demons souls is so special. each boss has a unique aspect to it that really sets it apart from the rest, nowadays every souls boss is just press the roll button at the right time

After playing Hollow Knight I've sparked a tiny interest in tough combat games. I never liked them, but that paired with this video makes me want to try a souls title again. Great video man, you knocked it out of the park.

Demon's Souls was the true game changer. It was so counter intuitive and so different to the norm, it took me YEARS to actually progress into later stages. The fact that checkpoints were only after every boss and you couldn't level up before the first checkpoint was the opposite of a hand-holding tutorial and introductory area. You actually had to traverse two towers and several open areas, deal with two dragons and dozen of enemies BEFORE actually starting the game. And all preparation you could do is grinding slowly some herbs, because even upgrading the few weapons you might get was Almost impossible. What came later was just adjusting some variables on top of what was this, the first real gamble.

I find Demon's Souls the most relaxing Souls game, its sound design and atmosphere are unmatched.

I love how in 2009 Fromsoft just decided to change the gaming industry entirely.

Also I consider this to be a kind of puzzle game. The bosses all have their pattern used to beat them.

This video was worth the hype and wait, you pulled allot of heart and soul(pun) into this one and I loved it!

I agree with almost all points in your video and I'm glad you love the game so much, Demon's Souls is my absolute favorite game and I'm tired of people pretending it doesn't exist, or that the remake renders this version obsolete. If Demon's Souls had the mechanical finesse and refinement of today's FromSoft titles, it would easily be regarded as one of the top 2 titles, it has so many things going for it, incredible level design, lore as good as any of the rest, the best atmosphere, the best NPCs, I genuinely think this game is majorly overlooked. I do think the Maiden Astraea "boss battle" is genius, it makes you feel like you're the demon for attacking her, as opposed to you being the good guy freeing the land of all evil, there haven't been any similar boss fights in the other Souls titles so I think it is a very special encounter. Shrine of Storms is I think, one of the most memorable areas to traverse in all of FromSoft's titles, so I also disagree with you there. Other than that, tremendous video.

So I can't say I was ever interested in trying out the Souls series; I'm typically not a fan of high fantasy settings and the gameplay didn't look too appealing. That said, I think you may have convinced me to give the series a shot at some point. Great video man, can't wait for you to hit 2K subs! Which I think will be very soon, honestly!

Such a good video. I didn't want to play this game at all because it looked boring and visually unimpressive. At the time I was bored of video games too. My friend from college kept asking me to play this and give it a chance. I was like no I'm not gonna like if. Eventually I had free time and tried it out. It made me love gaming again and it really made me realize the difference between western and eastern gaming where one focused more on cinematic experience while the east focus more on gameplay mechanics. Now all I play is from soft games and resident evil remakes.

That “oh I’m not gonna beat this giant knight” is something I never felt in any game. Such masterpiece in that aspect imo. Such atmospheric and theme oriented game with quite good gameplay as a “first iteration”

Excellent video my fam, even if I'm a bit late to the launch party haha. If there was a landscape shifting, dictionary definition game changer to the industry at large, it'd be minecraft.... Buy Demon Souls would only be behind by a nose hair. I think I'll have to dive into the spin-off at some point just to investigate the wonderful music the games are packed with. Good vid, it was a bit of a shame that demon souls never got released on the 360 and pc back at the time(but that's developing games on the ps3 for ya) and that the only ways to play it(other than on a ps3) is the emulator which is a bit of a pain depending on your graphics card, or having your account region set to Japan on the ps4 which is also a pain in it's own way. But now there is the news of it's remake which is a really good news but apparently it's only going to be on the ps5 which is just awful to be frank, once again not many people will get to play it. Looking forward to the next vid, and congrats on the milestone.

Demon's Souls will always hold a special place in my heart, watching this back though the speed of gameplay looks infuriating. Elden Ring is a full course meal with all the sides, Demon's Sous is just an excellent starter course.

This is the best video you have made by far and im only half way through hahaha THANK YOU for that backstory at the beginning thats fucking nuts!! This was my first souls game and i played it only two months ago but since then i have beat dark souls remastered and dark souls 2 sotfs. Ive used strength builds entirely through my playthroughs and strictly used no summoning. Throughout it all i think demons souls still is my favorite not sure if cause if its my first or cause the graphics in the remaster are so damn good! Cannot wait to see ur video on elden ring! Plan on starting ds3 next week and intend to beat that bloodborne and sekiro before its release (gameplay permitting 🤣). How would u rank the soulsborn games in from pure enjoyment not difficultly? So far ds2 is by far my least. So much fucking GANKS and the absolute NIGHTMARE fight that was lud and zallen. I killed every fucking deer in that wasteland of an area just to make my walk a little less painful but eventually i prevailed!

Never played the original prefer the look as its like ds1 but the remake was great recently got a ps5 2 weeks ago and platinumed Bloodborne and finished demons souls loved it

True King Allant isnt supposed to be a boss fight. Its a mercy kill for a man that let corruption overtake him. You got an epic last battle with the false king, everything after that is just story stuff. Unless you are a monster and fight the maiden in black

Great video, but I have to disagree with your 3 weak bosses. The Dragon God is a bit of a letdown. But Maiden Astrea is a great Boss, because she isn't one. It's an emotional encounter that lets the player question his deeds. And True King Allant is not the final boss. That was False King Allant. He's just there for the lore and to show the player what has happened. Those encounters make demon's souls so unique.

Compared to the time yes. Yes it is as good as you remember it. Idk how this video will go but don't take in account games after that date but that date and before. It was easily one of the better games available and a great game for its time.

I disagree with your points on Maiden Astrea. Although she has the boss health bar on the bottom, she isn't really the boss. Garl Vinland is. Her job is to make you question what you're doing. The word Demon has a lot of connotations, all of them bad. Her job is to make you see that even though she is what you'd call a demon (lore wise) you, in this instance and maybe in others, are the real Demon (evil connotation wise). I also disagree with your thoughts on True King Allant. The False King was the true final "epic" boss. The True King is just there for lore reasons to show what happened to the man who put everyone in this mess. He's a pathetic slug. It's not a fun fight but it's not supposed to be. Demon's Souls bosses and the game in general is experimental, always striving to be different. Some are epic, sure, but later games in the souls series are more heavily designed to scratch that itch. Demon's Souls wasn't. Dragon God definitely was a letdown, though I'm not sure what they could do at the time with their budget and time restrictions. Overall, great video, but I had to give my two cents.

Demons is the hardest of the souls

No, it isn't. I'm playing it on PS5. After playing the "modern" Souls like Bloodborne, DS3 and Elden Ring, it's a slog. Enemies are really easy, the main difficulty is repeating the whole level if you die (yes, some levels have shortcuts, but not all of them), and some places that are just, well, terrible. Tight areas where you can't move, can't fight. It's not satisfactory to play it, at all. Specially levels like 4-2 and 5-2. And bosses are mostly just gimmick fights.

If you wear the thieves ring on the shrine of storms the sting rays don't shoot at you as much.
