It's the third case in German grammar and probably also the third one you come across when learning German. Dative is used after specific verbs and prepositions. About prepositions we will talk in another video, this video is all about understanding the German dative case and how to use it in combination with verbs.
There are specific verbs which only use dative. If you want to know which verbs these are you can download a FREE PDF on which I wrote down all the verbs that require the German case dative according to each level and together with an example sentence for each and every verb.

In this video we will go through some verbs which require dative and as always I am going to give you some examples sentences. Then we will look at the difference between direct and indirect object and and so some examples as well and at the end there is a bonus tip again. This time about adjective which require also the German case dative.

My thoughts exactly. The fact that he uses color codes and repeats the explanation has helped me a ton. I've been studying German for about 2 years and I was about to give up until I found Luzi. Thank you sir. I will be forever thankful. 🙏

@@Frei_Zeit Luzi's approach is very Montessori (Maria Montessori) her didactic materials used colors has a way to remember. Yet, as I teacher, I must say Luzi is excellent.

After almost two years of being subscribed to this channel, I realized what I missed out. My goodness, Luzi!! I almost stopped my German lessons 18 months ago just because of these cases. I learnt German for two years in my school and faced my examination but I got just a S pass for German which means the lower grade. But after watching your videos sir seriously I learnt more than the things which I learnt from my school.Thank u soo much now I'm very confident on this language and I 'm going to face my examination this year too. I feel like everything can be explained so quickly but these courses spread 15m lesson on 24 classes of 2hrs each to charge me crap load of money. I am so sad I didnt find this channel before. Not only is it simple to understand, I actually enjoy studying german. I wish you could be my professor for many other subjects 😂

HAHAHAHA I wish I had known the bonus tip before. I was in a chat with a stranger. We were having a good conversation and she asked me about the wather in my country. I told her that today was raining so I was cold and said "Ich bin kalt". She acted weird but then, when I told her one day had been pretty sunny, I said "Ich war heiß" and she left the chat HAHAHAHA.
