Sky News commentator Des Houghton says there are new warnings over “frightening new drugs” like xylazine which are causing a “zombie” drug epidemic.
“Nitazenes are so powerful according to the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission that little fragments as big as a grain of sugar is enough to kill you,” Mr Houghton told Sky News Australia.
“The xylazine is a sad drug, it is made from horse tranquilliser - a veterinary product used for large injured animals, and it too is mixed in with other drugs.”

By default, if it is taxed it is not legalised. If it's legal you can do it without interference.from anyone. I disagree with taxation. What I'd do is legalise all the drugs and so people would only take the highly safe drugs and steer clear of the unsafe drugs. Why would you take a unknown drug laced with god knows what, instead of a high quality reputable drug. Also, if they're legal, people will just be bored of them there's no excitement in doing something "illegal" and no stigma or lawful impediment to getting help with addiction to drugs.... It won't increase drug used because what normal happy healthy person will just randomly think... "Today Im going to take drugs" doesn't happen. Its only unfortunately sad people with difficult lives who take drugs. As a society we can do much more to help these people by making a society where cost of living is cheaper and life is generally easier rather than harder, and fun can be had legally and cheaply with the ability to affordability take holidays, and do fun recreational activities so life isn't such a drag. @@Opinionsrnotfacts574

I’ve done small bump size lines of Nitro and it is wayyy too strong for the kids these days. I agree the stuff is STRONG, makes heroin look like a candy bar… But Fentanyl is stronger in my opinion… That’s the real killer. 😢 They need to talk about the REAL problems. Drugs like Flualprazolam, Etizolam, Pyrazolam, Flubromazapam, Bromazolam, Clonazolam and those are just the Benzodiazepines. 1P-LSD, AL-LAD, 4-ACO-DMT, O-PCE, 3-HO-PCP, 4F-MPH, NEP, 2F-DCK, O-DMST, etc… I can go on forever. There are SOOOO many drugs coming out these days… Nitro and xylazine is REALLY bad but we got ALOT more to worry about then just those two. :/

Make one thing illegal & addicts will look for an alternative. The problem is the alternative untested analogues are killing people and there's no ability for rehabilitation. There's an easy way to nip this in the bud. Legalize all plants for home cultivation, but keep refining of problem plants illegal.
