As an American, I am glad to have grown up as a teenager in the 90’s, listening to British Rock music such as Oasis, The Verve, and Ride. To this day, nothing sounds and feels as special as the 90’s. The last great golden age of music, but especially rock & roll. John Lennon was right: ‘There is nothing conceptually better than rock ‘n’ roll.’
@vonBottorff29 күн бұрын
I'm a Boomer (1956) and I must graciously disagree about "rock 'n' roll." My gen was into R&R because it was a statement of defiance against supposedly bad stuff, or just uptightness in general. This shoegaze is so calm, mellow Zen though. That's what attracts me. My gen did all this suburbia rebellion ... that went pretty much nowhere and was too often just rebel chic BS. These guys (and other shoegaze) are doing introspection. They don't have sticks in the hands trying to poke somebody in the eye like most of my gen's bands did. So yeah, I'm taking a permanent break from "fake shake-up" and Momma's little malcontent theater. Nobody in Ride is sneering at me in their videos. Nice that.

First you look so strong Then you fade away The sun will blind my eyes I love you anyway First you form a smile I watch you for a while You are a vapour trail In a deep blue sky Tremble with a sigh Glitter in your eye You seem to come and go I never seem to know And all my time Is yours as much as mine We never have enough Time to show our love

This reminds me of Sunshine Smile by Adorable It's of it's time and still stands to this day as the band's best song Untouchable

Headphones, volume up, a dark room. Rinse and repeat. For hours. Get lost in the outro.

The music and vocal really give the vibe of nostalgic nuances. It feels like getting back to younger years.. ;-)

This is simply a beautiful song by a tragically underrated band.
