My fingers are dummy thick and I can’t play guitar well without the “tangy” sound. Any suggestions, anyone? (I figured posting here would be a good idea.)

i don't know how thick fingers could create "tangy" sound. if it's reeeally tangy there's a chance that it's not you but the guitar, you know. could be the fret buzz.

Just make sure you press down hard as close to the middle of the fret as possible. If you don’t play the note on the middle, the tangy sound is more likely to come out. Bigger fingers shouldn’t matter too much, and there are always guitars with different sizes

Haha yes, the servbot avatar! I think that one is from Legends which I never played. If you haven't played Misadventures of Tron Bonne you should (if you can find a working ISO - good luck ever finding a hardcopy, they go for $200+ on ebay). Also I enjoyed this cover. Your Takemine has a nice warm and crisp tone just like the original recording.
