Wasatch Backcountry Tour

3 жыл бұрынI've been doing this tour for over 20 years now. It was introduced to me when I first moved here in the mid 90's by a then Solitude Ski Patroller that I skied with back then. There are many variations and I always find great untracked lines. This was my first time back since 2019 having lost 2020 to Covid related distraction. This was one of those Spring Powder Bluebird Days that represent the best of skiing Utah. The views, the terrain, the snow the feeling of having a mountain to yourself. I of course had my J-View Mount with an Insta360 One X2 and GoPro Hero9 with Max Lens to capture the day and skiing.

That bowl must have had some seriously steep pitches but it’s really hard to tell without someone shooting you cross-slope. Nevertheless, nice way to end the season.

It's about 40 at the top where I'm scratching across the rocks on the ridge and drops into the mid 30's as you ski down through the trees. Perfect pitch and tree spacing once you find a clear path. It was my best day of the season for sure! May squeeze one more backcountry tour in if I can find the time. Wish I could see up with you at A-basin! Enjoy!

How do you get back to your starting spot?

I assume you mean how did I get back to the Solitude and my RV from Silver Fork Canyon. You have to know where you are going to avoid tricky terrain, cliffs etc but Silver Fork drainage leads back down eventually to a cabin road (where I was walking near the end of the video) and that leads back to Solitude near the Eagle Express Chair. You can also skin back up and into Honeycomb Canyon and enter back into Solitude that way.
