It’s funny how both games are around the same length, but the first feels like a complete story, while the second feels like it’s missing just those little extra bits. It’s pretty much a majority opinion that this game should have been just that little bit longer.

I felt like Peter’s symbiote abilities weren’t expanded on enough. Sure we got like symbiote punch, tendril grab, but I feel that web of shadows handled the symbiote much better.

I didnt like the way he got the symbiote in this game. Needing to be revived after getting killed by Kraven within 3 seconds of meeting him seemed extremely lazy to me, especially when you consider that this Spidey has like 10 years or so of experience.

They lied when they said they doubled the map size by adding Queens. There's not much to do in Queens, and since it's mostly suburb, you just end up gliding over and ignoring most of the area. and HALF of Manhattan is missing. Did anyone else notice that??

Interesting look back on Spider-Man 2, the game did feel short, and certain things like the dynamics of Harry and Venom and Peter being affected by Venom, should have been fleshed out a little more. As for the "Venom world takeover" that should have had more urgency to it, like locking side content to emphasize the fact the city is in danger. Apart from these little nitpicks of mine, I throughly enjoyed the game.

We need to get the black suit earlier to have a better transition between Casual lowenthal to Menace Lowenthal.

Probably no is reading this but I completely agree with your points. I had a few ideas that could've made the game feel more impactful and more emotional, first off, I would've kept Agent Venom around longer for more encounters with Peter and Miles, Harry and Miles saw each other as competition for being Peter's best friend so why not have a mission or two where the two actively compete against each other and try to prove superiority over each other? This could've deepened Venom's anger towards Miles in the end game and also give Miles more screen time. Another idea I had is common but keeping the Black Suit around longer would've been nice, it really feels like we didn't even have it for long, it was just Peter having it for the lizard part and then he loses control and then immediately gets it removed. Why not keep it around longer? Also wouldn't have the Symbiote interested Kraven? I doubt he's seen anything like it with him being an expert in all things wild, I think it would've been cool for him to find out it cured Harry's sickness and then attempt to hunt Pete to get it for himself and become the ultimate Predator (Venom). Another thing I also would've done is emphasized Harry's emotional state after he loses the symbiote. The symbiote made him feel like a hero, Harry wanted to be like Pete that's why he based his suit off of his in the first place, imagine if they made Harry and Miles compete against each other and then later when Harry loses the symbiote, imagine the disappointment, uselessness, and jealousy building up in him, one minute being a hero that's actively helping those around him, and the next minute seeing his best friend who already has powers, wear the suit that made himself special and healthy and to also see Miles actively doing what Harry himself can't do, all while slowly dying with no cure. All of these factors could've pushed Harry to the edge and been what motivated Venom. I just feel like Venom did not have good motivation and depended too much on the corruption of the symbiote instead of having the symbiote use Harry's insecurities to do what he did in the game. Another thing, have Miles more involved in the Kraven and Symbiote arcs. Give the man more screen time! A cool idea I had is what if when Miles allowed Li to escape the Mansion, instead of staying back and attempting to take on Kraven, what if Miles tried to escape too which led into a chase portion where Miles is trying with all his power to escape Kraven and his hunters, using his invisibility and his bioelectricity what if this became a game of cat and mouse with Miles as the Prey and Kraven as the Hunter? Then lead into the capture of Miles and Peter going berserk. I could say way more but I don't think anyone would be interested in reading more of this.

I think the problem i had in sm2 is that the missions are so good that its kinda short, and i think the act 3 of the game, the symbiote takeover, is a good way to dump us some more missions.

The game is great but for 70$ (80€ in Germany) it felt really short and rushed I wished it to be a little longer

Very rushed. Act III felt so tiny. The black suit felt underutilized, we didn't get enough time with Harry like we did with Otto and many other issues.

I really agree for the most part. There were so many storylines and everything just needed that (little) bit extra to make it feel more worthwhile. A bit more for Miles (with Ganke, Hailey, Rio and Harry). A bit more of black suit Peter (quite a bit more). Perhaps missions where you tried protecting villains like Vulture, Shocker, or Electro. A final act that wouldn't feel as rushed (and didn't include the random appearance of the colgate suit). I'd have loved a few more grounded, unmasked scenes as well. I think that aspect was a little lacking compared to the first two games.

it honestly annoys me how much it is wasted because if it was just longer, than it could have been such a great game and explore one of the best spiderman arks with some of the best villans in the series, but they wasted it by rushing through and not letting it playout and develop characters.

after how much i loved the first game it's safe to say i had high expectations for 2nd... i finished the game over a weekend, cringed through most of the story, was frequently annoyed by Peter and Mary Jane's new faces, was seriously let down by Venom's character (or lack of character), found the gameplay repetitive and hated that they removed all the gadgets. I felt seriously burned.

I beat the game and returned it to Amazon. It was not a dollar experience in my opinion. First one was much more enjoyable

I love it but the story is amazing however the first 2 acts was amazing. It's only the third act was rushed. It could have been an additional 5 hours longer. They pretty much repeated the same mistake as God of War Ragnarok which is rushed third act. But that's nothing short of amazing. Both games are phenomenal. Marvel's Spider Man 2 is still the best Marvel game ever.

In my experience, the game doesn’t feel rushed. I play them all in the way of finishing side content as each district is introduced, which gives added dialogue surrounding the story beats you mentioned going too quickly (when you’re just playing the main story). The way I played it actually was 35 hours, and I haven’t even started the story again yet.

The final act just felt like they realized it was a video game and made us do a bunch of stereotypical video game stuff as they took a step back from the overall story while also trying to unnecessarily upstage the events of the first games finale.

This might be a hot take, but with the capacities that a console like the ps5 holds (and sony is trying to show us by it's marketing) triple A games campaigns should not be less than 20hs. They have more than enough resources to make a long and complete game that truly feels like a fulfill experience. I LOVED Spider-Man 2, but a 15hs campaign is a straight up disappointment from where we are standing at the current state of the videogame industry.

Honestly I was most excitted for a new and refreshing adaptation on Venom that brought him back to his roots as a villain, but I was severely disappointed on that front. I had hope for Harry being a good Venom, but with this and the Ultimate tv show, writers need to leave Harry out of the alien sludge.

i wish the city had way more unique sidequests to make it feel more alive. we got some nice ones through the app gimmick but most of the villain-dedicated side content was very repetitive.

The story is only part that felt rushed mainly with the symbiote would’ve preferred Harry having a stronger motivation to become venom that scene with Peter and Norman came outta nowhere and I would’ve preferred lesss of a symbiote invasion and more of just a personal fight between Pete and venom without the “city always facing a avengers level threat” hope the 3rd game doesn’t do a goblin disease type thing or any plunging the city into a crisis I miss street level simple stories

This Game would have been a 10/10 to me, but i would have loved to See Kraven kill off the sinister six so we would think about him more as a Threat than what He actually was. Also 2 more Hours of Black Suit Gameplay where Pete actually lost himself, we couldn't control him or the Mechanic that we have to remove the suit sometimes which also made it harder was totally missed. Game is good but way too short and has many plotholes. Act 1 was good, Act 2 was great but Act 3 was so Rushed that i was so disapointed. Game is a 8/10, it's tausend Times better than Miles Morales but not better than the first Game.

Hopefully we see dlc soon I mean compared to boss fights in this game compared to last game is a huge difference like we do have a decent amount of enemies and actually really good boss fights in spider man 2 but spider man 1/Remastered it’s no competition the amount of bosses is like an Arkham game.

Tbh, first act was super slow, 2nd act was pretty slow until he gets the symbiote, which then becomes super rushed, and then 3rd act was super rushed

I put like 150 hours into Baldurs Gate 3 and I thought it was short. Spider-man took about 20 hours and I thought it dragged on far too long. Don't get me wrong, the game is very fun to play and impressive mechanically, but the story and characters are not very good.

The PS4 Spider-Man is my favorite game. It is a full package experience through and through.

my only problems with the game was the rushed symbiote battle and the final boss not living up to the hype. We saw countless trailers showing peter and miles in their classic suits fighting venom throughout the city. I also feel like we got the anti venom suit too soon, would have been better story wise to have it like in the middle of the boss battle

I think Spider-Man 2 was rushed not because the main story but because there was nothing else to do after it. Put games like Arkham Knight and how that too was 15+ hours for the main story. The game has plenty of side missions and crimes that you can do in the city, there isn't much of that in Spider-Man 2 and that's why the game seemed too quick and why I think the game was rushed.

Comparing Spider-Man 2's story pacing to the 2018 game, it's night and day. I would've gladly accepted a version of this game that was 30-50 hours long if it meant we had more time in each arc of the game. For example, Insomniac could have used arc of the story to subtly hint that Peter feels like he's not living up to his role as Spider-Man, so that when we get the symbiote, we feel like a better Spider-Man than even Miles. That's just spitballing, though. I don't know if it would've worked with the workload I'm sure Insomniac has.

In my opinion, venom shouldn't have been the main villain. The ultimate version of green goblin would've been better and kraven was very underutilized. They need to find better writers for miles morales he's either not there and getting on my nerves. Peter Parker seems to just get shit on alot recently.

Spiderman 2 was really rushed and unfortunately they cut a lot of stuff from the game. There was supposed to be a riot boss fight and an agony boss fight as well but they were scrapped due to not having enough time.

Did they say there would be a dlc? Cuz man I really wanna keep playing dis but it just all crime stopping now. And I think they should a survival challenge mode thing, which doesn't allow you to heal or probably uses 2 or 3 focus bar or whatever they can add. Like star wars has a meditation thing, and god of war dlc had basically vahalla so something like what makes the game replayabke, that doesn't have to be a story thing.

Also, Spider-Man 2 was originally going to feature Black Cat, Lizard and Hobgoblin alongside Doc Ock. But all except one were scrapped because the writers apparently suck at both love-triangles and war-triangles. But I would rather have these villains and antiheroes in Spider-Man 2 than to have both MJ and Jameson III ruin the plot. Another plot-ruiner was killing off Doc Ock, he was supposed to be imprisoned by the end of 2, then busting out in 3 to form the Sinister Six, instead that was thrown away just to shoehorn Venom.

I make 17.50 an hour. It took me 4 hours of my life to get it. Personally if it last longer than how long I worked for it’s worth it

They should have kept Peter with the symbiote in the rest of this game. He progresses though the main-story and everyone thinking it was indeed a good way to help everyone, but then, at the end of the game, Peter shows sign of agression, keeping Kraven the main villain here and he inevitably dying. But then in the third game, at 40% story, Miles and Peter fight due to the Symbiote's Affect and he losses the symbiote. 50%, he gets the Anti-Venom, the rest it would´ve been venom storyline. I dunno, I want to make pter have the symbiote as much as he can possibly have but if Insomiac could only afford 3 games, then this would've worked

greatness comes with deadlines... Spider man 1 was also rushed, and every film ever made was rushed.. They just cant take their sweet ass time, as these are high budget films with many people's schedules on the line.. Most ppl cant even get their friend to align schedules imagine 800-2000 ppl.. We can only be greatful they put in these efforts for our entertainment

when I initially played it on release, I didn't feel like it was rushed, but the ending was definitely the weakest part with the venom boss fight just being quite disappointing. i think the game is still really good, especially with the traversal, but the story, writing, and pacing of the first game is just superior.

I think Venom part of the story should've had more missions and new game plus and mission reply should've been there at launch but other than those things it was amazing imo
