For the past decade, security managers in many nations have been focused on emerging threats and concerns about maritime security. Those issues remain-but have been overtaken by the re-emergence of land war in Europe. The conflict in Ukraine has made us reassess the conduct and consequences of conventional wars in the third decade of the 21st century.
What have we learnt about the importance of stockpiling, logistics, and internal industrial capacity? How have our conceptions of deterrence changed? Are there learnings about the dispersion and empowerment of command and control systems? What do we now understand better about joint operations across air, sea, land, cyber, and space? What of the speed-skilling of soldiers at the frontline, to adopt and adapt to changing technology and battlefield conditions? What does this conflict tell us about the escalation ladder when a nuclear power is involved?
In Conversation:
General Angus J. Campbell, Chief of the Defence Force, Australia
General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, India
General Jim Mattis, Former Secretary of Defense, USA

Palki Sharma, Managing Editor, Network18, India

Putin is crazy but India needs Russian arms and other resources not to mention mitigate Russians fully allying with China (though it's probably too late to do anything on that). So for now we triage between the west and Rusina (Russia + China).

Social media has a benefit, its very easy to get counter information too. In early 1900's setting people would go psyco like the "bird man are coming", the "havana thingi"...etc. Not now.

This panel is a discussion of like minded ideologues, not a grain of truth and absolutely non factual. The Ukraine war began with NATO's programme of expansion into former USSR territories; the fact that NATO's denial is so notorious that I just skip mention. As I said earlier these discussions are framed solely in ideological terms and it is just as useless to mention ( you say yes ! I say no!).I just will discuss matters that touch on matters involving Motherland. There is a stark difference between US expansion and that of China's expansion; China has need to be so strong that her might will deter the US & allies. China is the only nation that truly seeks peace and harmony in this world; yet the west tag China as a threat to the world. China is notorious for not having fought a war in the last 40 years and by that omission, China is claimed to be weak ! That claim is based on the ignorance of the west. China is wise over a 5,000 year civilization; hence our 3,000 wise saying, "know they enemy and know thyself, a 1,000 wars fought a 1,000 victories !" Just look at what has developed between US & allies vs China; it just took 30 years for China to beat US & allies into a bad 2 nd place. Was there a shot fired by China ? NO! Look at the US$ that dominated for the last 70 years, has China fought US & allies to Kill the US$ ? NO! and yet China with Russia as partners has killed the US$. There is no need to go further; suffice it to say that "as alleged by American opinion, China will take back Taiwan fight US or not does not matter. Wait for this great event.

We all use every possibility to escape from being a Ruzzian colony. When you say it is NATO's fault, you clearly mean we, the people from former Warsaw Pact countries and from former Soviet Republics should not have a choice. Well, good luck with that - we want to choose and (you may like it or not) we've chosen to be a part of Europe and not Ruzzian colonies.
