Nice tutorial Stuart If anyone interested Fernando Daniel Pedrazzoli, Regimientos de América has a kickstarter for ACW siege cannons, mortars, and coastal batteries. The STL files will be available in 13.5mm, 15mm, 20mm, 28mm etc. I've backed the 10 euro pledge for 20mm and added a Parrot cannon, and ammo carriage. About $40nzd. If successful the files from the kickstarter will be available around December

Very nice indeed and almost makes me want to breakout some of my unpainted ACW Epics and complete them. I think the mortar base might look more interesting with the old style basing as it has a more 3 D effect than this iteration although I can see this method is quicker to complete. Both of these models will definitely help breakup the “monotony” of a million 10 man strips on a table top. You did do a custom blue mix for Federal uniforms which I remember trying to recreate ages ago. Given BrokenToad has gone belly up (sadly) any new brush source to share? Thanks for doing this….great fun to see especially after all the fantasy videos you have done!!

Before Broken Toad I used almost exclusively Rosemary & Co series 33 (short handle), and I’m back to using them now. Great brushes, probably just as good as BT, I just preferred the feel of the BT handle. Rosemary & Co make Artist Opus, from what I can gather series 33 are the same but with different handles.

They look fantastic, I have the first starter set, the Gettysburg starter set, and a box of cavalry for both the Union and Confederates. So many little men to paint. I think I will be using some of the colors you used, but will probably not go to the level of detail you did. Still great job.

Thank you. When I received them I’m not sure they were named, but the one with the darkest brown tint out of these three. If you’re going for a proper 100 days theme, you may want to add some mud effect after.

Hey Stu, I've got the Geek Gaming base ready stuff but I have used your method of basing for the Napoleonics. Can I just just put the PVA glue over the top of the pigment/dust or do I need to wash it off?

I would, I can’t see any issue there, assuming there’s no so much on there that it’s just falling off every time you pick it up. If you think there’s a lot of loose pigment on there just blow/brush off the excess first.

I use mostly Rosemary & Co series 33, and then mostly size 2 & 1. If looked after they hold a point very well, and with a good point I will use the largest brush I can fit the job. The point being able to give precision, but the larger body can hold more paint, preventing the paint drying on the top before it gets to the model.

union figures are terrible no kepi hats and they did not wear wrap around blankets ugh

Hopefully one day they will do a second regular infantry frame.

That’s not entirely true, Airman. Both Union and Confederate infantry had blanket rolls around them to keep their accoutrements with them on campaign. So it’s not at all inaccurate for the Union soldiers to have them either. As for the kepis, they weren’t just the only hats that were worn throughout the war on both sides either.

as always, a professional in his field.. beautiful... it turned out lively!! but there is a small but: did officers in the army wear blue hats? the felt was always black. Sorry sir. P.s. regarding the mortar: warlord games, I should have made both an infectious one and one ready to fire. it turns out: the mortar bases are all charging together... somehow... boring....

Thank you 🙂 You might be right on the slouch hats, I think I’ve painted them a mix of dark blue and black before. For the caps they’re supposed be blue I think. I hadn’t considered a different pose, you’re right that would have been nice. I guess it was a cost thing, a cheap and limited release.

@@MiniatureRealms It seems to me that warlord games is a bit .. sometimes freeloading... especially in the epic battle acw project. they could make a sprue for the union infantry so that they look like a union and not like volunteer units:) so that they have caps and backpacks on their backs.. but they are not there(( and this is a big minus... I'm looking forward to your videos, especially painting figures :)) I really like the way you paint epic battle ecw, beauty :) I would really like to see the painting of the Skirmish units of ECW :)) with respect from Ukraine.
