The Shield is so severely underrated- rarely sniffs at those 'top 10 series of all time' lists- but as a complete series I think it's one of the best: the long game story arc and pay off easily rivals if not is better than some of the bog boys- Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, maybe even The Wire. Goggins' Shane is pitch perfect and the way sympathies shift toward the end is beautiful. Great show.

Absolutely agree 100%. Just finished watching season 7. It is hard to say which is the best without watching them all side by side but anyone who loved The Sopranos and The Wire owes it to themselves to watch this enthralling show from start to end.

The Shield is my number 1 or 2 favorite Drama series of all time and I think a lot of younger people have skipped it because there have been so many cop shows over the years and it unfairly gets lumped into the mix.

@@TheChannel999999999 I never liked The Wire but I've watched The Shield and The Sopranos these past 6 months. I think The Sopranos is groundbreaking and opened the door but I give The Shield the edge for being more consistent and having a better final season.

Vendrell dropping that grenade into Lems car is a scene that will stay with me forever. One of the 1st times I can remember my jaw actually hitting the floor while watching television. I still cant believe it.

For me its the descent in the last season culminating in him killing his pregnant wife n son. You ask yourself watching it, damn, he did a lot of bad stuff but his family did not deserve that. It was a sad ending for a protagonist turned antagonist.

I only ever heard about it because of a guy I know who was a huge fan of the show. I think he mostly liked it because he considered it a positive portrayal of the police.

I had the opportunity to meet Walton Goggins in a restaurant here in Atlanta! I was so star struck I just kept calling him Shane! This was during season 4. Nice guy but he wouldn't give up any show secrets! Love The Shield!

Hell yeah man. He's so into discussing it. They had a The Shield reunion in 2018 with all the big actors in it and it was so fucking funny and heartwarming to see how their relationship really was. It was so fantastic

There's some people with those kind of features. Looking adult-like even when coming of age. The advantage is by the time they reach middle age, they look somehow young or at least well seasoned. Case in point, Walton Goggins.

I find it hilarious Goggins is almost always cast as racists, xenophobes, sociopaths, villains, and monsters, but the real man is involved in charities, loves photography, and is incredibly articulate. Says how amazing an actor he really is.

I guess we all have our favorites. To me, Breaking Bad will always rule, then The Sopranos. All of the others (The Wire, Mad Men, The Shield, Justified) are excellent, compelling shows, but don’t come near my top two.

No. He has stated in other interviews that he has worked to eliminate the accent to open up more roles. He is from Alabama.

@@Katt560He's said he was born in Alabama but was raised in Georgia. Even if he worked to erase the accent, if you pay close attention in his interviews you can perceive some traces of that lovely drawl here and there. And I'm sure when he speaks to his relatives down South it subconsciously becomes stronger.

I honestly think it's just as important a show as The Sopranos. Both shows were ground breaking and changed tv forever in terms of the boundaries like Walton was talking about.
