Very good direction, editing and b-roll photography. You should be happy with how this vid came out.

Awesome - I appreciate the novel camera angle and set-up. Too many POV ski vids are hemet cams pointed too much at the skiers feet and you can't get a sense of the terrain and the vistas.

How do you get back to your starting spot?
@JVIEWmounts9 ай бұрын
I assume you mean how did I get back to the Solitude and my RV from Silver Fork Canyon. You have to know where you are going to avoid tricky terrain, cliffs etc but Silver Fork drainage leads back down eventually to a cabin road (where I was walking near the end of the video) and that leads back to Solitude near the Eagle Express Chair. You can also skin back up and into Honeycomb Canyon and enter back into Solitude that way.

June 1st, 1974. The lifts were closed, so Brent Beardsley & I hiked, from the base, up the west shoulder. We met a couple of SoCal guys in town for the Steve Miller concert. Beautiful day and a great run. Got the whole thing on my 8mm film camera. This was one of my best memories from my U of U days. It hadn't been a heavy snow winter, but we skied all the way to the base.

That seems to be the smarter way to make the summit. I repeated this a few years later and made the South Summit but still have not stood on the true summit. I maybe have one more attempt in me😅

I was fortunate to ski Main Chute one day in April many years ago when I was a student at the U of U. The hike was killer...sucking wind above 10k feet. Took me about 45 min to reach the summit. The pow was great in their that day. Jump turn after jump turn descending the chute. One of my most memorable skiing experiences in Little Cottonwood. My best was 3 days after a 55" dump the Canyon opened. Never skied such deep powder. You had to be on a steep slope just to move. Best snow in the world!

Impossible without stopping for me. this is a take your time run

I think I'm ready for that. I also think I could choke, imagine dying and be overcome by fear! But if my head were right I think I could ski it!

nice, the corn snow looked awesome. If you did an alpine start earlier, you would have been able to summit, and most likely take multiple runs

is there a lift? what happens when you get to the bottom?
@JVIEWmounts2 жыл бұрын
Yes there are a couple lifts at the bottom. You have to hike about 15 to 20 minutes with skis over shoulder to get to this spot and terrain.

Excellent 👌👍 video footage,at a glance I'd say 12"+,sometimes wet snow can ski/ride the same as powder, depending upon the tempature and humidity, other than that it was a small slide,slab.

@JVIEWmounts3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bruce. The Holy Grail is stability. It's not perfect but it's now watchable. If this thing takes off that's where the R&D will go to better isolate the camera from jarring motion when, as in the video, the scooter rider flips and lands on concrete. I have lot's of ideas but right now I need revenue from the current design.

That bowl must have had some seriously steep pitches but it’s really hard to tell without someone shooting you cross-slope. Nevertheless, nice way to end the season.
@JVIEWmounts3 жыл бұрын
It's about 40 at the top where I'm scratching across the rocks on the ridge and drops into the mid 30's as you ski down through the trees. Perfect pitch and tree spacing once you find a clear path. It was my best day of the season for sure! May squeeze one more backcountry tour in if I can find the time. Wish I could see up with you at A-basin! Enjoy!
