Wizards and Warriors Channel fantasy animated documentary video series on the lore Warhammer 40k Universe and the Horus Heresy, started with the discussion of how the humanity fared in the 3rd millennium and beyond, how the Emperor started uniting the Humanity and the beginning of the Great Crusade, as Emperor and his sons - the Primarchs use the newly created space marines to bring the Humans together through conquest. They would fight the Xenos, including the Orks and this episode featured the battle of Ullanor against an Orkish Waaagh ( • Warhammer 40k - Start ... ). The Primarchs grew dissatisfied when the militaristic side of the Imperium began waning in importance, and more power was given to normal humans. Many secretly broke the rules made by the Emperor, unknowingly opening themselves to the machinations of the Chaos Gods. While all this was happening, the newly appointed Warmaster, Horus Lupercal, struggled to keep his brothers in check and prove that he was a capable leader - the seeds of chaos were sown.

Just wanted to point out that the first five tip comments include the phrase, "minor correction." We love you guys, but you gotta be extra careful with this lore...also since most of the lore is set down by dishonest and sometimes straight up false narrators...good luck.

@@alarsonious2071 cannot agree more with this. constructively intended criticism incoming: the narration and delivery in these videos is great but the information doesn't always come off as thoroughly researched, and I think more care could be paid to that. the script does read like more than just a skim of the 40k wiki/lexicanum which is good, but at times it runs the risk of veering toward a seemingly not terribly deep knowledge or appreciation of the lore given the kind of errors we're seeing. I have high hopes for this series, and would encourage you to maybe just fact check/proof read a little more diligently one thing I'd love to see more 40k lore channels get right more often are the pronunciations. particularly in the Horus Heresy series we're given canonical pronunciations for most important locations, objects and characters you might need to mention, and these can predominantly be found in the audiobooks, which I'd highly recommend on their own merits but especially if you're going to be producing content intended as entry level for newcomers. one glaring example would be that Garviel Loken is not pronounced "gav-ree-el lock-ken", but rather "gar-vee-el low-ken", which is actually lore relevant, since this is why Tarik Torgaddon affectionately refers to him as "Garvi", pronounced "gar-vee"

Slight correction: Monarchia was not on Colchis, the animation showed an explosion there. Monarchia was the capital city of Khur. He ended up going to Colchis after that. Where he had the conversation with magnus.

The creator of the channel is brute forcing through 40k. I doubt he knows everything about the lore compared to other examples (it is hefty). Look at the previous channel video views and you'll see that his 40k content (on average) has the highest views compared to others. He's making 40k vids because they get views, but doesn't know the savant-level amount of lore, so he's missing things. Again, I doubt it would be his first fictional universe of choice and is gravitating towards it out of necessity.

@@the36lessons11 "Creators", we are channel cuz we are many. :) And yes this is not a 40k fan channel only. It is a visualy documental lore channel totaly good for new comers to such series. It is more directed towards not a single lore fan but to seekers, testers, voyagers of fantasy and scifi. Just like its parent channel Kings and Generals where not only ancient or modern eras but all eras are documented through history, not a single culture or civilization but many. Only thing that is persistent in both channels is wars and descriptions of historic events real or fantasy.

A minor correction. The webway existed long before humanity had evolved. It was originally designed and operated by the Old Ones, then used primarily by the Eldar. The Emperor wanted to give humanity access to it and strengthen the weakened portions of the webway. The Mechanicum, at least the highest level, the fabricator general, was essential to this and used ancient tech to create strongholds in the webway prior to the outbreak of the Heresy.

Couple of notes here: 1) The reason why humans make up the majority of Chaos forces in 40k is simply because the GC exterminated most of the Chaos worshiping aliens from the face of the Galaxy. 2) Considering that Lorgar wrote in to his book the Lectio Divinitatus the phrase "Only the truly divine deny their own divinity." Yeah Lorgar knowingly acted against his father's orders on worship. Also Monarchia was evacuated before its destruction.

Well the problem is that the GC also destroyed the one alliance, the Interex, that knew about Chaos and how to recognize the signs of corruption. It was quite telling that the Interex were weary of the Imperium being possibly Chaos corrupted due to its warlike and xenophobic attitude. The evacuation of Monarchia was a mess. The Ultramarines just waltz in demanded everybody to leave in a week. Then acted extremly hostile when people asked why and what was happening. So with no reasons given people protested of course and the Ultramarines just started gunning them down. Before anybody judges Guilliman over this, this seems to have come directly from the Emperor. Guilliman himself felt the whole thing had been a mess and feared, rightly, that the Emperor had made a grave error in the way everything went.

@@visitingforgefather5997 You have point, but remember the interex despite their higher awarenes to chaos did not see Erebus' true aliegances. Again monarchia was not compliant. They were religious and resisted the Imperial authorities. Also the only things the Emperor did wrong in monarchia was that he did not kill Erebus and Kor-Phaeron.

Primarch are often described as seemingly having this aura that just inevitably draws peoples attention, yes even Astartes, to them. Could be that this aura made them focus too much on him. Since he was in a high leadership position he also reflected the Imperium itself in some ways. ...Boy where they lucky Curz, Angron or Ferrus were not their first contact...not that they were very luck in the end...

Wizards and Warriors, it is REALLY difficult to be completely correct with an IP such as WH40K. Dont be discouraged. This was still an amazing video. Keep in mind 40k fans tend to be a little sensitive about factual errors.

I don't like it Because the lore is hitting an escalation. Where do they have left to go from here? Anything happening in lore that's less impactful than a Primarch returning is going to feel a let down after The Lion and Guilliman It's an escalation that you can't go back from, and there's going to quickly be no more primarchs to bring back. Then all that's left is the End Times

The quality of the art and UI is stunning as always, more than up to the high standards that W&W and K&G have set for a long while now, and the narration is once again spot-on, but there are unfortunately a fair few mistakes and misunderstandings here. Aside from small technical details (i.e the location of Monarchia) and pseudo-historical points (the Emperor was co-opting and repairing the webway, not inventing it), the video seems to lack a cohesive understanding of this setting and it's themes. It seems more like we're going from point to point chronologically with just passing explanations of why, instead of a clear explanation of the wider issues and the many moving factors that caused those events to happen, like we got with the Witcher, LOTR and Conan videos. The series is certainly enjoyable, but I think it still has a lot more potential it could fulfill.

Karma be upon you. :) Thanks for your nice words on the art/graphics/animation which I am responsible for. and sorry for the mistakes, some are mere typos that happen because of the complexity of the workflow and time constraints and some are mistakes due to the complexity of the lore. On all you are right and hopefully we will fix most if not all on the final (single/long) video at the end of the whole series.

Since I am reading Horus Rising and seeing the close bonds within the Luna Wolves, however also knowing what is going to happen between Abbadon, Loken, Aximand and Torgaddon. Also the unlikely friendship between Barabas Dantioch and Alexis Polux, ironic them being from the Iron Warriors and Imperial Fists respectively. Legions whose Primarchs did not get along.

I have started reading "Horus Rising" the first of the Heresy novels. It should be noted that some Astartes were killed in the first battle against the False Imperium. Interestingly, the False Emperor was used as a throw off narrative, when Garviel Loken recounted "I was there when Horus kill the Emperor." In addition the death of False Emperor served as foreshadowing, as he died on his throne leaving only burnt skeleton after a single blast from Horus.

Great video but one gripe i have is that you guys call the army of the imperium the Imperial Guard. At the time it was called the Imperial Army, which was vastly different (utilized combined arms tactics for example). Pls correct it cuz it would make the vid almost perfect!

For claiming to have a great knowledge of humanity, the Emperor was the greatest fool imaginable! If he paid attention to human history, he would have known the regimes that committed the worst atrocities were done by the very regimes he wanted to create. Furthermore, I would argue his actions did not help with weakening Chaos, I would argue all that death, murder of countless innocents strengthened Chaos! Despite that. Good video.

This is a massive undertaking you have taken on gentlemen with many contradictions due to the many writers and editors who didn't always pay close attention to what had come before. Your going to get a many complaints, corrections and "Actually" because even GW has contradicted itself on the history over the years. Dan Abnett's books are usually the ones everyone looks to as being THE LORE of 40K but he doesn't always agree with the Codex's (which have evolved so much since W40K Rogue Trader first landed in front of me). Still the story and the rise, fall and struggle of the Empire of Man is a better read than Warhammer Fantasy End Times so looking forward to it. May the Emperor protect you.

ahh lorgar, and effin erebus, it all starts wid erebus. But tbf tho, it was also a very douchey asshole move wat Emps did to lorgar's city. And to add insult to injury, Emps forced lorgar and his whole legion to kneel b4 him, as in literally forced, using emps psychic might. While the legion was forced to watch as their capital was burned to da ground. Even Guilliman who was der was rlly iffed abt dat.

The Council of Nicea has always bothered me in the continuity sense of 40k. Here we have some demi-god constructs of super human intelligence forced by a decree to proclaim that their LIbrarius, The Thousand Sons, the entire life experience of Mortarian, the constant gaze of the Eye on Perturabo, the Navigators, the Astropathic Choir, Malcador, The Emperor, and anything and everything else they have witness to, from the explanation of their kidnapping from Terra...isn't anything at, just an insignificant whit, having no import to the reality of...well....reality...and they should just ignore it, stop using it, pretend it isn't there, be killed by it and just accept that this is a not potential threat to all you've endeavoured towards. C'mon...a 5 year old would question WTF if you told him to ignore the spitting cobra in the corner of his play area...

I know I'm late to the comment section, but I look forward to W&W continuing the Horus Heresy, as I have started reading the first novel Horus Rising. Also again I recommend using anime/manga stories as sources for more lore videos into more fantasy and science-fiction worlds.
