It might just be limited to whatever pigments went into the latte color? If you ever decide to revisit this, I'd be curious what would happen if you used any other browns or tans!

Hi Claire love them but i know what its like when your trying for something and it dont work, maybe its must certain pigments, maybe just test the brown ones if you have more browns, thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx

Hmmm..... must-have something to do with the pigment chemicals in the Latte that oxidized. Tan colors are often mixes of red and green pigments. It seems a red oxidized out into that dark patina found on old copper because of the water content?🤔

That last one was crazy I wonder if it was something to do with the colour you used before?? On another note is this tuff very fragile? it looks chalky like it's not very robust? You can see I've never used anything like this before I just live vicariously through you xx

I use it because it's the first thing I found in the USA when I was looking for jesmonite. It is pretty sturdy but not recommended for outdoor use at all. I am in the process of resining the pieces I made a couple of months ago. I wanted to be sure they were well cured. I want to see how the finish Claire uses holds up.❤

Since red is inherent in pink, and red is a primary color, there isn’t much to break down, which could explain why it didn’t change color. Just a guess. 🤔 But they all came out cool. Love the faceted bowl. I’ll have to get me one of them. Sorry I popped out of the chat. Busy today preparing for my wife’s 50th birthday. 🎂 But these came out nice, Claire. Sorry you were disappointed that it didn’t change color. 😁 Still they were a success. 👏🏻

RI put it in the comments on the other video but my colors changed too. I used primary elements from ColourArte. It happened over 24 to 36 hrs. Strange splotches formed in some areas like edges got a lot darker. Pink turned burgundy. Pastel purple turned dark purple but only in certain areas. Then when I wet them they changed again.

It looks nice anyway! I can't find the right video now but Royalty Soaps sometimes has soaps change colours due to some ingredient in her dyes reacting with air and the high ph of cold process soap. She usually calls it paranormal colour-morphs...

Maybe a color that requires two primary colors to create? Like purple = red and blue.. Orange = red and yellow.. The latte required red and green and the green is what came through.. Just trying to help on the happy failure journey.. 😉 💕

These are pretty, but apparently the pigment used for the pink is more stable than the latte. If you ever get around to experimenting more, I think the earthy tones and maybe the blues might be more likely to react. Have you been in contact with the manufacturer of the pigments, to hear their theories?

Try some super plasticiser that means less water. From Feb mix. Available from screw fix

Not sure you will see my comment on the first video (the happy accident), so will just repeat: brown and purple dyes are famous for "breaking". 😊 Maybe try resin dyes next, and then try acrylic paints?

Hi Claire 😊 I thought I’d try a little experiment 🤔 when you said maybe it was because the resincrete is really watery? I tried with just plain plaster of Paris (as this is really watery). I used the latte and the vivid pink and got no discolouration at all! I’m not sure about all the technical stuff but I had the stuff laying around and just thought I’d try, not even sure if it helps? 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

I thought it was changing there for a second too ... back to the drawing board. I would love to hear the manufacture's thoughts about what happened and the WHY of it all. And, How do you make it happen on purpose? I'm with you, I fell in love with the effect.

Maybe if you used a purple pigment you might get blue through to red ombre due to the colour mix to make purple 💜

In the first video, as soon as you remoulded you we running your hands all over the surface as you liked the feel of the finished product. If you did that for a few minutes per item as soon as you de-moulded in the first video but not the second, could there be a reaction process upon de-moulding that you missed? Could you hands have trace amounts of the colour invisible to the naked eye that transferred to the other two items & as you ran your fingers over the surface? Maybe the process had not completely finished when you de-moulded & the addition of trace amount of the green been caught up in the final moments of the Resincrete which could have caused the change in colour. Maybe the green tray hadn’t completely 100% completed the process so you could have transferred that across & it finished on the latte? Hmmmm interesting dilemma to solve. Maybe recreate the first video using the same colours in the exact three moulds & do it twice. Following exactly the same steps in the first video including the feeling of the first two items in the exact same order. And the second batch in the opposite order. But in both remove the third mould with gloves on so your skin & any potential colour that maybe on them will not transfer to it. Then you can see if it is just the latte colour separating or the green being transferred to the latte & vice versa. And we can see if the items aren’t touched by Alison or accidental transference of colour could have an impact. Then try replicating with two other colours.

Does the resincrete get hot? Because that might break the color molecules depending on the structure of the molecules. It would car color to color.

Why not mix a few colours up and create a rainbow affect then leave them all cure up and see what happens to to colours from the original. It might be certain pigments that Change with heat but until you try the all you won't know which ones do it and which don't
