There's more to honoring the dead than having a constant parade of hearses through a town. There's traffic & downtown business interests to consider. Transporting the dead quietly (with dignity) should be the concern. Save the parades for returning live soldiers. No one is served when overly-maudlin sentiment is allowed to rule the day.

Here in Canada we honour the fallen, we hold a ceremony on the highway of hero's and police cars, and hearses line the highway and drive past the Canadians on overpass bridges who wave Canadian flags and solemnly remember the fallen solider
