It really helps to set the tone for the journey going forward. I picture the pandemonium that Alfador’s knights are going through every time I listen to this track. It paints the situation as dire but still hopeful.

amazing song! reminded me of my late 80s summer. I had the Japanese version (didnt understand the language) and the first map, i didnt know you had run away to pass the stage. i spent days trying to defend the castle and lost lol

this game came out 20 years ago and was missing this song so much lol:)) thank you for posting it:! they dont make games with so many soundtracks as much and this one way back then caught me in by surprise; all of my friends bought it. game has a great story and the battles were so much fun; one of a kind game!

That exact part, I heard it just recently and I know I have heard that same "segment" (I don't know the term used in music.) in another game soundtrack. I thought it was 7th Saga on the SNES, but I don't think it was after listening back to a few of the songs. But I know I have heard it used in another game, and obviously it does sound very good.

Warsong and gleylancer are made by the same studio, masaya and the same composer. They were largely unknown but made good games for their time and had imo one of the very best music composers that ever made music for the mega drive, check out gynoug and langrisser 2 mega drive (the sequel to warsong thats its localised title)

my oh my!!!! this game was and is STILL...SO AWESOME!!!!! THE MUSIC SO MOTIVATIONAL!!! IT FITS WITH THE GAME, WARSONG!!! sound like they are songs for the war!!! it so fits everything the character design is great and the gameplay is cute and cool!!! BEST SAGA GEN game for me!!! (consider its the only one i played from SAGA) lol ^^ WARSONG!!!

I loved the Genesis soundtrack. I actually got the PS1 version, but was SORELY disappointed in the new music. It really wasn't awful...it just wasn't this.

The opening Battle at home castle, you are supposed to flee to win... THAT BEING SAID, IT IS A NEAR IMPOSSIBLE BATTLE TO WIN! BUT! YOU! CAN! WIN!!!! oH yAH I DIDN'T ALRIGHT IT TOOK A LOT OF PRESSES OF THE RESET BUTTON TO MASTER THE FIRST BATTLE..!!!! Usually it I would send the prince to reenforce the western side of the castle and the the knight master I forget there names for the moment to the eastern gate or was it too the south... first... the eastern gate will be the toughest with the boss and his phoenixes coming that way!! defeating the lizards on the west gate and the south are a priority before the heroes on the east gate fail!

nah... the have to keep the other enemy soldiers occupied TILL I can move the prince around TO SAVE THE DAY! I send him west to reinforce the west gate first.. and Baldarov to the EAST gate since Sabrinia is a FLOP... giving balanced unit counts to them... once the Prince is finished on the west gate its south to finish off the Lizards. then to the east gate BEFORE the Phoenixes and the BOSS of the map makes it to the WEST gate!! thats how I DID it so very long ago... BUT IT IS VERY TOUGH with the RNG HELL... I had to push the reset button A LOT of times ;_; ;_; XD XD

Melchior82 That's weird. In most of my playthroughs the boss with the phoenix' almost always go to the East gate, sometimes the south wall. The times that I bolstered the east with Baldarov he gets overwhelmed, but does take out the general there easily, but regardless it does take a lot of resets and time for a little extra gold and that extra dialog.

As far as I recall the phoenix/elemental boss always goes to the east gate he is after all a land.commander... I used horses with Baldarov to over whelm the soldiers at the east gate.... Its one of the toughest battles in the game being of such a low level...

Melchior82 Personally growing up I had a lot of trouble with the mission you first encounter Bayard in which you had to reach him and provide relief before he got overwhelmed. If he died it was Game Over. There was a lot of RNG in that fight as well. Those were the only two fights I'm that were actually hard/challenging.

god i love this track! brings back fond memories But I have noticed that listening to allot of the tracks (not this 1) through headphones, that they sound very unballenced. Due to the headphones making normally quieter sounds more louder

👍🏻 I heard this song in one of ZetaPlays' Fun Pack videos and thought it sounded pretty awesome! I know there are probably many Genesis games with good music but when i think of that console, i think of the “meh” soundtracks that use the GEMS driver instead of great music like this and the first couple Sonic games.

There's a korean/chinese PC port of the Langrisser 1 (PS1 version), which is essentially what Warsong is, Warsong being the localized version of the original Langrisser 1. The game's mechanics underwent some significant changes on the PS1 version (eg. you can no longer mix and match units in a single squad, have to be a squad of a single unit type; archers can now shoot from few blocks away, etc etc) but it's still more or less the same game in the end of the day.

@MadButcherBlade Well, the sequel, Der Langrisser has a complete English patch for it. It's on the SNES. Langrisser IV was recently fan translated for the PSX, you can get the patch from Clouds of El Sallia. That leaves Langrisser 3 and 5 without translations. From what I understand, you're not missing much with the 2 of those.

As I mentioned on another thread, it's tragic that NCS/Masiya went out of business and took the IP for Langrisser with them. That's why we haven't seen any re-issues of these games since 2000.

Langrisser V is fine. It's too easy on Normal mode, but if you play Hard on the PS1 version it's okay (still too easy, but it's fun to play through once or twice). The story is quite good and you fight giant robots.

Really? I'm playing Warsong right now on my CDX and I can tell you right now, you can't have a general with 5 soldiers and 5 cavalry. It's 10 of all or nothing. Am I misreading your comment?
