4 жыл бұрынI could not BELIEVE when I found this Variegated String of Hearts for $10 at the Flea Market! It was as if the Plant Gods knew I was coming and led me right smack to where she was located within the first 5 minutes of walking in! AND I DIDN'T EVEN WANT IT! HAHA! WHAT?!
In this video, I share with you "tips" that I have done to make my variegated string of hearts happy and I put that in quotes because, well, SHE IS SO SO EASY!!! It's like, EVERYONE can make her happy! YES, EVERYONE! This has got to be one of my most favorite plants because well, she is o gorgeous and so so SO EASY, I feel so lucky to have it and I hope you get one too!!! (If you didn't already)!

Just a tip when you repot. Do NOT get rid of the soil and take it apart. These have shallow roots and it will be hard to repot. Transfer the whole thing to another pot and back fill it. Also, WELCOME BACK!!

So I just had a really bad case of mealy bugs on my VSOH and I'm wondering if I should repot it? I already used isoprop alc to kill all the bugs and saved most of the plant, but unsure if I should change the soil. This had happened (minor case) a couple months ago too and I treated it with alc, but looks like the bugs made their way back :((

Just an add on to the watering for these.. I find that the “taco test” is a good way of knowing when it’s time to water. Ill find one of the largest most mature leaves and pinch on either side and try and “fold” it like a taco.. if it is flimsy and folds, water.. if it still is stiff then don’t! :)

yesterday i got a biiig variegated string of hearts for only 3,99 euros! (4.67 US dollars, i believe) i couldnt believe that i found one, and i told my mom that i was taking it with me (we were actually only looking for new bedding for our chickens, but my mom needed a gift plant) plants here in europe are so cheap and quite easy to find at your local garden centre, i love it sooo much

also - when you DO repot, choose a pot with rounded edges, so as the strands grow, they don’t have to rest on the sharp edge of a pot! :)

I got my variegated string of hearts for 6.95. Granted it’s not trailing quite like yours yet but still thought it was a deal for what other places are selling them for. If you ever head up to the Bay Area, highly recommend Half Moon Bay Nursery. My favorite nursery. They have the most competitive prices in the Bay. :)

I just purchased one and had been playing around with finding the right spot for her and on one of those days I put her where she was getting some direct sunlight for a couple of hours and she pushed out growth from every direction possible! So I’ve been putting her in a direct spot place for a couple hours every day ever since and has been doing great!

Ohh i really want the repotting video! I bought one for like 30 USD and when it arrived it was one (really long) strand haha. Now i’ve been propagating it since the winter but i find its really slow compare to the non variegated one. My local go to nursery is now selling homegrown SOH Silver Glory and VSOH. VSOH is an ultimate wishlist plant and I am so excited it will be available locally and at a reasonable price. I looked on Etsy but my kids have grown used to eating and having a roof over their heads 🤣

Ok, first, I misread the title of this video - 'Want a string of hearts?' Uhhh YEAH..... lol. Then I see the plant and I do a 😲😲😲 That plant is gorgeous! I have a regular string of hearts and I love it but I covet the variegated one... who doesn't 😉😉🙂🙂 Mine, also, is directly in my SW facing window, he's just a little 3"-pot baby though, but has he ever grown a lot since I got him this summer! Hello Sharina! finding that variegated string of hearts was amazing, and the price was even more amazing! I'm thinking I need to visit California and find one then pack it up in my carry on and take it home, lol. I have been planning on visiting some family and friends in California this summer, so maybe I will get lucky and find one to take home with me. I have the regular string of hearts and it came to me as 5 non rooted single leaf cuttings, and there are three that are growing really well now, but it was 12.00 that my daughter spent to have these shipped to me, one of those rediculous plant prices. Yeah I keep mine in full sun all day, everyday. She loves it and is growing like you wouldn't believe! Disclaimer: Must be watered every 3-4 days and may not be recommended for all variegated string of hearts.

I remember when you bought that beautiful VSOH. When they told you ten dollars, I couldn't believe it. I have been chasing those on Etsy for a while. I have purchased 4 from different vendors and all have been disappointing considering what I paid. I still have hopes of finding a full grown plant such as yours.

I’ve got a rosary vine over 20 years old. Probably 30 years old. They used to be cheap. I just recently found some in 4” pots that were $17.99 each. Crazy. Only good thing is that the new ones are slightly different…leaves are darker and pointed on the bottom of the “heart” whereas my old one is lighter in color and more rounded. I’d love to find a variegated one. I find they are one of the easiest plants to care for, thrive on neglect. My old one spent years on a high shelf under a skylight under very bright light.

My god she's gorgeous!!! That baby is really enjoying life. I think that direct light is probably why it's all pinky. It needs more light than just a regular variegation to get the pink.
