In this Episode, I take the see-through engine, Adapt the EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) system made by Amp-EFI. I see if it can make boost first on Regular pump gas. Then see how much horsepower this small engine can actually make on Pump gas EFI and turbo, then Dyno it on Nitro EFI and Turbo, see what kind of power and boost I can squeeze out of it.
The first test I run is with gasoline alone to see if it could have made boost in the previous episode. The second test is with Gasoline on the EFI system that I adapted to this engine.
I think you will be very surprised with the results as I use a dyno that I built to measure the horsepower output of this engine with a setup that everyone wants to see in a very extreme and unconventional way.
LINK TO THE EFI SYSTEM I USED: I used: www.diyautotune.com/product/m... it worked beyond amazing and the software was so easy to use.

Heya bud, some advice from a fellow tuner that I hope will help; 1. Use the engine block as the common point of ground in a star-formation, as annoying as it is, take all ground for the ECU / coil pack / pumps from the engine and then wire your battery negative terminal to that point too, this will help reduce electromagnetic noise in the system. 2. Your crank angle sensor, intake temp sensor and engine temp sensors want to be isolated COMPLETELY from the above 12V and ground points - all (good) ECU's have a dedicated filtered power and ground feed for these sensors. Also twist these wires together (helix style) and wrap in tin foil, then ground that foil at ONE END ONLY ie. ECU end. This then acts as a Faraday cage / "antenna" to siphon away most of the electromagnetic noise. 3. Your lambda sensor was way too close to the block - chances are it's overheated. Extend the exhaust pipe another couple of feet at least, it lets the exhaust gasses cool down a little without fouling the air fuel mixture monitoring. The sensor doesn't need to be that close because they don't react amazingly quickly anyway. 4. Again for the lambda sensor, be careful of thermally shocking it - if you leave your ECU (and as such, the lambda sensor) powered up, the lambda sensor heats up, you start the engine and it blows cold air over it briefly, causing it to break. 5. As others have commented, go for a much smaller injector, having a1000cc injector sound cool but they really do not like small pulse widths! Ps. I think you're crazy for turbocharging and EFI'ing such a small engine, I freakin' love it :D
@WarpedPerception
@WarpedPerception 4 жыл бұрын
Awesome advice, to be honest I kind of knew that I did it the wrong way, but I didn't think it would be that much of a difference, it makes sense why almost all automobiles do it the way you advise. You're absolutely right though I don't think I did but I may have even mixed the sensor ground and chassis ground. Before the next little episode I'm going to do I'm going to straighten out all those groans and do exactly what you said. As for the aluminum foil for shielding, I thought of this today but I think as you said the grounding configuration is the big issue, now that you mention it I do notice during higher RPMs decu is having trouble filtering the crankshaft signal. That's probably why, makes perfect sense, thank you for the advice. As for the O2 sensor, yes I didn't think they were that sensitive, I thought it would last more than a few runs.. I didn't want to run a huge exhaust pipe though because it would have took the fun out of it and made it look ugly. I did think that the oil was the problem though with the O2 sensor, it's was burning a ton of oil.

Man, great content as always, congrats! Very happy that you moved to EFI, much more engine control and fine-tuning available. I worked for the last two years with high-speed imaging on a spark-ignition research engine with optical access on both the cylinder and the piston crown (we call it "optical engine"). It is a very sophisticated setup (and very expensive too lol), engine is highly instrumented and test bed is easy to operate. Even with all this technology it is quite hard to perform good tests and acquire useful images, so many variables and things that can go wrong. I'm always amazed by these "see-through" videos, you manage to get a lot of things done with relatively simple solutions and equipment.

The house was tripled with romantic mostly. The turbo romantic needs to be measured. It's not spinning fast enough because the turbo is too big and with a single exhaust pulse every two revolutions of the crankshaft it will never happen on that engine. The reading of positive pressure post turbo is most likely from the way the tubing is arranged, it's creating a venturi effect only from the velocity of the air.

That and they can’t be on the pressurized side of the exhaust stream (preturbo), but you have that down already!

Nitromethane can run 1.7:1 (stoichiometric) where as gas runs at 14.7 The fact he had to times it only by 4,Proves he had no clue what he was doing, also no timing map besides Anti-lag either proves he did do something crazy with timing (Which the fact a single cylinder 80cc Motor produced is either evidence,or by some magic {Probaby nitromethane nonsense} it worked normally) furthermore, he ran it grounded to the block (Idiot idea) and...didn't think about it. I feel like I just watched a 14 year old work on a honda civic.

I think you need to understand that an hour long vid of this would not be too long in any way. When something is interesting it's never too long and this my friend, is one of the most interestin and informative Vids I have seen in a while. I hope you carry this series on. Would be relatively easy not for you to do a 5 HP motor and I'm sure a Lot of people would be interested in seeing one of those adapted. I wonder if you could get an electronic injector and do a small diesel engine on this. That would really be something!

@@twix2756 then you would have missed out on a lot of interesting info and the bigger point of the vid. I guess some people have more interest for learning and others only want to be entertained for the few seconds their concentration span allows before having to see some other bright and sparkly object to amuse them.

@CJ-ty8sv
@CJ-ty8sv 4 жыл бұрын
Actually pointed away from the engine would be better for this situation... The reason why OEM's point them directly at the back of the valves (Port style injection) is for economy and idle quality (obviously neither of which are a concern here). This however is not as good for power as pointing them away from the engine (or if naturally aspirated, having them all the way at the intake velocity stack). This is why before F1 went back to Turbocharged engines, their injectors were actually in the intake plenum box right in the middle of the velocity stack. The reason for it is it promotes better mixing of the air/fuel mixture and thus causes a more homogeneous mixture which makes more power and reduces the change for pre-ignition and detonation. The downfall to this is you idle quality is poor and you have to run more fuel than you actually need because some of the fuel will fall out of suspension and thus cause lean pockets (same idea on why carb engines had chokes and why all engines run richer during cold start-up. One high output small displacement street engines we do a similar thing by with staged injection. Basically we run the normal port injector for low speeds and low power then at high speeds and high power, we kick in a second set of injectors that are often further up the intake stream and often pointed backwards. This does two things, if gives us the better idle quality and economy associated with port injection and also gives up better mixture when it counts. Sure, we could achieve the same thing with just really big port injectors but the larger the injector, the harder it is to control at low pulse widths. For example we can run 550cc injectors in the ports and run 550's in the staged location and get the needed 1000cc of fuel or we could run some 1000cc injectors in the ports and get the needed 1000cc of fuel but at the sacrifice of poor fuel control at idle and low / cruise speeds.
@CJ-ty8sv
@CJ-ty8sv 4 жыл бұрын
@@jessemarchese7245 Much of that fuel going the other way is due to the reversion pulse that occurs in the intake track each time the intake valve closes. As air is rushing from the turbo into the engine, a reverse pulse wave is sent back from the engine each time the valve close. Basically you get a pressure wave the flows backwards. Since this is a single cylinder engine, it has no where to go except back through the intake track, if it were a multi cylinder engine, it can also flow down another cylinders port if that cylinders valve is open then. This is where "Tuned Port" terminology comes from. At a certain RPM the the pressure wave is perfectly times with another cylinders intake valve opening and the reverse pressure wave gives a ram effect of sorts into that other cylinder.
@jessemarchese7245
@jessemarchese7245 4 жыл бұрын
@@CJ-ty8sv most of the fuel going back is because the injector is all the way in that narrow pipe with a 90 right next to it, pointing it towards the intake would let most of it make it to the combustion chamber and provide better and more accurate/consistent results
