So a few things to mess around with: 1. Lavos with his passive augment is the king of blast. With the infused 200% blast, you effectivly store 90% of the damage from the hit which inflicts the proc instead of 30%. Combine with the new elementalist mods and faction modifiers for STUPID aoe. (Especially spicy on sobek) 2. While gas was not directly changed mechanicly, it is now UNRESISTED instead of being one of the most resisted damage types in the game. (The same is actually true for a lot of elements now) 3. Magnetic now effects OVERGUARD aswell, meaning magnetic + Secondary Fortify on any status secondary can DELETE overguard from targets. Turning them into effective eximus killers to pair with aoe primary weapons. (Bonus point's to the Zylok with it's augment)

I didn't realize it affected overguard, no wonder I was melting Eximus units so fast. Never thought I'd see the day that magnetic damage is top-tier. Loving this update.

There is also electric explosion if magnetic damage depletes enemy shield or overguard, scaled of % max shield/og value depending on amount of mag stacks.

I put magnetic and secondary fortify on my lex prime incarnon and it can one shot jade light eximus units on steel path and it gives me about 2000 overguard per shot. The lex prime doesn't really need more damage so the loss of merciless isn't to bad compared to the extra layer of survival.

Sounds like the update is working exactly as advertised. They didn't want to toppel the old meta, just give you more options when modding and they did that pretty damn well imo

Who 360p gang? EDIT: I think the rework made it easier for players to have their setups ready for each faction, but I also feel like the old meta (like viral + slash/heat) was nerfed a bit, but it could be just me though.

Viral slash was weakened a bit Bit Viral Heat was actually buffed. You can pretty much slap Viral Heat + Bane and the new ST Damage mod and kill anything independent of Faction or lack thereof. I just went to level cap on Circuit with an Ignis Wraith modded for Pure Heat + Nourish. Even if we take Decrees into account, they were mostly extra status for G Aptitude, so easily a primer or a Sentinel can account for it.😅

Viral is as strong as ever, by a decent margin. Like no visual appeal or wow factor, but if you go blow for blow against the Blast hype it'll outperform significantly. And with the slight increase on enemy health only increased in value. Slash is... only slightly worse then it was due to some Health buffs. But I'd argue the "Slash nerf" was either when it stopped ignoring Shields, the Helminth system, or the focus rework. Slash status was mostly used on two basis. The procs bypassed armor, which has gone off a cliff since 2020 or so with armor strips becoming more and more universal. And its the main DoT that you can force procs, because Slash damage itself was pretty meh so rarely would people even use it to make the procs, because they'd be reduced. But Hunter Munitions, Melee stances, etc would all force procs on other types or even on non-status builds that could hit huge numbers. Its basically hanging on by that specific thread too.

Viral is definitely not nerfed, and in fact, is more sought over since enemy HP has universally increased across the board. Heat got even better since they significantly buffed the damage bonus from the partial armor strip. Slash might be softnerfed but it's still a great niche to have as a damage type when you have melee stances or heavy attack to forceproc these statuses.

@DawnAfternoon Just pointing out that it did kind of get nerfed, because before almost all red health was vulnerable to Viral, and now only the Corrupted I think? Are directly vulnerable to it. But it's a pretty inconsequential nerf, because the status effect is too strong, so as long as your build is procing the status, it's pretty much superior to all other elements for damage, even for raw builds. If your Raw damage build has enough status and time to proc 10 stacks, using just Viral will be stronger than Corrisive or Radiation for example, just on the account that 4.25x multiplicative damage is higher than the 1.5x that Corrosive and Rad have against their Faction counter parts, even on Viral resistant Factions, which have a multi of 0.5x on it, 0.5x4.25 is 2.25x, so a 0.75x increase in damage.

I think the thing I like about this is that there's only, like... three cases where a damage type is penalized-- Radiation on Corrupted, Heat on Kuva Grineer, and Corrosive on Sentients I think off the top of my head? So it feels more now like you're getting a bonus for going out of your way instead of a penalty for doing it wrong-- you lose a 50% damage boost to one of your damage types, instead of this multi-layered thing where not only does Magnetic suck as a status, it's also incredibly heavily penalized against everything, including half the things it's supposed to be good against. So like, personally, as much as I see people complaining that now modding per faction is more important, I actually think the game is much kinder now to you having a particular element Setup you don't want to switch off? Since, it's not like we ever cared about base IPS damage types, and it's not like Corroisve got MORE impactful, and now Gas and Magnetic and Blast and Cold and Electric and stuff don't have these ridiculous -75% penalties on all relevant enemies in the game. There's massively fewer wild swings in a build's quality between missions.

It’s a really healthy update IMO that just makes the game’s build crafting more streamlined. Having a base damage mod doesn’t hurt as much because armor isn’t as potent and damage weaknesses can be exploited to make it much easier. I hated building for only DOTs, it just made weapons feel the same besides visuals and fire modes. Now I’ve actually got options for having different damage types

Although I havent had much time to mess around with the new changes, I just wish they didnt swap the impact and puncture resistances for grineer and corpus. From what I noticed game/lore wise, grineer weapons mostly have impact so they can "counter" corpus shields for a 25% bonus, and corpus weapons had puncture for the 25% bonus to their armor. Now their less resistant to their own weapons, and neutral to the opposing faction. You would think that the 2 main opps in lore would have figured out ways to combat the other through their weapons/tech. Plus you cant mercy finish a corpus unit unless their shields are gone so "using" impact and its bonus to shields made sense.

Heat being resisted by Kuva Grineer isn't even relevant considering how much partial armor strip is buffed now. Did the math and partial strip from Heat comes to around 3.7x DPS multiplier, well beyond the 0.5x damage loss you'd suffer from Kuva Grineer's resistance.

Personally recommend gas and cold for future because enemies being frozen while stuck in a gas cloud is ideal since they are forced to take all the damage, gas and electric obviously also work. I love how DE made damage over time is now viable again.

That's similar to why I like Electric with Gas. The stun while in the Gas cloud is amazing. But there's a good reason I use the Torid (Incarnon) as my go-to on Frost! Frozen + Gas + Crits + Hunter Munitions (and then Biting Frost aug)...sure, it's not Saryn level war crimes, but it's very wrong in all the best ways.

@@lookalike4805 true but not as abundantly applicable. You cannot actually have a true damage over time setup with only one type of damage over time, true damage over time requires multiple sources. So now we have toxin, electricity, blast, gas, heat and slash with the blast updates it's now completely plausible to cover all elemental bases and still be heavy on damage over time, the new elementalist series mods helps this noticeable. We are no longer bound to viral and slash so much but can now overload enemies with multiple sources, melee, secondary and primary can now have separate damage over time orientations without loss to efficacy which is why prior we didn't have true capacity for damage over time as we currently do.

@@glitchvariable5336 1) We had Those Already. 2) Blast Is Not Damage Over Time. 3) Gas still sucks. The Reason DOT builds weren't abundent before is simply because People never Tried Them. Functionally Speaking the Game is the Same now as it was Before. 👀

Welcome back MC, hope you had a nice vacation! Was super interested in the status rework, and been enjoying it some. Think really enjoy magnetic, if read the wiki and patch notes correctly, doing more damage to overguard and nully bubbles! Made some of the builds personally run with a bunch a different statuses modded on the weapon do more! Super interested to see what you cook up! Thanks for the helpful video MC!

Welcome back, Mister KZfaq Man! As someone who does use Gas a fair bit (Gas/Electric!) I can say that it is a bit more visible. It looks like a proper fluffy cloud now. It's still pretty damn hard to see, though. I think they need to tweak it a bit more. I'm really enjoying the rework. Like you, I like messing around with different weapons and element combos, so it's nice to see things pay off more often (Blast is blasty!). Also, while it's not a weapon, I recommend checking out Ember. She's in a really good place now. Super fun to play. (Frost is too, but my Frost needs work, and since my Ember was more or less set to go I've been focused on her.)

I like magnetic for eximus units. I like the blast change. I'm still trying to work out a good universal combination. Like you, I hate swapping builds for different factions.

blast was the one thing i spent a tone of time testing already, man does that status do actual work now. did take a good chunk of time to realize that all of the blast proc dmg that isnt on kill or 10 procs dont have aoe. but i can see a tone of insane setups with melee influence. the one xoris setup i was doing quadradicly nukes so many enemys since it triggers so many blast procs with volitile rebound

I'm really vibing with running blast on my Latron's incarnon form. It's had blast damage on it for a long time since the build I use is focused on making my non-incarnon mode proc cold and puncture, which turns the heat on the incarnon form into blast, but now with cold being super buffed AND blast being made into a really solid choice for big area damage I've been absolutely wrecking house with normal and incarnon form.

The Sisters of Parvos in the operation ascension drop very interesting new mods. You're probably going to want to get all of the Semi Cannonade mods and redo some builds soon. It seems to make some non-meta weapons more viable (and I can only imagine what meta weapons like Kuva Zarr are playing like now). I'm disappointed by one thing. Ember's Healing Flame augment was buffed to generate overguard, but that effect *doesn't work as a subsume*. Only Ember benefits. I actually rebuilt my Zephyr to use Healing Flame, before this rugpull. :-/

@@Marin117. This update has added a secondary arcane that grants overguard to the wielder, and Dante's Light Verse applies overguard to everyone. It seems like the devs are okay with all frames having overguard. Healing Flame requires a mod slot, so there is some investment required. It seemed reasonable to me. *shrug*

Depending on your teammates you might not even get to steal the overguard before someone comes exploding every enemy in the area. It seems somewhat balanced to me. Anyways i understand your disappointment, it wouldve been fun to use that on some frames... at least you still get healed. xD

After some unscientific testing of various guns I have fund what feels best for a general "I dont have to touch the mods" setup. Strun P incarnon with Magnetic, heat, and shotgun elementalist instead of glav savvy. With 400% status it still force procs at least 4 stacks each , mag, heat, slash, impact puncture, and blast. Crit leatum with Corrosive and cold for hard targets like acolytes and sisters/ liches Glaive P with viral and Electricty and Melee infuence for the arcane.

Consider: Corrosive cold Gotva prime with primary frostbite. Boost its crit damage even higher, and armour strip.

Tbh, I really have not changed things from how they were before. Though after you do an in depth review I might. Really do like the damage number changes though, way easier to read now rather than the previous clouds of numbers.

Wolf’s sledge with blast is seriously silly for range. With the right build you can easily wipe out the floor with SP enemies throughout the SP chart up to some light endurance thanks to the new mods. Reckon you could do something more controlled with sampotes’s jump and heavy slam build.

Magnetic also does more damage to overguard, and procs electricity when overguard or shields break

Blast on phage is nice. De should do something about text bouncing/flickering when blast prock appear and disappear on 10 stack.

The "Unified Resistances" refer to the fact that before this update some Corpus machinery would use Ferrite armor which Grineer heavily used or that one infested enemy would give the infested enemies ferrite armor when it gave them armor. Since they now made the weaknesses based on faction and not health and armor type, these wont cut your dps down substentionally. Now every Corpus including all the corpus machinery has the same weaknesses for example. So, the Acolytes are still using their own weaknesses which is why you got the results you got with the Acolytes.

I actually flipped my lid day one when I went to simulacrum to test some builds and found out slash wasn't bypassing armor which happened to be a bug but I thought it was a literal thing they snuck into the game until they said that it was a bug lol

Personally running Blast, Corrosive, and Radiation along with the new change to hold the button for semi auto weapons has made semi auto weapons a lot more fun for me

As a newer player, I like the status rework and the resistance rework, the previous system required a too much in-depth knowledge of every enemy type and subtypes to be able to create a proper setup around everything

Not sure if you've experienced it, but I thought i'd mention since you were using the xoris, there seems to be an issue right now where glaive detonations don't do any damage, no status, no self stagger, nothing, apparently its caused by dual wielding a glaive and a secondary with an alt fire but I unequipped my secondary and still had the issue ymmv

Blast is particularly amazing on high rate or fire weapons that can get a decent amount of status. As stacking blast repeatedly can allow you to hit the max 10 stacks and cause the big booms. My fav option for this is the Kompressa as it just coats everything in nuclear bubbles

Use the cold arcane for primaries when you use the Corrosive n Cold combo....it'll buff your crit damage even more....and multi shot.....so more cold procs and more frozen enemies...for still more crit damage 😅

Yeah overall it's been pretty good. Although I will admit the sad part is that we got more than I hoped with blast statuses range. However it's a bit.... anti synergestic for what I hoped it would be for. You see I had some hopes that it'd give singletarget weapons some means of staying relevant and giving us range. However it seems the selection is a bit smaller and beams are the home for blast weapons. You *can* roll it on single target weapons like auto's but enemies will stagger about and knocking them away, so ideally you want a weapon capable of high damage to begin with. First thing I tried was kuva karak in hopes that I could give the poor thing some aoe but... it just didn't work super well..

Beams or possibly high damage single hit weapons, as if you kill something with a hit that procs gas, you also create an explosion. Might be nice on bows 😮

I MAY be overmodded, but the armor cap feels a little too low. I can take a Tenet Glaxion modded for Gas against Steel Path Grineer and it still annihilates them. That said, Blast with something like the Zhuge Prime is delicious.

I've been running Mag/Tox builds. It just chews through everything in the Operation mission. The toxin annihilates the regular units, the Mag helps with the over guard. And for grins and giggles, I've been running Arcane Ice on my Inaros. I am able to face tank SP JL Beams for like 10 seconds before it became an issue. JL beams are heat based so its pretty much negates them. Sure its a lame arcane but the SP operation is a joke I don't need to min/max to run it.

I also run ice, on zephyr. Only thing that threatens me is the beam, so heat resist, ice and then I only die if I forget turbulence.

To be honest, my time to kill has felt somewhat sluggish against both corpus and grineer since the rework. I don't really know WHY, since there's nothing inherently wrong with any of the changes

While there are definitely some damage types that got a huge glow up with Jade Shadows, there are two that got knocked down more than the other best types as a result, those being radiation and toxin. Radiation's only bonuses are now covered by electricity and cold which have better statuses, and toxin is now only effective against the least populace enemy type in the game (Narmer). They're still fine to use but viral and heat are arguably in a better spot than before now which is unfortunate since the whole rework was supposed to even the playing field a bit

Toxin is still a corpus killer if you want to bypass shields, although magnetic now is pretty good too for covering eximus at the same time. Radiation though.. is a bit meh damage wise. The status can be handy at higher levels though.

We need a mod/weapon now that prevents elemental combos but increases status damage and/or extra stacks per proc. So we can get all the basics going just for fun if nothing else.

Gas is incredibly strong now thanks to these changes, it's no longer resisted by anything, I've been getting massive gas procs off of Jades bow on enemies and it just leaves the most disgustingly strong cloud

I think they simplified the health types a bit too much for my tastes. It was an absolute mess before and it definitely needed to be cleaned up, but I feel like they went a bit too far in the other direction, particularly with Armor. I liked having a difference between different armor types, now Radiation doesn't have that "boss killer" identity that it used to. I would also prefer to have Corpus Health, Grineer Health, Infested Health, and Other Faction Health be different instead of all being "Health", but that's just me. I like complexity, I like having to think about what I'm doing and adjusting my loadout accordingly.

Blast is beyond broken right now. How this got past internal testing is hilarious. Mod an Arca Triton for blast and install Melee Influence arcane. Heavy slam. Things everywhere die. Literally. I was an hour into SP Kuva survival last night and enemies in the next room were falling over dead. Acolytes were deleted from the game they died so fast. I absolutely love it but DE generally don't like things like this. Who remembers OG Bramma, Marked for Death, Catchmoon. I remember. And this new blast status is waaaaay more powerful than any of that.

Yeah, really have to be careful on defenses. My first experience of the new BOB was standing on top of the objective as zephyr and losing in 5 seconds. 😢 They overbuffed the beams in a hot fix, then fixed it in another. They would one shot during that time if you didn't have shields.

@GarnetAnimations I think they just need to be aggro'd and in range to beam you. Since Zephyr is plenty strong, I went with adaptation, that heat resist mod I had never used and arcane ice for BOB, haven't had an issue since they fixed the one shot.

I'm kinda torn. This is going to make anti-faction builds a whole lot easier but at the same time I liked it where it was. Sure, Magnetic and Blast were almost useless previously but I did enjoy building a loadout that would cover all the weaknesses a faction would have.

@@lag00n54 I'm not gonna contest the new system being easier, it absolutely is and I kinda like it but I also kinda have an issue with it. I liked building a secondary to deal with rank and file enemies, building a primary to deal with the chonkier officer-type enemies and having a melee built to just go ham. Now you can't do that in the same way, all enemies in a faction have the same resistances and weaknesses so all weapons will end up with the same elemental build. In lower level missions, I won't even need both a secondary and a primary.

​@lag00n54 one weapon for the faction, ideally AoE of some kind then one single target high damage weapon with magnetic for eximus and/or for acolytes is indeed the answer. Feels pretty nice to be AoE'ing everything, then when a Thrax/Eximus/Acolyte shows up, pull out your pistol, go BOOM and then back to business. It has made the gammacor worth it again for me, and I'm now considering which Kuva/Tenet weapon I should go for, with innate magnetic.

@@arthanor9631 might I recommend the Tenet Diplos for Magnetic? I have a set myself, intended to get toxin but screwed up which frame I was using. They worked pretty well pre-Jade Shadows, but I've not played since the new update so I can't say how they perform currently.

Blast is a bit too strong, it just makes gas totally irrelevant. I would prefer a gas buff to a blast nerf, but i wouldn't be surprised either way. Cold changes are great, I enjoyed Frost before, now he just works that much better. I greatly appreciate the stealth nerf to slash, slash was honestly a boring way to play, i would rather just kill the enemies than wait for them to die most of the time.

You mentioned the big numbers: Your options are probably wrong after the patch. Go check to make sure your settings are for Enhanced damage numbers, not Cloud or anything else. Likewise, the new "hold to fire semi-auto weapons" mechanic isn't on by default. Also please actually read the status descriptions, you could have answered all your own questions instantly in-game.

I dont know why but slash feels weaker now. All of my hunmun build now deal less damage and especially glaive prime. But other than slash, everything works really really well because of the status changes.

Enemies have more health now, so that’s probably why. Also, weaknesses work differently now, so keep in mind that slash probably won’t be doing any bonus damage unless the faction you’re fighting is weak to it. I hear slash is bugged, but I’m not sure if that’s the case. That could be another thing that’s going on, though.

Enemies have less armor, but more health to compensate. Stated goal was to make (full) armor strip less mandatory. Side effect is that slash, which ignored armor, deals the same damage as before on larger health pools, so %wise feels weaker. Since everything devolved to viral-hunter munitions for some, it's not a bad thing if it's a bit less meta. Try some of the other newly buffed elements!

don't need to worry about stacks running out if they're already dead; and also, you can also just continually refresh it, and/or still benefit from the slow crowd control and CD boost, you just wouldn't necessarily benefit from MAX cold freezing and double CD boost
