The game was definitely better than I expected. My favorite parts were the light bits of humor. I will never forget Fidelio.

This game looked amazing to any one that’s into CRPGS and Warhammer 40k. I was really hoping it would be good and it’s actually way better than I hoped it would be. If you love the lore of 40k it makes reading everything from tool tips to dialogue extremely fun in itself. This franchise is epic and worthy of a game like this. They did really good with it.

So how bad are the bugs? I really wanna play it as I am a huge 40k fan, but reading some reviews that talk about game breaking bugs or even bugs that go beyond the game and fuck with your pc settings is really turning me off.

@@hermaeusmora424 20 hours of play i had 1 bug where the ai was perpetually running in place and wouldnt end its turn, about 1-2mins later it fixed itself but yeah that was weird lol

A lot less than in previous titles, actually! It was much worse pre-release, but the patch on the first day fixed a ton.

Me, after downloading the game over the night thought saturday morning: yeah, lets play the tutorial, or prologue and maybe one or two hours to see if its good enough. Well, when i was finally able to shut the PC down, steam said it was a clear 16 hour session. I think that says enough. the last time i was that drawn to a game was when i was 12 and played Zelda ocarina of time for the first time. With a couple more bugfixes and localisation issues fixed (for example german translation really has many issues right now) this game will go down in history as one of the best of its class. Baldurs Gate 3 may have insane graphics and the more accessible setting. but Rogue Trader is something i thought had completely died out in the last decade: A work that not only respects its source, but fully embraces it and delivers a masterpiece for the fans.

I think the vast array of options when building a character is a strength. I mean I suppose its not beginner friendly as you say but I love it!

It's not. But if u can read and are willing to do a bit of thinking, it's ok. If u need things Diablo simple, go play diablo

If you are not into 40k, after playing this game you will be. The ending of act one sets the tone.

What I can’t believe is just how utterly rich the dialogue is with 40k. It’s like reading and playing through the best black library novels. I reckon though even with the glossary this will be a super issue for people unfamiliar. It’s like going into a high fantasy setting with no knowledge of elves and dwarves. 40k has its own rich world which is comparable. But for us who lap this stuff up, what a goddamned treat. I didn’t connect with any of the bg3 chars but these chars are so much better imo. They don’t have the cinematic narrative of bg3 but give me these guys anyway.

Absolutely. The choice to write the dialog out as prose was excellent, and I think the game is actually pretty approachable for those new to the franchise, even, between the glossary terms and the companions having tons of dialogue to help explain their factions.

Every Wh40k fan asked for a rpg like baldurs gate but in wh40k and we finally have something in our hands and hey it's from Owlcat. They will give us some expansions/more stuff. Space Marine 2 coming soon, Darktide being a fun little game. Shit is going down son.

I haven't gotten this but I hope to soon. I'm disappointed there isn't an Adeptus Mechanicus origin. The last time I played the Lord Captain in a Rogue Trader tabletop campaign I was playing a former Explorator fleet officer who was exiled from his home sector for political reasons. But the last expedition he had been part of was successful enough, and he was the ranking survivor of that mission, that his allies arranged for him to receive a Warrant of Trade allowing him to return to the region he had begun exploring while meeting with representatives of his Forge World in ports just outside his home sector to pass on any technology or knowledge he recovered. I love the Voidship selection though. I have a massive soft spot for Frigates so I'm very happy with the starting selection. I would love it if more got added later though. Like the Havoc class Frigates (an older design but used by Rogue Traders and Pirates), the various Imperial Heavy Frigates, the Shrike class Raiders, or the Space Marine Frigates.

It's amazing how many videos about this game I've seen and people allways describe Rogue Trader as "a mix of monarch, ship captain, merchant..." dude, this is a CORSAIR. You've just described a franking corsair. Rich people with a ship and a Warrant of Trade and freedom to navigate existed and were called CORSAIR.

it gets confusing because the term "Corsair" is actually applied to specific renegades (most notably the Red Corsairs)

I have just started my playthrough, as I have been busy with BG3 Honour mode... Rogue Trader is good so far, but there are some very clunky stuff in it. Not going to say anything about it yet, but some things are clunky in it. The movement or the very basic controls are clunky. Still its a W40K RPG that I have been waiting for. Interested in how it plays out. As for Emperor of CRPGs, let's see.

I'd give it an 8, so many quality of life features missing, they should have made them optional so you purists would be satisfied. And lack of an overwatch and counters in a 3D turn based tactical game makes it feel archaic, I get that its based on a card game, but when you move things to 3 dimensions, forgetting that there are fun features that don't harm the lore will only keep it in the niche category.

I think the Iconoclast works closer to how Ciaphas Cain or Commisar Gaunt act, if you sprinkle in some Dogmatic choices too.

Maybe they wanted it to feel like the table top? In the table top game the movement phase comes first and aside from charge for melee and some unique abilities here and there you can't move anymore.

It definitely takes getting used to, but I found it added to the tactical nature of the game once I got used to it, and made abilities that gave extra turns and movement after shooting a lot more useful.

So far hard to get into, the turned base combat is not great, nor is the skill tree. About 4 hours into the game there seems to be less voice acting than in WOTR. I shall keep on because I want to unlock the Space Wolf.

Personally I love both the turn based combat and the skill trees. I’ve no clue what you’re on about….each to their own ofc! But I’m well over 30 hours in and have yet to see the space marine. SO that being said, this probably isn’t the game for you.

Does anyone feel that the movement and running animations feels off in this game? I wanted to love it, but felt really B grade from what I played. Didn't feel as polished or as smooth as Pathfinder WoTR. So I refunded

I do feel like the animations aren't as slick as they could be, but I didn't think they were notably worse than WoTR, and reminded me of the older-school CRPGs that the game is clearly inspired by. That said, if you prefer slicker movement and a more modern overall feel, this probably isn't the game for you.
