Sorry for the delay, it's still processing on KZfaq's end. I thought I'd try an "instant" premiere for once. Now I see that's not a good plan.

I got the PDP 5" Compact based a lot on your and Teya's review. The Compact fit my hand a bit better too. 👍 That and I got a great deal on it just before the Pro became available locally. 😁

Amazing video. I found out the PDP Match will be released to Switzerland soon so I run to youtube to see if there was any review. Of course I found yours :-) I didn't know you had this other channel, subscribed immediately of course. I look forward to see how it shoots, but from what I saw in this video, it's definitely a buy.

Im an IPSC competion shooter - and have waited for the steel but that is a steal ;-) but will get one. If I should go for an polymer as my second pistol ( I have the full size 5' with the performance trigger and tungsten guide rod) I would go with an full size 4,5' with performance trigger and tungsten rod. I think that should be an flater shouting pistol and return to Zero faster. Why ? becuase I think the 4,5' slide is ligher than the 5' Match slide and the weight should be more an the center on the gun

The PDP Match 5” looks a lot like my Walther PDP PRO SD - Full Size 5.1”, except for the slightly longer slide and the slide cuts. The question is if the longer slide and the slide cuts is worth switching to the Match 5”?

I have a PDP FS 5" with brass backstrap, brass baseplates, brass magwell, DPM recoil system, and an overwatch trigger kit. Would it be beneficial for me to get this version? The only obvious difference that i see would be the slide cuts. I would put all the add ons (minus the trigger) onto the Match version if i got it.

Hi Graham thanks for measuring the slide mass of the PDP match and 5" PDP. The slides are relatively light if I compare them to glock slide mass. I wonder if the light slide mass contribute to the snappy ness of the Walther?
@gbgunsmedia
@gbgunsmedia 6 ай бұрын
It could. There are a couple of theories. A heavy slide slams harder to the rear = more felt recoil OR a heavy slide soaks up more energy and causes less felt recoil. The opposite has also been argued. One thing that is certain is that lighter slides tend to cycle quicker.

@@gbgunsmedia Thanks for the reply. The recoil spring force, slide weight and cartridge energy and momentum needs to be balanced, so that the pistol return to point of aim as close as possible. This balance will also have the spring absorb most of the slide energy before the slide hit the frame.

Even if it can only be shown on your site, not KZfaq. Try the PPQ slides on PDP frames to see if you like it better, worse, or no noticeable difference.

There also is a PDP pro (without SD) which seems to be very similar to the match. Would like to see a paddle release version or other calibers being available 🙋🏻‍♀️

There is no such thing as a PDP Pro. It's not listed SKU, and there is no seller offering a "PDP pro". If you found someone selling a PDP Pro SD frame, with a standard PDP slide, that's purely coincidence.
@annacraft
@annacraft 6 ай бұрын
@@Osprey1994there is (at least here in Germany)and available at multiple sellers. The inner parts are coated for maritime applications according to the description, which seems to be a difference compared to the pro SD. Also here, when the pro SDs showed up they were missing on the Walther webpage for quite some time, so I wouldn’t really rely on that. 🙋🏻‍♀️

@@annacraft I thought the pro just means it has the performance trigger! As soon as i get my german WBK i will buy a CZ75 SP01 and i know that there will be a Walther P14 version for the civiian market which is the Walther PDP pro SD 5.1 (4.5inch slide) in cerakote FDE with Aimpoint acro. As you know the new pistol for the german special forces will be the P14. Im sure those will have maritime coating as well since the german Kampfschwimmer will get them as well. So my 2nd pistol will be the P14, not sure if that is possible since both are 9mm but CZ75 has no red dot, so that would be a reason for two 9mm guns. If that is not possible i would go for the P14 and a 1911 variant or even the Mark23 but it would be hurting my soul to use that as a regular sport pistol. Also walther has a customizing shop, they will do whatever you want, also cerakote etc.

@@danbarb9728 as far as I know the PDP pro in Germany (which is were I am also from) has the performance trigger and maritime coating. I got the pro SD compact. The trigger is not as good as on the steel frame PDP pro - probably due to more friction with polymer, although both have the performance trigger. I will have the store check it out next week as honestly I am a bit disappointed of the trigger. The one on mine has some slight creep after hitting the wall before the shot breaks. Also the factory sights are really terrible. I just replaced them with LPA sights but they would probably not fit when using an optic. Also the PDP pro SD (even the compact) is quite a bulky gun. I sometimes ask myself if the sfp 9 might have been a better choice for me but both guns are fine I guess. I use it for range and hunting. Oh, and the thread cover of the pro SD always comes loose after a few shots. So all in all - yeah it is a nice gun, but honetly to me it is not as perfect as many say so I would really recommand to try it before buying.

@@annacraft I also looked at the SFP9, you can also change the slide and barrel of the standard SFP9 to the longer version, same with the PDP. I think the PDP is the more modern version and you can fit any Glock sights. I heard better things about the PDP so i guess you will be more upset with the SFP9 trigger. But to be honest the PDP would be a fun gun for the range days in the red dot disciplin and the CZ75 more in the precision disziplin because its a heavy gun and i would probably buy it with 6 inch barrel, they also offer the interchangable barrels/slide for CZ75, to make a 6 inch out of the standard CZ75. The only negative things i hear about PDP is that people call it snappy but in my mind its not really relevant for precision shooting because you shot slow unlike in IPSC. The bulkiness is not important for me, im not a hunter, its only used at the range. The maritime coating is also not really important to me, i remember that the Mark23 had such a coating on the outside of the slide as well and the clear coat chipped off easily. Maybe it dont have maritime coating because i couldnt see anything regarding a coating on their website as you can see herecarl-walther.de/defense/produkte/p/2851725

Quick question for PDP owners. I have the compact 5 and noticed the muzzle flip/recoil. If I moved up to full size 5 or even a match or SD, would that help with recoil and muzzle flip? Given they might have different springs and more grip landscape? Trying to figure out how to lessen the muzzle flip through compensator, optic, and springco upgrades with my current 5 compact but not sure if I should just trade in and move up to a full size match or SD pro.

If the compact frame is too small for your hand the larger frame will helpw ith control. I'd recommend looking into either a DPM System spring or, if you don't mind extra weight, a brass backstrap.

I wonder what the weight difference is having the cuts but with the light plastic guide rod and how that feels swapping those. They made the cuts look decent but I'm not a fan of additional dirt ingress points especially when a location is sandy and some wind gets the dust everywhere choking up most pistols that were not covered between the stages. A triple test with the steel frame versions would be cool. Weird that they didn't make a 6'' target version.

Pretty sure the whole slide cut debate has been settled. As for the use of this pistol, it says "Match" for a reason...this is a gun they expect you to bring to IDPA or USPSA, and compete with it. As for the 6" target version...why? 5" is the limit of what we should be seeing out of a semi auto pistol. Not to mention that the PDP has a hard focus on the use of a dot.

Since it’s a match gun they should do 5 mags and charge appropriately so you don’t have to search for the other two mags after you buy the gun.

One of the common complaints I’ve heard from PDP competition shooters is that the guns are over sprung from the factory. Do you know or can you tell if they changed the recoil spring rate in the match?
@gbgunsmedia

I do not know, but haven't experienced any spring issues either. Additionally, there are great options out there like the DPM Systems if someone needs to tune spring weights.
