"War for the Planet of the Apes," a 2017 cinematic odyssey into the realm of science fiction, marks the third chapter in the rebooted "Planet of the Apes" saga. Under the directorial vision of Matt Reeves, who also co-penned the script with Mark Bomback, this installment elevates the narrative to epic proportions.
The production prowess of Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver sets the stage for a showdown of evolutionary angst. Andy Serkis returns to mesmerize as Caesar, flanked by the talents of Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn, in a tale where the simmering tensions between humanity and its simian counterparts boil over into all-out war. Caesar, embarking on a quest fueled by vengeance, navigates the murky waters of moral ambiguity, challenging both species' claims to Earth's dominion.

It makes me wonder if Andy had any say in casting woody as carnage for the end credit scene of venom.. Like did Andy know he was directing the sequel at that point? Would make sense he wanted to work with him again

The colonel steals the movie for me. Not just Woody Harrelson's great acting but how they wrote the character. He doesn't hate the apes. He even acknowledges the simian flu is sciences fault for abusing the laws of nature. He's just trying to keep the last of humanity going no matter how horrible the choices are.

The humans in Rise were already in the Stone Age but had inherited technology from their ancestors! Failing to quarantine a scientist that’s coughing up blood, sending mounted officers to beat apes with nightsticks when they should’ve just shot them, fighting the apes on a bridge, where they have the advantage over humans, taking orders from an inexperienced CEO when you’re a police chief, starting a pointless war with apes when humanity is already on the brink of extinction, giving Army commands to insane Woody Harrelson’s and sacrificing their entire army to put down a single mutiny; it’s a miracle that these humans survived this long with their cacophony of terrible ideas and tactics!

Notice Nova lost her speech but she still retained higher brain function how else did she learn/understand sign. Nova's caretaker (dad?) was still able to talk and presumable he was around her when she was sick. So taking this information, it's why when the colonel ops to have ceasar kill him it's bc he realized he still had his higher brain function and he had killed his son in vain. He just couldn't verbally speak.

I think that maybe they were just the last two left from their group. Nova didnt react at all when she saw he was dead but she was very emotional when Luka died. The movie was so well written I doubt they would have written something that made so little sense. Thats just what i took from it.

@@BohoAstronaut you say that but also the whole battle scene looked like something out of GIJOE. It was pretty funny watching them send every last soldier in a big blob straight towards the killzone of a heavily defended helms deep style base. I dont think that man was meant to be Nova's father. I think the two of them were just the last ones left in their group. If he was her father she would have reacted much more (actually she barely reacted at all). She was very upset when Luka was killed so it makes no sense she would more emotional over that than she was over her father being shot by them right in front of her.
