It appears there was some lobbying for a Mitch Marner trade by a former Toronto Maple Leafs player. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on a report from Nick Kypreos that Ryan O'Reilly was pushing the Nashville Predators to make a deal for Marner. They also give their thoughts on the first two days of the Leafs development camp and what the staff had to say about Cade Webber, Easton Cowan and more. If the Leafs had really believed that they had to trade Marner, or Tavares, Willie, or anyone else, they would have been traded. Its about committed direction. What's clear is the Leafs either don't want to Trade Marner, or are divided on the subject.

Not true at all. The player has a NMC. You literally cannot trade the player if he doesn't want to go anywhere else. You don't know what you're talking about.

Mitten and Cowan should be 4 liners with PP/PK #2 time. Move them up to 3rd line when ready. Robertson is missing out on great opportunity signing 1/2 year contract would be smart.

Marner to Nashville. Here is a question. Did O'Reilly ask Marner if he was interested? IDK, if a player does it, is it tampering? If it is possible he did, that might suggest Marner might go somewhere else if the place was right. It is going to be a lot harder for Treliving to move on from Marner than it is for Mike to move on from him. It is easy for Mike to say, let Marner succeed somewhere else. For Treliving, he would be the guy who lost Marner and Tkachuck. Marner hoisting the Conn Smythe would be the stuff of nightmares. Whatever comes back isn't going to be anywhere near as good as Marner. Cowan makes the Leafs next season. Wow, I wish I could get paid for predictions like, "Guy who almost made the team last year, might make the team this year."
