I feel that it’s important to remember that Warframe is told in the perspective of the Tenno. Godlike war machines that have no equal. To the regular citizen or militia member, the Grineer are basically super soldiers.

"Grineer researcher Tyl Regor has made alarming strides in the field of gene repair. His work would not only reverse centuries of deterioration due to excessive cloning but also allow for stronger and deadlier genetic moulds. Eliminate Regor and put a stop to his work." - Lotus on Regor mission. He not only solved the decaying genetic problem but also enhanced grineer past their prime selves (the result may be the manic units). Tyl Regor work is kinda overlooked lorewise, the worm queen could develop the ultimate unit by creating a lich using a manic as base.

I always thought that the grineer weren’t as powerful empire due to their intelligence, short life span when I first started the game with the thought of the Corpus being the most powerful. As I dove into more in the lore, I quickly change my mind, from their origins to their now goal. The grineer are more scarier than the corpus than I thought because what the corpus wants is never ending profit.

Ya know what. Sometimes I wonder in the science-based missions, is if what we did was... "Good"... Like, some of them were just Grineer scientific outposts to try and research and fix the genetic decay they're suffering from, and we just hop in, slaughter a bunch of them, and run away with something important... Like, they could have been only a few months in-game into finding a cure, and we went in and destroyed it, or stole it. I honestly want to see if in a future update, if they'll add a side-faction of Grineer that aren't genetically deformed, and aren't hostile. Since they have far less genetic deformations, and likely have greater intelligence on the individual level, they'd understand "We can't fight these guys, they're basically walking tanks with space-magic".

Steel meridian consists of defected grineer who have a genetic defect meaning they can deny the queen's, so it's supposedly ingrained in them to not have free will (unless they have the defect). Then there's the defection missions where we assist grineer in leaving the faction

If I may add some of my own hypothesise to the "why did the Grineer rebel?" question, the adaptations to the worker Grineer to make them soldiers would have aided the worker classes productivity. With wartime demands on resources and material along with less supervision and less workers with clones being diverted into the military some of the adaptations would benefit the workers. The added intelligence, teamwork and flexibility would have allowed them to work more efficiently and allow more delegation to make up for lack of supervision. It may be possible that an Orokin in charge of clone production would have realised this and made the changes, without telling the others or even defying rules/regulation in order to meet the wartime demands.
@miguelcunhakowalski1099
@miguelcunhakowalski1099 10 ай бұрын
That was seen as an bad idea either because: A- The Orikin saw them as slaves that didn’t deserve bodies as special as theirs. or B- it would inevitably end in a revolution, as Grineers with higher intelligence and independent physical state would most likely eventually betray them. Even with their genetically implanted loyalty to their former masters.

They are in fact the best chemist in the system, which is why they can get explosives bether than any other faction in the system, and armor that can protect against basicly any element while still being light... Once the sentients defeat the tenno there next target will be the Grineer due to there massive kuva supply, kuva is capable of fixing the sentients "flaw" caused by void exposure. Without the flaw nothing will stop the sentients... well maybe Clem and his Grkatats XP

This is an amazing video, very concise! You cover so many aspects of the grineer and give good insights on details. A long video like this must not have been easy to make but I greatly appreciate that you did because the grineer are my favorite faction in warframe!

As someone who's played on and off again since 2013, it's really nice to have the lore lined up like this, as I've missed the addition of bits and pieces over the years. A boss fight for a frame I already have here, some early-game content I've already "cleared" there. Looking forward to digging into the back catalog and seeing what else has gained depth since beta!

"I am angry. Why is this happening ? Is that an Orokin ?" To me, this extract from the lancer synthesis implies the the seeds of rebellion were already present in the Grineer workers. When something threatening happens, the first thought of this worker is that the Orokin are behind this. This though is then immediately repressed of course - "No, we serve the Orokin". But nonetheless, it shows the Grineer workers did not trust their Oroking masters even though they were totally submitted to their will. I'd suspect this may even be by design. We know the Orokin loved to use fear as a tool of control, so engineering their caste of worker drones to be afraid of themselves would make sense in that context. "A fearful worker is an obedient worker". But as you said, when they turned the Grineer into canon fodder instead of slave workers, they needed to give them stronger sense of self preservation. And not just with respect to themselves, but their fellow brothers in arms as well. And eventually this would lead some Grineer to react to their innate fear of their masters in a new, much different way. The Orokin were powerful, that is true. But so were the Sentients and the Tenno. Yet after the war only the Grineer remained. "Could the cruel Orokin be dealt with the same way", some soldiers probably started thinking. " Now they are weak, now we are strong. Why submit in fear if we can make them go away ?".

The pride the Grineer hold is tied to how they were kept in line: by feeling immense pride in thier work and connection to thier fellow workers, helping eachother to work as efficiently yet cheaply as possible with as little oversight by the Orokin and thier servants as possible. As the empire began to crumble, from corruption, stagnation and the Old War as the culmination, mutations in the gene mix used led to some Grineer's genetic pride becoming a core, that in modern Warframe times gives them an extreme in-group preference, but if you can earn thier trust (Clem, Khal, Steel Meridian), they are fiercely loyal, considering you on the same level as thier gene-brothers and gene-sisters. They're really cool.

Here's an interesting thought... I've seen a lot of grineer. Even some in tubes. But I've never seen one get...born. Unless Ghouls count. Where are they trained? The majority of them (I assume) are currently born on Uranus. Then what? Go to earth? Live long enough and move to Mars or Mercury? Then the best of the best work on the Kuva Fortress?

I've realised something, depending on when it became part of the Orokin culture the twin stigma might be related to the Entrati's first expedition into the void. A twin would be reminiscent of an individual being born with their doppelganger. I haven't dove much into the lore so there's a good chance that theory can be swiftly debunked.

that makes sense. how the cloning will have little "kinks" or mess ups in the coding, that explains why some grineer try to save themselves during battle by trying to run or dodge. their screams also sound more humanlike.

this really is a sad story. i feel bad for them, they never had a childhood, they never had a mother or father to care for them the proper way. all the grineer know is slaughter. they HAVE to slaughter. they would be better not even being born because they just suffer neglect. they are basically just built to rot at this point. they are just doing what they have to to survive in warframes troubled universe. so really are the grineer really the bad guys in all of this? or..... are we? regarding tyl regor and grineer "development", i think it is a matter of variability the mutations they suffer make them more variable, and it is the variability that allows grineer like tyl regor to pop up in the same way that the mutations can cause constant tumours, and a pletora of conditions that make them look the way they do (rotting skin and missing limbs), and lose cognitive capability, they also open way for mutations that improve their minds instead

23:13 any civilization that survives oppression by another usually goes on to perpetrate oppression on others, often with the same tools or methods. The ships the Moors used to invade Al-Andalus inspired the design of those the Spanish used to sail to the New World, crewed by men hardened in the battles of the Reconquista.

I am hoping that should we traverse the Void that envelopes Duviri, a realm within the Drifter’s reality, that we could arrive in their respective Origin System, one where the Orokin still persist. A whole system full of prime weaponry and frames. A system where the Grineer of old are the standard of the present. Where an uprising that hadn’t occurred opens the door to new foes and allies.
