and other animals walking round outside our balcony, we had a whole suite two massive bedrooms kitchen laundry area. 2 weeks of bliss

I went to middle and high school in Winter Garden back in the 80s. Back then downtown was really rundown. It nice to see how it turned around to be a hotspot for Central Florida. On another note, my dad was a welder/fabricator. The company he worked for would get subcontracted by WDW for certain projects. One of the projects was the trucks for Kilimanjaro Safari.

@@CheersEars know what you mean but AK really needs some investment. Africa and Asia work well, Pandora is amazing but really feels like they need to open up dino land even more to create a real big area with some great theming. Can’t see them ever building a 5th park before getting the other 4 all full and completely up to date and AK is really the only one that is stopping them with that goal.

We stayed at Riverside in 1998 but in those days the hotel was called Dixie Landings (not appropriate any more unfortunately). The maids were all exactly like the ones in Tom & Jerry

Am glad it wasn't just us with Sanaa we went there a few years ago and being big curry fans we were very disappointed. It baffles me how many British vloggers rave about it when as you say you can get better from your local takeaway. Wet Thor had me creasing up 🤣

It's not just you, we have been to Sanaa a couple of times and loved it. Our last trip in 2022 we went again and had been really looking forward to it, but it was just a bit meh. Menu had changed for the worse, food was very bland, no real heat from any of the dishes.

My goodness, I hope it wasn’t too scary. Winter Garden is safe and very old. Next time, I will drive you guys up! Seriously! Bless you guys! The parking spaces are really hard to find during the summer. Our dentist is there in an old referb house. Rent is about 5000 a month at Plant Street.

Thank you for showing us Winter Garden. We were the same after spending some time in Celebration. Love where your room was located at Riverside. Our room was in the Aligator Bayou section and there were lots of trees and foliage around our room. Great by day but quite scary at night. Just booked our DVC accommodation for October and have chosen OKW (a favourite of yours we believe?) Any advice/tips are welcome. Have a great week and take care🥰.

You're super welcome and I can see how the bayou area could be a bit creepy. Hope you love okw as much as we do. It's a big resort so it you can get close to hospitality house that would be a bonus but not essential.

Just back from Riverside, we had a great time, looks like we stayed next to you in the block by the little pool. Two weeks after you were there the pool at French quarter had been ripped up. Wife likes the Indiana Jones version in California, you need to sit in the front row to get the best view, I prefer Dinosaur, shame it’s going soon. Just a query why you did not get resort mugs? Best thing we did. Looking forward to the rest of the vlogs.

Thanks so much. I think I like the safari even more having done the Africa Trek. Seems to have added to it. Such an awesome experience
