Personally I just love the Tzeentch Chaos Knights because their barrier makes cycle charging ridiculously good since they tend to take less damage so long as it is managed properly.

Nurgle and single creatures is just "that's right, it goes in the square hole"

The Warrior of Chaos roster rework is probably my favorite thing of TW3. In TW1 and TW2, WoC basically had only a few units that were viable (1, really), so seeing them transformed into a faction in which almost every unit can be used (even when phased out later on) is fantastic.

Hope that the other factions will also get their own Aspiring Champions like the Tzeentch ROR...And Norsca desperately needs god-touched units once they finally get an update.

The Warriors of Chaos update is one of the best things CA has done. I only ever played a few turns of Chaos out of my 3000+ hours, then after the update they might be my favorite.

I love how Chaos Spawn is a one way street. There's no coming back after being turned into a Spawn of Chaos

Been doing a belakor campaign recently and having a ton of fun. The sheer variety of units available to the faction just helps keep things fresh, and once you get enough dark fortresses they’re all basically free. Really lets you just let loose and build whatever armies you want.

Festus and his giant goon squad is one of my favorite armies to use. You can absolutely trash the empire with a small stack of giants and heroes with Festus.

It's great seeing the tier list like this. I'm planning on playing WoC sometime soon, so seeing which units are most viable for the faction and the various armies in the faction. Warriors of Chaos really got the best out of their rework compared to other faction reworks. They became the legendary apocalypse bringers that they should have been from the start.

One thing I really want for WoC is to get Aspiring Champions for each God, and am really hoping they get them through the monog-God DLC's coming up. Like Skullreapers, Blightkings, and similar ones for Slaanesh and Tzeentch. I love making doomstacks of those AC's.

Played WoC recently, loved some sturdy Chosen Anvil with Tzeench Knights Hammer. The Barrier is soooo good for cav!

I was so happy with the Chaos update. They are my favorite faction now. Really feels practical to absolutely body the enemy and bring room and destruction upon the whole of the world, even on legendary difficulty. Aspiring Champions are soooooo powerful under Archaon. And I really enjoyed my playthrough as Vilitch because I love tzeentch units (especially the floating knights). Gonna rip a game as Kholek next.

I loved the plague drones for some reason despite their obvious flaws. Its just the aesthetic i think. There is one thing they excel at... sieges. They rip apart infantry on walls launching them off everywhere. Super niche but i ended up creating a siege support doomstack in my nurgle game for fun. Hopefully they still the operate same way since the rework? Might have to do a fecundite playthrough.

I will definitely use this for my next campaign.

Excellent review legend. The only thing I would add is don't upgrade chosen into exalted heros. Exalted heros are amazing when buffed through the tech tree but they can usually be recruited directly in chaos wastes regions. So don't waste your chosen.

Absolutely agree with everything - loved the publicity, too - except for the warshrine of Tzeentch, because I’d rather have my lords and heroes on disks for higher mobility and a warshrine or two for its effects. Glad to see that tier lists are back. Keep up the good work!

Legend, I like to use hellcannon's similar to how the Cygor functions in Beastmen comps. I push my infantry up the center and bombard blobs or single entities while preoccupying the flanks with knights or chariots.

Having magic in a Khorne army can be great, lord of change fits there too!

Huh, that's crazy. I always get a lot of value out of Nurgle Knights, the Sword n' Board variant when maxed out has almost 90 melee defence so they're a fairly forgiving unit to send into melee. Also quite frankly, the only lesser daemons worth using as Chaos Warriors are Horrors. They're the only "archer" unit WoC has access to and it also helps that their red line skill benefits are actually pretty damn good. All the other ones have the absolutely awful +charge +armor skill. They also miss out on some Dark Gifts benefits cause they technically arent marked units and there are no techs that benefit them.

For Chosen, I would actually suggest NEVER upgrading them to Aspiring Champions unless you really really want or need them. I found I was able to get AC's to spawn in my Dark Fortresses quite easily since they only require a Chaotic Waste region with high Undivided corruption, something you will be occupying a lot of. Using the portals when playing as Belakor makes this even easier. Even their 10% spawn chance was not a hindrance; I saw AC's spawn way more frequently than supposed 20-30% chance Warriors. And then there's the experience cost of upgrading a Marauder all the way to AC... ooof. I really love the WoC rework, probably the best content CA has done so far in WHIII beside Chorfs. Taking a niche faction with low potential and making them strong but not completely OP was amazing. Though arguably their tendency to steamroll once you're established is pretty high. I would say my biggest complaint with WoC is you really have to plan ahead with your army compositions. I found getting non-Undivided units to spawn was a challenge because even your own dedicated characters have trouble overriding the Undivided corruption. And if you want demons you have to use the Gifts, which potentially hurts your campaign finances, research (which WoC have trouble boosting early on), or siege battles (without the bombardment spell). And then demons can't even benefit from the building that provides unit recruitment at Rank 3.

@legendoftotalwar You got a link for the tiermaker?

I wish axe/shield variants was the same unit: that can simply be changed during campaign in Encamp stance (or while garrisoned in city). Would add for some great strategy options, and get rid of unnecessary repetitions in unit options. And maybe in VH or Legendary, they lose their ranks when switching modes.

The only thing I wish there was for WoC is Slaughterbrute, Mutalith and Chimera.

Another thing worth mentioning is that tzeentch units all have barrier, generally making them higher potential. Tzeentch spawn and forsaken aren’t just good because of Villitch, but because their barriers make them more valuable

And here I was just getting a bunch of every type of marked marauders cause I like the pretty colors. Gotta stop smoking before playing...

Will you do remakes of the unit tier lists for the other factions of WH1 and WH2? There should be quite a few changes, now that melee infantry is a lot more useful than it was in Mortal Empires.

I always find Chaos Knights of Tzeentch to be great in armies and would choose them over Slaanesh. Their shield means they are able to very effectively cycle charge without taking damage on the retreat. With a bit of micro you can do a lot of work with them.
