Maybe people at the time talked about how short it was to avoid criticizing the narrative because the narrative's issues were some of the same ones games they liked like call of duty had

I am HERE for these long-form videos, Alex! I'm sure it was a tremendous effort to put together, but damn your writing and editing is top notch and I hope this gets some viral traction.

It's possible that the "too short" responce was more of a "not satisfying" responce, but people just didn't how how to express it. Thinking if a game was longer would make it satisfying in the end since to got more entertainment value out of it is an easy thing to do when unsure why something just doesn't feel quite right.

This is a fun video. I love your sort of "death of the author" take on the narrative to try to give a different perspective on the narrative

I don't know why people would want it to be longer, the game was so monotonous that if felt too long for me if anything.

The duration thing was not only for the six hours, but because how low the playable content in those six hours felt (wan't a chapter just a 15-20 minute CGI sequence and then jumped to next chapter). Even the final boss was the exact same boss from the middle of the game. And yes, other games like MGSV recicled a lot of bosses during the game, but that one had a ton of side content to do between them to semi-forget them. The thing is that the order felt like a techincal demo with a expensive price tag.

I have still have not beat it even after having it for 5 years and installed, definitely unique tech and timeline thanks for this I'll definitely have to probably just start it over.

This game just made we wish there was more to it. Instead ready at dawn went on to make deformers and absolutely no one played it... To me the order is just gonna remain as missed potential.

Order of 1886 is actually a brilliant game. Great weapons selections, some good use of controller vibration for puzzles, the werewolves in the warehouse was very cool use of speed attack scares. But Yes, it has some cinematic Lunesta.

Can you post a list of music you used in this video? Some of songs sound familiar but I cannot place it and I need to know! Especially the one from 7:55, I know and like it but cannot recall what it's called. Edit: Oh wait, it's from Original Sin 2, isn't it? You used more than one song from that game in this video. I still have my copy only difference is I didn't pay 60 dollars for it I got it alot cheaper then 60 dollars and I thought it was a pretty cool game not saying it's a perfect game cuz it does haves it's flaws but the story to me it was alright I like it I wish they didn't let the game finish with a cliffhanger it really had me going on wanting more of the game and story I'm hoping they make a sequel of this game and picks up where it Left off I think that would be pretty dope but that's just my opinion and wat I think🤷‍♂️

Well, I Was going to play this at some point since I didn't have a PS4 until years after it came out, but I really don't feel like that's ever going to happen now. Also, you should enable "Super Thanks" for your videos. I haven't seen many, but it could never hurt.

This was a roller coaster of a video. Like, here's this old game you've never heard of. Neat! Except there was a huge backlash to how short it was. Oh dear. But let's look past the backlash to see the game for what it really is. Hooray! It's a cover shooter with nonsensical writing, terrible characters, and random edginess and shock value thrown in. Oh.

This was fascinating to learn about. When it came out I wondered what the game was actually like because the discourse was so engulfed in length conversations. But you're right, if the game had been good the length would have been an afterthought. My favorite part about the game, having never played it, was listening to the composer talk about how he devised the soundtrack without using any violins to create a unique and darker theme. A lot of love was put into artistry of this game, it's a shame it was let down by such a terrible narrative.

I remember having a blast playing this game and wondering why people were giving it so much flak. Now I realise I remembered absolutely nothing about the story or the characters... At leady I had a great time playing it 😅

My expectations for this video were dashed not once, but twice. I wish storymode made a video on this game. Sounds like it has a stupid enough plot to be good there.

I just beat it tonight. Preface by saying I got it for 10 dollars, but still, I think I would have been pretty happy to have gotten it for $40. I can see why $60 is too much, and it isn't related to the gameplay, graphics, story or length. It's all about the replayability. There isn't any. At least no real reason to replay the game. I got so irritated when I realized I was a few trophies off the platinum, and they have no collectible tracking in the game. How can you have collectibles, and no way to tell how many are left and in what chapter? So tedious. But the gameplay is solid. It's not wildly impressive, it breezed by in 6 hours, but I will likely play it again someday soon. I had a blast, but it also was not anything spectacular.

I played this game in 2017 and I loved the compelling steampunk fantasy setting. This game actually directly inspired a creative writing project of mine in college a while ago

God, you know people give Spec Ops crap for being sorta edgy and hamfisted in it's approach but like, compare that to this and you at least have an idea of the environment it came out in. It had a really "finally somebody said something" reception at the time more than anything else. like Black Ops 1 and 2 sorta were a little edgy about things but still.
