Spent the last couple of years looking at medium format and finally committed to the M645, couldn't be happier with my choice. Great video, subscribed!

Looks like a pretty sweet system. I don’t shoot a lot of multiple exposures, but I really like having that option available.

I have a M645 1000S with both the waist level and metered prism finder. I have the 55mm, 80mm f2.8, 150mm, 210mm and the 300mm. They are all C lenses but no issues so far other than the 150mm wont return to wide open after the exposure. I just turn the aperture ring back to wide open and other than that the lens works just fine. I've always had good results with the system and all Mamiya cameras for that matter. I also have the RB67 and have had a C330. I've found all the Mamiya lenses to be very sharp with nice contrast and color rendition. I also use the M645 lenses on my Fujifilm GFX 50SII with an adapter. Using focus peaking to help focus and the results have been just great on the GFX.

I do want to eventually upgrade to the 1000s! And yeah the lenses are excellent! Thanks for watching 🍻

I've got to point something out chap. The weird circle/dot on the speed dial isn't for syncing with flashes, its only used when using the AE prism, because then the speed dial on the prism controls the shutter speed electronically, rather than selecting it on the body. Flash sync is 1/60th, marked as 60x in red on the dial. Other than that, loved the video. Happen to have my M645 right on my desk, where it normally stays. Its by a long way my go to for 120 film.

Hello Alex, I just found your channel when looking up m645 review videos. Thank you for this fantastic video! I reverently purchased a Mamiya m645 with waist-level finder, 3 Mamiya Sekor C lenses (45mm f/2.8, 80mm f/2.8, & 150mm f/4), two 120 film cassettes, one 240 film cassette, two cassette cases, left hand grip/trigger, two Mamiya hoods, filters, two ground glass focusing screens (a grid pattern screen & a matte/Fresnel screen), & a few other bits. ...all this for $450CAD! 😮😮😮 ...but I need to: - replace all the light seals in the camera body (they are dried out & falling apart) - take apart & clean the haze/fungus in all three lenses Still a great deal, especially since I can do all the repairs. The only thing I'd really like to add is a prism finder (non-metered) & maybe a split-focus screen. Both on are on order. 🙂 Watching your video makes me realize that I need to finish fixing my m645 & get shooting. Liked & subscribed, Chris

I have two 1000s' and love working them. One for kodak e100 and the other for various b&w films. I also use the winder grip off a 645e that fits perfectly with the pd metered prism. I also have the wast level finder and a whole gambit of lenses. My favorite lens is the 75-150mm zoom. Only problem is weight. I'm thinking of getting the 645 super and multiple backs. I guess I'll just need to test one first.

6/4/23 Like you I upgraded my Konica Auto reflex T 135mm to the same model Mamiya 645, but with the matter option so I could have the same look and feel of a 135mm camera, but with larger negatives and 15-30 exposers per film roll. The camera with the left-hand grip can make the 645 bulky and heavy, but as you noted it adds to the ease of use with the metered finder. Are you sure that your meter finder is not working? The shutter speed on the camera body needs to be set to the red dot and then the shutter speed on the hood should work to control the light meter by pushing the white button near the ASA film setting to turn it on the shutter speed and f stop combination. for extras, I have 2 -645 camera bodies, the 2x converter, 2 - 80mm f2.8 lenses, 210mm f4 lens, lenses hoods, waist level finder spare film 120/220 inserts. to double-check my exposure I may use a handheld Minolta light meter with an incident dome. The thing I like about the Mamiya 645 it slows you down to learn composition and helps you develop your own style of seeing, because of the cost involved when shooting and developing film for prints. You may want to add ar rubber lenses hood to prevent light flare, plus some black and white filters for your lenses for yellow, green, and red which will greatly alter the tones of the image.

I’m 100% sure the metered finder does not work, I’ve set the shutter dial to the correct position, but there issue is mechanical and the coupling claw does not engage the lens pin no matter how I try. Even took it to my local shop, the owner is a diehard Mamyia shooter. It’s dead! Thanks for the tip on the lens hoods will start looking for them! I love adding filters and have a yellow, green and red for most of my M-S glass! Thanks for watching 🍻

The Mamiya 645 Pro was my introduction to medium format photography. Really enjoyed your video. I've also worked with the 1000s and the AF versions - wish I still had my AF Mamiya. Currently working with the Pro TL and it is good enough for my needs especially with the lenses I have for it. The 55 mm is probably the most used focal length and the 24mm most creative..

It looks to be a good compromise between a nice solid build but smaller body for carrying around with the advantage of those bigger negatives. A nice medium format kit!

I will tell you from many years of shooting my 1000s, that LH trigger is going to implode and ruin your day. There are much better grips out there on an L bracket. And also, the 55, 70LS, and 150 are my go to kit. Have fun.

What type of flashers work for the 645?
@AlexLuyckxPhoto
@AlexLuyckxPhoto Жыл бұрын
The main body has standard PC sockets, two of them one FP one X which means both electronic flash (including studio strobes) and flash bulbs work. The sync speed is 1/60”. Hope this answers your question and thanks for watching 🍻
