If you can do basic arithmetic then you can do accounting. It's more about rules than about math, a bit like law. It's also considered more technical and practical knowledge than some of the other financial majors, so people like seeing it on a resume. I would say to go for it. I suck at math too but got a degree in accounting. Just make sure to study well and. you'll see if you have any interest or potential in the subject from your first accounting class.

I love to paint, and thought I'll share it online when I'm good enough, yet i saw artist on the same caliber as mine proudly show their artwork, and sell it at prices that got me choke on m coffee... and I asked myself, "What do they have that I don't? I can paint that! And I hit me, they believe in themselves enough to proudly share it. So I'm starting to be delulu, and sure enough, I had commissions requests, and I am loving it! Me going delulu: I’m going to be a successful writer and filmmaker. My goals to become that I am working towards has zero impact or anything to do with my current job. The toxicity in my workplace is bombarded by those with unchecked egos. I have coping skills to skate through each shift, however, my patience is running thin as of late. Am in a good place now, which has a potential to make my writing and filmmaking process full time. In the meantime, I will continue to project positive energy throughout my work day, knowing that my days to work on making my dreams come true are nearer.

My confidence mainly stems from: If I botch this [date, job interview, opportunity, position, etc] there are 1 million targets around me to aim for next. I frequently question my own competence & I view that as a good thing. It lets me reflect if Ive achieved success in a similar endeavor previously, remember what I did wrong last time, and evaluate what additional things I need to learn to succeed. Then I go for it. Knowing new opportunities are infinite, I readily give myself permission to fail. I don't want to fail, I will do my best not to fail, but if I do... oh well

I used to be delulu. Coming from a middle income family and a poor country, I used to believe I could travel the world. Not even being the best student, I got 2 scholarships (one at 16 and other at 18) and I was able to travel to Europe and Asia. Somewhat in some stage of my life i became the total opposite. I'm not negative but I'm "realistic". I believe that the risk of having that much self-confidence is that when you start to fail, you fall to the conclusion that everything you tought about yourself was wrong and you were wrong to dream above your expectations. That you must not dream too high because you fall harder. I know this is not a good mentality, but it's so hard to get out of there! Especially when your material situation tells you the opposite 😢

I agree with everything you said about having self belief and then working towards your goals with all the self confidence and vision of your better self. I have achieved great things with this and hope to continue to achieve more of my goals and dreams. Right now I am delulu that I will be a successful, well paid artist and content creator. Is this my current reality? No, but I can see it and feel it and believe it will happen. You can call me delusional but I don’t care. I believe the universe has my back and that I can achieve almost anything I want. It is a happier way to exist.

I have understood this concept for a long time, but my biggest question is...how can one achieve this and still keep their integrity, honesty, and morals? If you are dishonest with yourself, you will also be that way with others. Believing I'm yourself is one thing, but to get lost in delusion is another. It will bleed into your personal life, and not create true happiness. My ex was delusionally confident, and everyone would believe his lies because of how confidently he said them. He was great at sales, but avoidant in reality and our relationship. I left him because he couldn't be real with me anymore or himself, and ultimately got lost in the delusions he told himself.

Dreaming big, not judging the part of you that dreams big, while counting your blessings in the present. Hard combo to stay on track with, but it does improve outlook on life. Excellent video. I see it more as a radical form of self-love. You love yourself so much that you end up infecting yourself with that positivity, and because of that, you also infect others with the same form of positivity. This can explain why these people are pleasant to be around - even if we look at them as kind of "delulu". If anything, we all need this delusion in our lives. We need to believe in ourselves. Records are meant to be broken. Everyone says it's impossible until it's been made possible, then suddenly, everybody wants to achieve it. Break down the word impossible and it just means "I'm possible". So, when someone says it's impossible I'll just go "thank you, I know I'm possible" and smile.

I don't know about this...I've tried that earlier in my career but haven't been successful. When I started getting more realistic but playing smart, then I broke a glass ceiling. You need to know what you bring to the table and keep your standards high and dont settle. That is what works.I have seen people who were so delusional that they even said they had a job title that they didnt have. It reads as pathetic and weird. I think that being a realist and knowing your worth is what actually makes you successful. Not being delusional and thinking you have traits or skills that you dont have or are at a level that you are clearly not.

I think we're talking about the same thing - I qualify a few times in this video I'm not talking about being delusional in terms of disassociation from reality, but about being delulu. This venacular is really about being fully self aware and building confidence in a way that feels beyond yourself in your previous self-identity. For many of the people I've worked with, they have felt delulu when they admit all their accomplishments and acheivements, and especially when they talk about them. When we're upgrading our self identity there is a lag in our mental model to get there, so we need to embrace that it seems delulu until we embody it (and rightfully so!).

This is amazing, Jennifer. Nobel Peace Prize for you. Hit at the right time. There's this guy I really like, and for the first time in my nearly 36 years, I'm like "this is the one." I'm not the person to do that, but how many married people say, "when you know you know?" As an optimistic and independent young woman, I was not taught to believe in myself. I was taught that I couldn't do anything. In my head I said that I can't be a housewife. Yet today, I remembered how much I loved cooking as a little kid, how I watched 15 small children weekly in a house alone when I was 13, and very successfully. Sure, I still struggle with a few things, but I had so much potential to be that person. I get so nervous about this. I feel weird saying how I feel about this guy, especially after being rejected by maybe hundreds of guys for one reason or another. Talking to him recently, I accidentally said something very harsh. It really hurt him. I have the harshest tongue on the planet, and I'm not exaggerating. I realized that I have to stop that, or I'll never get what I want. And then your video pops up. In the spirit of delulu, it was meant to be. I'm trying my best to hold my head up and believe. It is a force that weighs on people, that to think of a positive outcome fills you with terror and makes you want to cry.

Being delusional about your own ability works better if you are already rich, or get lucky, and get hand picked by the already rich. In any other case, you'll just crash and burn. Believing in yourself is not the same thing. For example Rachel "thinking every man wants to marry her" is delusional, but Rachel thinking that a high percentage of men will seek her attention, is probably right on target. Of course, Rachel may have doubts because she "isn't conventionally attractive," or doesn't have a "bubbly personality," etc. However, if someone is smiling while talking to you, they're telling you with their body language that whatever you are doing is attractive to them (not necessarily romantically, but it is a door opener). You don't need to be detached from reality, you just need to see the half full side of the glass better.

I think my managers know that I’m to valuable to lose but they are not giving any compensation and keep saying “please don’t leave us” I haven’t even applied to other jobs yet but now I am contemplating. I am so comfortable in my current job and I really like the flexibility but in the long run I know this is not good and it will be harder to find a new job if I stay too long.

Oh my god! 🎉this is such a necessary topic! Thank you so much for creating this video! It has such an important message and i think it's not the delusional thinking but about humility and the fact that most of us are afraid to show off our achievements because don't wanna come across as bragging about our own success so we minimize ourself because that's the norm. We don't want people to feel envy for our success. I have been to a leadership training at a previous company where i used work and i remember the trainer said that success is dependent on 3 key points: your confidence level, self-expression (how you are able to show the world what you can do and what you have achieved) and professionalism (your knowledge and experiences). He said that without higher selfworth and confidence and without strong self-expression ( speaking, writing, online and offline) you will come across as incompetent most of the time even if you have the perfect knowledge and experiences. But still many companies expect people to be humble and stay small and we wonder why aren't we successful after a decade of woking our ass off at jobs and why did'nt they give us the raise we desired to get. It's because of humility and the image of incompetence. Whoever read this, wish you lots of success!

I can relate to this. It's super important to ensure you are compensated to the point of delusion. Multiple projects, multiple bosses...been there. I have handled it 2 ways- 1. Increase my compensation or I am leaving. 2. NO. I already have way too heavy of a workload to take on anything more right now.

My Trumper boss is losing it. He is moving out of the country this year to retire. Far away from Trump. Hes been telling me i should apply for his job. That I can do it. Then recently he told me that he and upper mgmt discussed how im not ready and how im a save the world liberal. Im in the center yet i dont even vote in the wash dc show of repulsively rich actors. They also supposedly made fun of 2 irrelevant past jobs of mine. Now he is playing like he is forgetful and back to pumping me up. Too late. I saw the real him. Glad i have not been breaking my back to get mgr position. Ive been thru this lie before so i know not to get too hopeful. Im just naturally a bit hyper and like to get work done. Im seen as a dummy just for being me but atleast i understand it now. No need for any boss to feel control over my wanting to work by creating the promotion delusion. I love these videos. They are the best on yt regarding employment

I hope the creator sees this. Listen being delusional is great and all but it only works on stupid or experienced people. I have found myself being UNDERCONFIDENT for the past five years. I spent time sucking ass in my career, being humble but NEVER giving up. Listen, once you get in a room with people who are truly and genuinely confident from YEARS of experience, they are going to see right through your bullshit, or worse, call you out on it. I find it very ironic that you are trying to emulate chads are techbros. You know they are delusionaly confident even if they did not put in the work to be there. So you wanna be like them? You wanna get to that spot that they are in so that other people can look up and you and be like “damn this person is just an overconfident jackass”? I’ve seen this happen to so many managers before where they get positions that they did not earn by being delusional and absolutely everyone knows that they should not be there, but no one says anything. Sure that’s good shorterm but long term? Don’t you truly want to be a master of your craft by ACCURATELY comparing yourself to your competition? I think too many people nowadays are too overconfident which is why social media is a thing. Idk you do you though. I’d rather take the long route and suck for a long time rather than be delusional and get caught up second guessing myself. I got to where I am today not by faking it till I made it or by being delusional, I got here because I’m undeniably nice at what I do. I want people to look up to me and understand that I am good at what I do. Again that’s just me.

Is there necessarily a contradiction between being self-aware and being delusional? Knowing that your knowledge that you'll succeed is a delusion, because you can only assume sucess, is self awareness.
