Yep, thats the ticking noise, mine was a bit louder. In Australia jeep dealer had to replace all 4 cams, all the rockers etc = $5120 - i had an intergrity after market warrenty and they paid it will no hesitation. Now its sounds lovely and very quiet. When i first heard it i googled like crazy if it was normal..... NO its not 😅 Now i listen to it there is no slight ticking and purrs. Its not injectors 😂 i cant hear any ticking from injectors or anything.... should be no slight, even a tiny sound of a tick. Jeep GC 2015 3.6

Another definite possibility is the oil pump making that noise I had a faulty oil pump failing to make proper oil psi and if you kneeled down near the passenger side of the engine the ticking was down low

when you reach the lifters wiggle them the ones that tick will make same noise and there is the issue.

@@healthyking9999well I will say it took me bout 4 hours and one lifter needed replacing and was only 12$ got it same day and finished same day. And btw I never worked on a engine in my life until I had that issue. So yeah pretty easy fix. And cheap.

I have a 3.6L charger I’ve changed my oil filter housing with new sensors, oil, changed camshaft and crankshaft sensors and my car is still giving me P06DD going into limp mode saying low oil pressure and won’t shift gears while I drive….should I do my oil pump next???

Use moly liqui since day 1, do oil changes w/synthetic every 3.5-4k miles, do not floor it all the time (especially when cold) and...maybe the ticking noise will not ever be.

had a 2016 300s that got into an accident and was totalled a couple weeks ago. Car had 9k miles when I got it in 2019 and had 272k when it left. Only issue I had was the oil filter housing leak and fuel pump. I did my oil changes every 10k and drove it pretty hard (when warm) did my transmission fluid every 100k. Never really used any additives either except at 250k I ran some motormedic engine flush from walmart. Car wouldve easily done another 100k. These issues mainly happen with pre 2016 models because I believe they upgraded them after that year

@@rickbaier1042 5w30 seems a lil too thick. Especially in colder climates. It’s not a turbo so it doesn’t need a higher weight oil. Just go by the manufacturers recommendation and change it like normal

Even the 06 dodge charger with the 2.7L V6 is trash self destructing engine lol 😂 it destructs it self overtime starting with the rod bearings mine has a bad rod knock and I went to drain the oil and now the transmission don't even u know drive lol or reverse it just revs up with a very loud whining noise but I hear that if u have a low battery the transmission won't switch into gear I mean my battery light and lightning ⚡ bolt light on people saying I just got to charge ur battery and turn the car off try again and it should work but idk I' haven't tried yet hope the transmission isn't bad or that's another $1000 I got to replace a long with it's $1800 peice of shit engine lol 😅 I'm 20 and regretting getting this thing for cheap I think I'ma switch the title over and trade for a honda civic traded as is

Ticking is usually the rocker arms.. if not fixed right away the bad rocker arm will damage the camshaft.. I replaced all rocker arms and lifters and one damaged camshaft on my 3.6L challenger

I mean there's a very slim chance it's an exhaust leak in the manifold, or lifter tick, or like the other guys said rocker arms are going, either way it'll be expensive it'll just be less expensive if you fix it sooner unless you're comfortable rooting around inside your engine DIY style

@@OnlineMechanicTips I'm hearing a tick sometimes and it goes away when I restart the vehicle. It does not increase with RPM. Same engine, could this be another item causing it like a purge valve? It's hard to tell between direct injection tick, lifter tick, and EVAP stuff.

We have a fleet of grand caravan 3.6 with 300-500k on them and when the plastic oil cooler goes in the first 150k, we always upgrade to the aluminum and it lasts the life of the engine.

@@randyu8688 The oil filter housing is made of plastic. if Over torqued. it will crack..and over time heat will crack it also. the oil cooler is on the bottom so it will leak oil and coolant sometimes also. 400$ part

Theres nothing that exist that will quiet a broken valve train part. Thats the case with these broken roket arms, If this was noisey hydraulic lfters, sure, additives would help.

@@OnlineMechanicTips If you have a broken rocker arm, or a warn roller rocker, then you waited to long, but if you run a zinc additive before it becomes an issue.. no issue will be had.. personally i change my oil every 3-5k miles and add a zinc additive, but the top end in these things are loud from the factory, the zinc helps quiet them down.. it's just a normal sound in a forged internal motor.. the expansion of metal as you warm up causes some chatter..

Either get the lifters and rockers replaced (if that’s the problem), or go the cheap route and put a quart of Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer in the engine and HOPE that stops the noise.

Disposable engine! I’m working on a T&C with 80k and it is full of metal dust from the right side cam lobe being ground off! Total junk!! The lobe is completely round and the cam sensor magnets are covered with magic dust! Chrysler has went to shit!

Dodge is TRASH! I have a 12 Charger and blew a head gasket somehow. Car never been ran hard only 90k oil change every 3-5k well kept.

Don’t mean to be a negative Nancy but these pentastar’s are complete junk. Bought my 2019 Chrysler 300s in 2020 and it ran fine and gave me no issues for a couple years. Now at 70k miles and have had to put about three thousand dollars in it just in the last few months getting the oil cooler, oil pump solenoid, spark plugs, fuel injectors, and thermostat replaced. They build these engines out of plastic.

No they all do that . The 3.6 is known for that even under light loads expect it to happen around that range if you drive it normal . Definitely won't make it to 100k

@@OnlineMechanicTips Sure, I was a mechanic for a large commercial fleet for yrs, we had mainly ford's & Chevys but only had a couple of dodges. They were ok never had any major engine problems with them. I'm sure other makers have issues as well but most don't have a format like yours that shed light on your makers common problems. Your videos are informative.
