War is always good, so while I've not yet watched the video I think this new one cannot be bad

well crafted video! thank you for helping me analyse my own thoughts about the quest. edit: more discussion hidden under show more to add to the lotus' identity, i also thought it was weird to choose between identities that different people were trying to force on her, even if those were still parts of her, as she recognises at the end of the quest. there are a few times in the story where she says that she has chosen to be the lotus, and i think it would be cool to keep exploring how those different parts of her identity keep interacting to create her whole identity, even if one part is technically dominant as chosen. its also really interesting that the lotus choice is permanent to me, as its shown that her identity evolves over time, which is a near universal experience. identity is not just a choice to make impulsively, or even a calculated choice. its something that is explored and changes with experiences. obviously, the events in the story quests leading up to the new war, and the new war itself, have the capacity to cause dramatic changes in someones identity. having to face a past that you didnt want to face and then being manipulated by this tyrant can change a lot about your identity. by the end of the new war, the lotus is in disarray, and any choice made about identity could be shown to be like "hey, this is what i felt like after this traumatic experience, but i have had time and experiences since that lead me to being more comfortable with identifying as x" to where it shows that the lotus is recovering and finding herself again, with whatever part or combination of parts of her identity seems the most like *her*. idk just a random ramble from a random gal, cheers if you actually read it.

I feel like some of the intent behind The New War might have been to get people asking questions, speculating the future, and also discussing the choices they made throughout. It felt like there was no right answer, but one could justify their choices easy enough. I only played The New War recently, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found many times where my jaw dropped, and I was left with that sense of 'WTF?!", but always followed by 'this is so cool'. I really latched onto the idea of 'Eternalism' when that was brought up in a flashback, which I think helped me to rationalise the co-existence of The Drifter with The Operator. I ran through the story alongside a friend at the same time, so we were bouncing ideas and theories off each other. Something we found was that we were speculating and theorising in the gaps that DE had left, and discussing our thoughts on 'the right choices'.

See my thing with talking about warframe lore, is that its very much suposed to be convoluted, you have the people invested into the lore, and then the others into the gameplay, i find it difficult to watch people talk about it because its not a story for everyone, that being said, this was a good watch

They probably could’ve done a story where 2 universes are leaking through each other , then the drifter had to work with the Tenno

It is. I'm not sure how long OP has actually played the game.

The point they were making was that at the time New War came out, and if you had only played the New War as a standalone story you would have no clue who this Drifter character is and they would have had no prior buildup. As OP said in their video, the Duviri Paradox came out TWO WHOLE YEARS after the New War, and so it feels like a hollow addition in the context of the New War itself.

warframe is quite guilty of a lot of 'and then this happened', without it really being obvious what the motivations are. I didnt come away from the sacrifice with the plot point you did, to me the game was just telling me a few warframes like umbra and valkyr were treated badly. I like what it means to say, and i get that not every story has to be obvious, but i would wager at least 60% of players did not pick up on this really quite important point that the tenno dont just merely control because they can but because they are compassionate. Like if you had to pick out a scene that shows this the best how many people do you think understand that. DE clearly has cool ideas for things to happen but doesnt really underscore the important reasons for why much of anything happens so you get a lot characters having grand reveals and entrances and kind of disappearing, you have warframes technically being an intergalactic terrorist group that does hour long massacres in ships 'while an operative sneaks around elsewhere' because, we wanted some intel or something on the grinner or corpus? and its weirder you regularly get contacted by both the grineer and corpus for help when you go around slaughtering workers on many different planets. The player is really the most awful power hungry character there is and its never really brought up.

15:30 Dude, it's just space magic. It does not need an explanation. How would they even explain it? The Lotus asks the operator where they came from, then they say they dont know either? A flashback to this moment where a character tells us exactly what happens in this moment? How boring and expository that would be, lol. Its unimportant. Somehow, when the drifter is attacked by the lotus (perhaps this is the first time they directly touched each other, hmm...) they get their powers "back".

I will say this, as someone who just got into warframe last month, The new war was my least favorite part of the entire game, and to an extent out of every other game I've ever played. I will be going on a...small rant, I hope it's going to be small anyways. I loved the Kahl and Veso arcs, despised the Teshin sections because of the unnecessary restrictions and timers (I cared so little about him already that up until rewatching this video, i had completely forgotten that he ACTUALLY died), I did the stealth section in Fortuna which has to be the worst stealth section I've done in any videogame(I get that it's to build pressure and whatever but it didn't work for me, I did not feel pressured, I did not feel weak, I felt annoyed and bored, especially when they strapped a literal remote controlled bomb to my skull, saying "oh yeah this is to make your mission so much easier because you blend in now. Just kidding! Now if they see you from across the room, no matter how normal you act, they don't need to follow you to kill you, they will do it from there! Good luck asshole!"), and from that point on, it all went downhill. This expansion offered me only the aspects of this game that I hate: -The drifter and the operator, i hate playing as them.( War within is another bad memory i wish to forget.) Extremely low health, garbage abilities and garbage movement. -Not only did the game offer me almost nothing to defend myself but made me fight mutant versions of Warframes with a bow (I love Nataruk, it's among my favorite weapons to use in steel path and archon hunts but an unmodded Nataruk hits like a wet noodle) , I will appreciate though that Hunhow sent Stalker to give me a hand on my first death, but that's just not enough - the railjack (there is nothing that will ever convince me to use it ever again) -the game constantly forcing me to play as LITERALLY ANYTHING BUT MY WARFRAME. (As much as I love the Necramech, acquiring one was awful, I asked all my veteran friends about the best way of farming it, 5/5 people said that they bought it because they hated the farm so much). -this is another case of them locking you out of the rest of the game till you finish the story(so glad they don't do that anymore, really loved Angels of Zariman and Whispers in the walls) By that point i was completely checked out, so much so that I completely stopped caring about whatever was going on in the game's story. My favorite part about the whole experience was that it was finally over, and I no longer had to repeat this horrible experience (Unlike the war within which bugged out and i had to replay the whole thing after I talked to Teshin on the mountain peak...). I see a lot of people singing the praises of this campaign, but I just can't give it more than a 2/10, and that's only because I liked 2 15 minute missions out of the whole 6- hours experience. With all that being said , the things that were bad about this campaign were really ,REALLY bad, but the things that were good were VERY GOOD and this video helped me appreciate the vision, the concepts, the ambition and direction they wanted to follow. If I were watching this video from an outsider's perspective, I definitely would've given DE big props for fully dedicating to creating something this ambitious and different. However...having endured through it ...I think the execution fell flat on its face, and this belief has only been reinforced by every other major story mission that came out afterwards, because they are no longer focusing on additional one and done playstyles and mechanics, but rather taking the core mechanic of the game (the one that people actually play this game for )and expanding upon it(imo it's not them playing it safe, it's just them finally knowing what their strengths and weaknesses are.) So yeah good video. P.S.: storywise the entire campaign could've been prevented if Erra didn't have daddy issues and talked things out with his papa, Hunhow.

See here's the problem, they made the nechramech farm much easier months ago, I found it not that hard, that's the only part of this I could say your mostly wrong about, everything else is more opinions then anything

New war was not perfect and has some confusing moments and rushed pacing towards the ending, but overall it is still really good.
