The use of emojis I could see being useful to avoid having to do much localization within the code (makes the payload smaller and simpler to implement), and just allow someone to use an emoji picker to select tasks which most modern OSes will have built in. Maybe also avoids having as many telltale strings that could be meaningful as signatures. Also I get enough SMS spam without having to have folks driving by with SMS spam boxes. These honestly seem kinda silly to a degree unless you have some specific reason to target a relatively small geographic location. Otherwise it seems to cost spammers basically nothing to just blanket spam a bunch of numbers remotely from some server somewhere.

@oggilein1Ай бұрын
@Daniel15au actually most countries still have operational 2G cell towers, ontop of 4G or 5G or whatever with 3G being the one that is decommissioned. the reason is emergency services, since the bandwidth just needs to be good enough to understand someone speaking, and 2G has an incredible range per tower so you're able to get a signal in very remote locations that would otherwise leave you stranded

Now what’s your number.
@esco8778Ай бұрын
One of the ways you can force a phone down to a lower cell technology is by raising the noise floor and ruining the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Effectively jamming them off of 3g-5g. Then the phones will look for 2g towers, which the only requirement for is whoever is the most powerful, and since they are driving around in cars probably putting out the most amount of power they can, they will probably pick them up providing their MCC, MNC and ARFCN are correct. Which can easily be surveyed by looking at your own phone's network properties.

A lot of third-world countries actually have great wireless infrastructure as it’s much cheaper than wired infrastructure to each customer. Not surprised to hear this happened in the UK, which has a very fragmented cellular landscape!
@amzythekingАй бұрын
In the UK, where this attack happened, we primarily ride 2G purely for calls+SMS, However mobile data is obviously handled over 4G and 5G. This isn't always the case, obviously we have stuff like VoLTE that utilises 4G for a crisper sound, but for most part the UK sticks to "trusty ol' reliable". So here, they're perfectly in date, however networks have begun shutting down the use of 3G. However 2G isn't set to be turned off until at least 2030; with leading network EE taking the cake on that one.

So little to no extra writing need - it is highly visual _what_ you are doing, making sure your commands stand out from any basic text (like paths, repsonses) and from each other - the reactions can be used to gauge if the client is responding/processing/finished, without needing to spam and filter a logfile or responses Discord might actually make a pretty decent terminal system!
