My big brother Jim had a reel to reel tape player and he played Elvis songs all day. He will always be in our hearts. I was at work when the news came and went in the bathroom to cry. I tear up now just thinking about it.

I had a portable battery operated reel to reel tape recorder in the 1960's and I used to take it to the drive in movies and tape my favorite bits of Elvis movies

QUESTION : It always seemed crazy that Priscilla would tell Elvis she was leaving him backstage in Vegas as he was about to go on stage..Is that really how it went down?
@Patracat4 күн бұрын
Crazy? Not the word for it....vengeful, spiteful, nasty. It would have served her right if Elvis had laughed in her face then gone on stage and said "Priscilla has just told me we are finished. Well, that' great because it means I am a free man and can date all you gorgeous girls out there" - the fans would have jumped the stage to be first in line!!!

Austin Butler prepped for nearly 2 years for the role of Elvis, alot of it was at his home during the pandemic, & I personally thought he put his heart & soul into the role but opinions can & will differ.

I loved Austin Butler in the Elvis movie (but, I loved the movie, so...) and became an Austin Butler fan after seeing him play my idol. I agree about The Bikeriders. Not a movie I'd normally go see, but it looks pretty good. There's that Aviation movie he's in, too (Masters of the Air). I think it's streaming, and I don't do any streaming channels, but after reading about it, it sounds kind of interesting. Have a great weekend, all!

Good on you Danny, for your response to the last question about the ex wife. She has been upsetting fans a lot, and my own response to people when they mention her to me, is "I don't know and I don't care about her. Elvis's fans (and family) know the facts about Elvis, and are not interested in the muck raking that has gone on since he died."

I know everyone has their own opinion of the Elvis movie and Austin Butler. You said you thought others portrayed Elvis better. Just curious which one (or ones) you thought were better. I loved Austin and have never seen anyone who did it better. I also admired him for the time he spent researching and working on the part. Laney, you bring so much joy and happiness to your family, especially your grandparents! Being a grandparent is the greatest!

Would your family like to see a new documentary to show Elvis s humanity, his kindness and generosity, military service, his faith and gospel music in his life, his sense of humor, how happy was in in his ( not always sad, down, unhappy as movie portrayed, his personality, how he influenced so many after him with his voice, practically his own music producer, hair, fashion on and off stage, dance moves, charisma, stage presence , vocal ability in so many genres rock, r&b, gospel, rockabilly, ballads and contemporary music. He opened the door for black artists and broke down racial barriers. There is more to him than addiction and his weight

Love Laneys costume! I love how Jerry S. Told at Lisa Marie’s memorial at Graceland an he said Danny you was there talking about Danny Keough after Lisa Marie had heard that story about Jerry Lee when they went into a restaurant an Jerry Lee was there an she seen him an marched right over to him an said Jerry Lee what’s this I hear you running into the Gates at Graceland an so on chewing him out ! Jerry Shilling laughed telling it an said that was the first time he ever heard Jerry Lee silent! He didn’t answer her lol ! Let’s no forget Lisa Marie was only 5ft 4’ but she wasn’t scared of him just like her Daddy wasn’t! You know Elvis was laughing an proud smiling down at his babygirl confronting him ! Please stay safe and cool the Smith family an everyone else too! It’s been 97 here yest an the humidity in some parts made the temp 100 - 105 degrees! Please be safe and have a Happy Blessed Safe July 4th 🇺🇸Everyone! 😍👑❤️

I saw an interview the other day where Jerry Lee said that night Elvis invited him to Graceland so he went after he left a party where he was drinking champagne and he admitted to being intoxicated. He said as he was leaving the party to go to Graceland that a friend of his gave him a pistol as an award for something. He said the guards didn't know him and then they saw the pistol. That's when they called the law and the rest is history. If Elvis invited him like he said why would Elvis not call down to the guard house and say let him on up. I dont see how Jerry Lee's story could be the truth or else Elvis would've straightened it all out. Just what I saw the other day Take Care
@coollady21794 күн бұрын
Maybe if he did invite him he wasn’t expecting Lewis to show up plastered, crash into the gate, and wave a gun around? That would be enough for ANYONE to refuse entry and call the cops.
@bobbyhunt30094 күн бұрын
@@coollady2179 I agree In the interview Lewis said, the gun was on his dashboard and it never left the dashboard but he was so drunk falling all over that the cops thought he meant Elvis harm. Elvis must have told the cops to go ahead and take him to jail. Elvis probably didn't know if Lewis meant him harm or not after they saw the pistol. Hard to believe Lewis' account of the events. Lewis said he was so drunk he couldnt tell where the front of the car was and that's why he hit the gate. I find it hard to believe Elvis invited Lewis to Graceland, remember this was during the time Elvis was turning away the Memphis Mafia. Marty Lacker tells of the time during 1976 or 1977 when he was turned away from the gate of Graceland so I dont believe Elvis ask Lewis to come see him.

Contrasting stories about Jerry Lee Lewis, he is even on video saying Elvis called him up at the bad bobs vapours club on east brook Road and he drove to Graceland drunk in a Lincoln and said the bonnet was so long that’s the reason he hit the gates, the problem Jerry Lee had he had a gun on show so the police took him in.

I actually watched the bikers tonight at the cinema, Austin was very good along with Tom Hardy. Tbh I thought Austin was very good at portraying Elvis and he certainly put the work in, but the film sadly wasn’t historically accurate and did leave out important people in Elvis’s life. I liked Michael st Gerard…

It is Honorable how Priscilla's tales don't bother you or the family, it shows tremendous control on Yalls part. If I'm to be honest though, I must admit it bothers me because she ruins Elvis' image to his young fans who are just learning about him. Young people are naive and for the most part they probably believe everything they read or see on him at least to a certain degree. Another thing is some of what Priscilla says is true and it has reached a point where you don't know if she is telling the truth or not and in that way she can influence even longtime Elvis fans, true fans. Take Care
