This basketball court in Walthamstow bothered me. Why was it here? Why was the railway right next to it?
Then I saw a map of Walthamstow from 1822 and realised the history of this land. This is where a large area of open land - a common - had been before 1850. This is where Walthamstow Common, or Church Common, had been - and all that remains is this basketball court.
Equipment
I shot this with a DJI Mini 2 drone and a Fujifilm X-T4, edited in Final Cut Pro with a bit of Motion 5 work.
Music
Only a touch of music on here:
Open Sea Morning by Puddle of Infinity, from the KZfaq Audio Library
Research
Lots of places for this.
The Vestry House Museum's instagram account showed me the map by John Coe.
